Personally, I'm okay with it although I'm a little annoyed. It's a niche market and as long as it makes money, it's gonna stay there.

They don't actually think they have anything special to offer which is worth $20 for 20 hours of Starcraft right? Sounds like a pathetic attempt to make some quick money to me. I would be absolutely amazed if they manage to get 5k viewers. I'm so happy Assembly is scheduled in the same weekend, atleast they will a great viewercount now.

This is closer to pushing what I'd be willing to pay, but I'm certainly willing to give them a chance on it. Not everyone can pay 20$ for one weekend... I don't know how you can be mad at people feeling entitled either when plently of other tourneys still offer lq streams. Also, I don't understand why you should really show loyalty to a tournament, you should watch what is best for you, so if people get mad that MLG decided to charge for ppv then they should go watch the other FREE tourney...

I think a long history of mediocre free content has turned many people into penny pinchers when it comes to esports. Hopefully the content MLG produces this year will truly raise standards and people will see that content can be produced that is worth this amount of money. But I've been disappointed before. Maybe it will be the same kind of thing we've always seen and not be worth the money at all. Who knows. This post really hits the nail on the head, and to be honest, if MLG gets a quarter of the viewers throwing down money for Winter Arena this will be a success.

I'd stop paying GOM aswell if I thought their pricing went too high, not because I can't afford it but because it's not worth it.

What is the basic championship experience? The big convention style events that they had last year with the massive live audience If I see another post comparing this to NBA PPV I am going to punch my monitor. The difference in scale between the NBA, MLB, and NFL is HUGE, those leagues have multibillion dollar television agreements, and sell out stadiums with 50k people at 50-500 a ticket. The NBA was a sustainable model before they introduced PPV online, they priced it at the level they thought would maximize revenue(Cost to provide the service are so low). MLG is not sustainable right now, most LAN tournaments are not. Its not even comparable.

I would hate myself if I were to buy this. Also this would set a precedent. In the future you think you will be paying less as esports grows (if it does)? I don`t want 20 dollars to become standard for a 3 day event.
