Cannot publicly display a subscribed service without a special license. UFC being played at a bar have to get a special subscription and license. Considering the news suggests watching at a Barcraft, I doubt that. It's a dangerous precedent, which is easy for MLG to flip on. GomTV was for Barcrafts at the start, not so any more. Numerous people, including my local barcraft, got a email where they asked not to continue to show matches from one account.
Whoa, really? I never knew about this... Well, does GOM give any option for Barcrafts to pay for a "Barcraft"-account? In any case, its a real shame if Barcrafts are not happening because of this....

Theyre spending $100k+ on bringing together the best starcraft 2 players in the world, putting on high production, and youre telling them to fuck off? For 20 bucks? Thats being selfish, and asking for way more than you deserve. So many spoiled brats who don't appreciate anything GSL - $15 Season Pass. Enough said.

Now I'm so excited to see if they produce something worth $20 dollars! oOooO Pressure's on!!

I'm paying, MLG always delivers on their events.
Sadly I think this is where MLG realizes that they aren't going to be able to recoup their investment on the live events last year. Simply not enough paying viewers (not a problem with people who don't pay, much, just that the overall viewer isn't really large enough to pay for all these premium events, GSL etc)

so no low quality live stream? rofl k, looks like i just wont be watching then

But with the quality that MLG (and other tournaments) provide, I am more than willing to pay for it. 2011 was a test run for SC2 as a serious international e-sport and it widely surpassed pretty much everyone's expectations. It's time to pay the piper now and I'm sorry to those that don't understand that. I'll be enjoying watching this fantastic event without you guys I guess.
This sums up my thoughts well. The sense of entitlement is huge. I've honestly thought GSL undervalued their goods in my opinion. This is closer to pushing what I'd be willing to pay, but I'm certainly willing to give them a chance on it.

Good business decision I suppose, I'll wait and see, though I doubt the Dallas debacle will be repeated.

If I did not know better I'd think this was Angel Munoz or Gus Ledesma puppeteering Sundance.

i don't mind paying something for good quality stream (but there should always be a trash stream where you can see something) but 20$ is too much, even for a rich nerd
consider how global the starcraft 2 community is, this is a really bad move, i'm pretty sure almost no east european will pay this e.g.

It's one weekend, at times when I am not going to see any of the games on Friday and miss maybe the last few games on the other days due to time-zones so it's definitely not worth it. The multiple streams isn't even beneficial for me because of my shit bandwidth, it's disappointing overall really. Especially when the VOD's will be made available eventually anyway.
|
I will hold on to my money for now. If they deliver (which I hope they will do), I might buy it for next "arena" but it is outrageously expensive.
Dreamhack on other hand ...
|
I think this is a really bad idea...
|
I will be watching only ASUS ROG then.

It's extra tough to spend money on a league where the top dogs of the company make stupid systems that I think no one wants.
Name me one player that supports the extended series rule.
There has been massive input to get rid of the rule, but it always falls on deaf ears.

It's such a good deal - just how poor are you? you've all been spoiled by free, unsustainable, low standard content, says I for 170$ you get to stream every NBA game in the entire season with commentary at the highest quality on the web. You also get the VODs. In a normal NBA season there are 1230 games that each last a few hours. If i counted correctly, there are 62 x Bo3 in the winter arena. I think its fair if not charitable to MLG to equate one Bo3 to one basketball game. That brings us to 62 matches for 20$ vs 1230 matches for 170$. thoughts? Are you really comparing NBA to Starcraft2 ??? we are so not there yet.. NBA has all the major sponsors possible . If it didnt you would have to pay 2000.. to cover their expenses...
Think about what youre saying. if 100,000 people pay for NBA league pass, which is probably way less than the number of people who actually buy league pass at 2000$ that is 200 Million dollars. Do you really think that streaming NBA games costs that much?
