Complaints about moderation and freedom of speech are for the website feedback forums. They will be treated as being off topic and dealt with appropriately.

No more Iron Lady talk, no more gender debate. This is a thread about a StarCraft player. Last I checked what's in between your legs has no impact on how you play the game.

I agree with some of the comments here that the moderation on this thread has been dreadful. It's way too soft. I have gone ahead and simply deleted a bunch of comments that fail TL's community standards. Yes, those standards are determined by the mods. Yes, those standards are not perfect nor even uniformly applied. But we try our best. Spare us your righteous indignation over any notional impairment of free speech. This is a private site. It's a club. There is no "right" to free speech here. We only tolerate quality speech. By who's standards? Ours. Go read the TL Ten Commandments. And if you don't like this policy or our way of running our house, leave. - mensrea

There is no such thing as freedom of speech on the internet. When you post on a website you commit to their terms of service/policies, etc. so why do you guys act as if you can say whatever you want and get away with it?

Greetings, Iron Lady tournament director here!

I posted this in the tournament thread too, but I'll paste it here just to it adds full clarification:

We have never had an issue with transgendered girls competing, Scarlett isn't the first nor wasn't the last transgendered girl to compete in Iron Lady. I can count them on more than one hand. She is just the first you hear about because she is really skilled.

It is not particularly unfair to the other women for several reasons. The main reason is there is no actual physical advantage to being a male in starcraft. Iron Lady is not about having female genitalia, but actually about bringing together and highlighting a pretty small part of the community (although now its growing significantly thanks to groups like GoSC,etc). If a person identifies as female, we see them as female. Of course for transgendered individuals we do a bit more background checking to make sure it isn't a troll, but to this day not a single transgendered has been a troll. This is mainly due to the fact that what guy is gonna go through so much trouble to pretend to be a girl (having pictures and all) just for a chance to win $100. I say chance because there is not even a guarantee a guy can take the tournament as a majority of the female players are masters and some even grandmasters.

Another reason transgendered are allowed is because its not actually good to disallow them. You have to realize that not every transgendered has even come out as being transgendered. Some girls you think are completely girls are actually trans, but they keep it a secret (mainly because of some of the responses you see in this thread). This in-turn would stir up too much controversy and witch hunts if there was ever a suspicion that a girl was not born a girl in our tournament. As a tournament organization we are not gonna get into the business of checking birth certificates and genitalia. If you have sufficient evidence that you are female, or at least identify as female, you are qualified to play in the Iron Lady cups.

Hope this help!
Congrats to Scarlett and all that she has achieved and will achieve!

why is this guy got banned?did he insult any1 or there's no more freedom of speech in TL. such a shame

1) To my knowledge the Iron Lady tournament was well aware of Scarlett's situation and still allowed her to compete. No rules were broken or tournament runner's mislead.

First, she was invited, actually. See her reddit post.

Secondly, on topic -- grats to Scarlett! :-) I hope that the rumors about Eclypsia wanting to expand more into Korea are true and that she gets a good chance to improve and play with the best. She obviously has the talent and dedication, but the current Eclypsia roster seems a bit limited -- hopefully that will change soon.

In MMA there's a physical difference between men and women. Men are stronger and have more muscle mass... In SC, this does not matter, so she won it fair and square if you ask me.

Alright then, no more Iron Lady talk. Its an embarrassment that the tournament director had to come to this thread to make it clear to you dolts.

Gratz Scarlett, I hope you have a lot of success :D

PS. great to see the mods taking the ignorance that always comes with gender questions seriously and banning/warning people who don't know what they are talking about.

Congratulations to her. After such an amazing performance, she deserves it. Also, male or female, whatever you pin point her as, she did amazing at IPL4, better then some more well-known players.

A lot of people derailing this thread.

I wonder if any Korean teams made her an offer. I thought they were talking to her at IPL.

... to be a fan or like a certain player they don't have to be GSL champions, good sir. The story behind players, their personality, their playstyle, ect are all factors in why people follow certain people. If this were the case, myself nor would tons of other incontrol fans be following him. She will prove to be fruitful in ways that winning major tournaments can provide.
