MLG here is what I am willing to pay: $60 for the same as last year (six Pro Circuit events).
You also need to announce the casters, and soon, before anyone commits to this kind of money.

Theres no reason to believe that this will help 'raise standards' as opposed to 'make MLG a shit ton of profit if successful'. Nor do I care about 'raised standards' if it means SC2 will become an expensive, PPV-laden hobby. I paid for 4 seasons of GSL before it became unreasonably priced, I've paid for two ESL.tv events (very low price, much higher quality than this event will be). I hope this initiative fails and people don't become suckered by the ever-present 'support E-sports!!1!' lines, but we'll see and good luck to MLG and the events to follow this in the future if it succeeds.

What is the basic championship experience? Everything they had last year is the same. You can watch the equivalent of the stuff they had last year for free, or you can get HD for a little money. The new content that they are adding this year that wasn't in place last year now is going to cost money.

If Sundance hasn't proven that he has a vision for e-sports yet, that he listens to the fans with their every complaint --well... aside from Extended series-- then I could appreciate this reaction. But... Sundance has proven that he cares. And he has said before that if e-sports is to be successful as a business it can't keep leaking money with advertisements being the only stopper. Personally I'm fine with this. I would NOT have been fine with this if this was a year ago. Dallas was a terrible, TERRIBLE thing. But with the quality that MLG (and other tournaments) provide, I am more than willing to pay for it. 2011 was a test run for SC2 as a serious international e-sport and it widely surpassed pretty much everyone's expectations. It's time to pay the piper now and I'm sorry to those that don't understand that. I'll be enjoying watching this fantastic event without you guys I guess. Who cares what he has done in the past, or his vision of ESPORTS is. The truth is that he is isolating the MLG fan base, and isn't even doing it in a matter that is coherent. For one, the GSL is a better deal in EVERY SINGLE WAY, and two it is the same weekend as another tournament with a good player list as well. Oh yeah, and they offer a free stream.

Or do the freed vods one week later do the trick? Actually they are alright as they provide the VODs for free one week after.

Theyre spending $100k+ on bringing together the best starcraft 2 players in the world, putting on high production, and youre telling them to fuck off? For 20 bucks? Thats being selfish, and asking for way more than you deserve. So many spoiled brats who don't appreciate anything Guess whats happens if MLG doesnt make money? No more tournies. Are you going to complain when that happens as well? Maybe these spoiled brats you claim everyone as value the dollar bill more highly then you. For some people it is expensive, when all they want to do is watch starcraft, which other tournaments are providing for free. Its hard to compete with a free event

Obviously you can say that "well the game costs 60$ and look at how much your computer costs", but that's not the same, you can't compare them. I'm 15 and there is no way that i would pay 20$ just to watch ONE event, maybe for a month of GSL i'd pay. Out of intrest, how much does PPV cost for the viewers of boxing/MMA or whatever else? Also, someone should make a poll to see how many people are going to pay for this and how many are not. I've edited my post on the first page with a poll. you can quote your own poll/report it and it'll show up in multiple places but still work. edit:

I really hope this fails hard. I could afford the 20$ if I wanted too but I will absolutely not pay for this simply because of how they are pricing it relative to the GSL while being a worse tournament. It is completely ridiculous.
