I have greatly enjoyed MLG in the past... so I'll probably buy a ticket provided the player list is awesome. There better be no huge down-times between games now though. Not for $20.

You could just as well think of it as prize and then the prize pool is 125k.... MLG has the best players in the world right now. NesTea,MVP,HuK,MC,PartinG,MarineKing,NaNiwa,Leenock,Oz...... You rarely see such stacked tournament. If we want Esports to grow this is necessary. So making students who are the major viewers of those events and who can't afford much money not being able to watch some streams is necessary for esports to grow ? Isn't that quite the opposite ?

Don't hesitate, book today! SICKEST deal right here, screw the barcraft can I just fly you out to watch MLG in my room with me?

Do these guys realize that a ticket for GSL, the premium and best SC2 tournament since the end of 2010, an almost TWO MONTH tournament, costs 15$? Please take a moment and read that sentence again. GSL, 2 months - 15$. MLG Winter Arena (not even the main MLG event), 3 days - 20$. Do MLG even realize that there are other tournaments people can choose from? You're not the only ones!!! People that cannot afford to purchase tickets for all the tournaments will have to make a choice, and you can bet your ass MLG will not be the top choice with 20$ for 3 days. Also, good job trying to promote SC2 to new players/fans by not providing a free stream for the event, even in low quality. TLDR: Disappointment Yeah... Also the production and the games are better for GSL... I just don't understand. But I hope assembly is good at least.

yes, we want to grow esports and make the people delivering it rich as hell. but this is too fast and ill designed to harness the audience into $$$. if the cost was much lower then it would be MUCH better. oh and you NEED a free stream, you can lose so many potential members if you do not have a dedicated free stream going on all the time. If only MLG had waited until things got hella big. then they wouldnt need us to pay. since so many of us freaking watch, the sponsors will roll in. now...the viewers are gonna drop and sponsors are going to see esports as a fluke.

It's such a good deal - just how poor are you? you've all been spoiled by free, unsustainable, low standard content, says I That's not the point. For MLG to charge $20 for 2 days for an event, you have to weigh that price against other things that we have. You don't just ignore the competitive prices of other events when you go to pay for something. You don't go to the grocery store and buy something for more money when you can get something the same or better for less. GSL charges less and has higher production and still offers a free alternative. Assembly will have free HD streams going on at the same time as this MLG event. We've had previous MLG, Dreamhack, GSL, etc all for free and to be honest it's been MLG that's been more known for 'technical difficulties and crappy formats' than any of the others yet they are the ones going first for the PPV model? My first thought was comparing MLG to GSL. GSL you get a few months of content for $5 less and GSL has a higher prize pool, why is it then that GSL gives more money to the players and charges less? MLG is doing something wrong, I know they are paying travel and what not but they also seem to have more sponsors than GSL and they run ads, which GSL doesn't. All in all, I feel like they are being extremely greedy and if someone can't/doesn't want to pay $20 for MLG you shouldn't call THEM greedy or poor because it's MLG who's begging for money.

20 bucks for a 3 day event isn't much money, but relative to other SC2 paid content it is. MLG had better deliver a damn good product.

If Sundance hasn't proven that he has a vision for e-sports yet, that he listens to the fans with their every complaint --well... aside from Extended series-- then I could appreciate this reaction. But... Sundance has proven that he cares. And he has said before that if e-sports is to be successful as a business it can't keep leaking money with advertisements being the only stopper. Personally I'm fine with this. I would NOT have been fine with this if this was a year ago. Dallas was a terrible, TERRIBLE thing. But with the quality that MLG (and other tournaments) provide, I am more than willing to pay for it. 2011 was a test run for SC2 as a serious international e-sport and it widely surpassed pretty much everyone's expectations. It's time to pay the piper now and I'm sorry to those that don't understand that. I'll be enjoying watching this fantastic event without you guys I guess.
