sad news but i kinda saw this coming. i didn't think they would have much room for these two since they brought on puma huk and JYP

Sad news Strifecro was a very underrated player by everyone here and Axslav was clearly popular.

Hope that they both get picked up soon!

Hopefully they can find a new team and continue on as progamers but this decision from EG isn't surprising.

This seems to be what everyone is saying, but I disagree. The stereotypical progamer is an idealistic kid right out of high school; Axslav and Strifecro are in their mid-20's with college degrees. I wouldn't be surprised if Strifecro moves to Vancouver to play poker and Axslav moves back to silicon valley and gets a real job with his computer science degree. Playing video games for a living sounds a lot cooler than the reality of cutthroat fighting and sacrifice for table scraps.
Of course, you only live one life, and you make all your mistakes, and learn what not to do, and that’s the end of you.

let's ditch all homegrown talent in favour of korean trained superstars. sound business decision, but i don't like EG as a result. fortunately for them, i'm just one voice of many.

They paid massive money for Huk and Idra. They care about NA talent if they're good enough. If there was another NA player in their skill range you better believe EG would be interested but there isn't.

fair enough. i live in canada, so i compare an NHL team to these SC2 "teams".

EG cuts players that aren't performing at the level they want them too. see ya good luck. in other pro sports there are multiple options for keeping a player you've invested time and money into, for example: paying them substantially less than their star players (i assume that was already the case). sending them to the minors, extra training regimens etc.

i don't know i just feel that teams that cut players loose like this are throwing away good money/time that they've invested into a player, and losing fans that support these players. my 2 cents

What the hell is with all the "no surprise here" posts. With Axslav, we're talking about a guy who beat White-Ra in a BO7 this week WHILE walking the viewer through his every move and thought process. Axslav is definitely A class with a stream that was growing every week: yes surprise.

More a lack of surprise over EG releasing players period, not specifically who the players were.

I think either Fnatic Axslav or Quantic Axslav, I think it would be cool for Axslav to go to quantic since he'll be on the same team as iNkA, (ex-EG players) and Destiny(they've had a bit of history in tournaments, MLG, IPL).

I wonder if Axslav and StrifeCro will stay with each other on whichever team they join. Should be interesting.

I doubt it. In the recent ESL 2v2 tournament, StrifeCro played with dde and Axslav played with Machine.

GoSuStrifeCro perhaps.

Guys, Axslav and strifes contracts probably went out about now, thats why they are released. Most likely.

Will the same happen to lz when his contract goes out? Maybe

saw this coming, but why not incontrol too?

incontrol is a bigger personality then either of them with many many fans, even if you are not one. plus he has had more success at the start of the year in mlgs, and recently beating thorzain and having a good showing at hsc. and ana is one of the lead eg managers at the house.

shit, that's heavy. sad to see them go, as i'm sure the whole team is. good luck to nick and cong, i'm sure they'll excel elsewhere should they continue progaming.

No way must have missed that. What tournament was that in?

It was just an educational showmatch. Axslav was replacing White-Ra's oppenent at the last minute.

They've also had EG players from games besides SC2 stay there for periods of time as well I believe.

Today I learned WC3 had a 2v2 league. I wonder if it was more entertainting to watch than WC3's 1v1 league of orcs vs elfs. Can't say this move is at all surprising. I think 2011 was the last year of b-teamer foreigners to be relevant anymore. Only the best of the A-class foreigners will be able to compete at the same performance level of the koreans. These first few months of 2012 is the last chance for these lesser performing foriegners to prove themsemles and either put up or shut up.
