There has been a lot of attention toward the new member of the TSL team, Ko “Hyun” Seok Hyun who used to be a Starcraft Broodwar Pro Gamer.
On the 28th (Korean time), TSL has announced that they will be recruiting Hyun in order to rebuild the team while Clide, Killer, and JYP has left. For more information on that, visit Team SCV Life Big Change
Hyun has been part of a team (which is now gone) as a Broodwar pro-gamer; MBC Game Heroes. He joined the MBC Game Team in the year 2005 and has debuted in 2006 at the MSL Survivor Tournament. His official record is 194 games 84 Wins 110 Loss.
At the Pro-League, he recorded 71wins and 80 loss and in the year 2009, he played as the leading Zerg player for the MBC Game. In 2008, he was recognized for his 6 Winning spree and in 2009 for ending “The Ultimate Weapon” Flash (KT)’s 14 winning spree.
Even though he does not have a very high winning rate, he has been loved by a lot of the fans for his very aggressive playing style. Hyun tended to be a little weak in the late game, therefore he was known for his mid-game ending game instead of pro-longing the game forever and continued the strong Zerg legacy of the MBC Game that began with Park "July" Sung Joon (now member of the team Startale).
Hyun is very well known for his creative ceremonies. Hyun comes up with brilliant ceremonies, making him one of the more popular broodwar pro gamer comparatively to his records.
After the MBC Game Team has been dispatched, Hyun was not able to join the other 8 Pro teams, therefore he has decided to move on and join Starcraft 2. And Hyun had past friendship with the coach of TSL therefore he decided to join team TSL.
Currently Hyun is not as good as some of the other Starcraft 2 pro-gamers. But TSL Coach believes that he will be able to catch up soon since Hyun already has a great sense of gaming sense and a great practicing habit since Starcraft 1.
Hyun will be joining the TSL Team House on the night of the 28th, beginning his intense training.
Would be delighted if Ryo could maybe share some "insider" information how that happens, and if there's a possibility of former Hero players joining TSL and Lee?(Or switching in general)
Lee used to be one of the coaches for MBC Heroes and HyuN wasn't picked up by any teams thus he was forced to retire from BW.
Lee just took advantage of a great opportunity to lock down one of the teams top rookies. 30 players were forced to retire as a result of the folding teams. Not all of them are going to cross over.
Kinda funny how some people don't know who he is cause they came to TL during the SC2 wave.
Gonna be funny as shit when BW finally dies and SC2 takes over with a mega influx of BW pro gamers coming and ripping apart the scene, ppl gonna like where did these ppls come from and how did they get so good so fast! But nice info nonetheless

With more free agents after the disband of Oz and MBCHero I won't be surprised that Pefectman is going to be the SC2 Protoss Bonjwa lol. He sucked in BW but he can still crush face vs foreigners+MC
lol, when i read the thread name, I thought it was someone who actually didn't know who Hyun is and was too lazy to TLPD. Was getting ready to rage hard at my computer screen.
Nice write-up. I think a couple things you said are a little off, but it's good education for most sc2 players who have no idea. Looking forward to seeing him play. He's got the potential to be very good and very exciting.

Just youtubed "hyun ceremony" and laughed a bit at this....wth kinda ceremony is this lol.
they always had ceremonies at the group selections after one player got introduced. hyuns drunken brawler ceremony was the best at the abcmart msl group selections :D i hope he can catch up soon and show us some nice games!

Who else did they sign? Or are you really talking about Hyun? lol rookie ?
I've seen your edit but sorry, thats not what it looks like from what we read...

1:37 The Dong is amused
Also they have prizes for the best ceremony at the group selection, which is why some of these guys plan and perform some elaborate stuff (aka leta at the one before that one :p)

This was one of the funnier selection ceremonies. At least I think it was this one...
Edit: Nvm, maybe it was the one before this one... BW Selection ceremonies were AMAZING.

Polt is an ex-semi pro WC3 player, which explains for his emphasis on control than macro.
I'm glad sc2 gives players like Hyun a second chance at being a progamer. He is very skilled and will likely be a strong player in a few months. Should be fun to see how he progresses. I hope he works hard and does well.
I always thought Hyun was a pretty terrible Zerg, but that's my opinion on any BW progamer Zerg that can't multitask or manage the late-game well. SC2 will probably help him fix up that glaring weakness of his lol, best of luck to him
Every time, Hyun comes up with brilliant ceremonies, making him one of the most popular broodwar pro gamer
Hyun one of the most popular broodwar pro? This is completely wrong, sorry.
No, he (the author) isn't. HyuN is one of the most popular Brood War pros. Koreans love him for his crazy ceremonies. He's won or been in the running for the "Ceremony King" award at every Group Selection. Just because foreigners don't like him doesn't mean he isn't popular.
Finally a proper A team zerg playing SC2. I'm sure with SC2's UI Hyun won't have any more problems in the late game. Honestly right now there isn't a single zerg in SC2 with an amazing late game so I hope Hyun will be the first.
On November 29 2011 16:12 Cedstick wrote: What was the MSL before that ABC one? His previous ceremony, where he played that generic anime badass, was pretty great.
Not anime.
He was playing the lead character (Dae Gil) from the block buster KBS Korean drama Chuno. The finale of the drama was on the same day as the Hana Daetoo MSL Group Selection so he chose the Chuno ceremony. Sea helped him with the ceremony by pretending to play dead as Hyun slashed his "sword" at the players. Sea also helped Hyun write his speech for the ceremony. After the ceremony Hyun earned two of his present nicknames, "Seok Gil" and Ko Chuno. He also received the MVP award at the Group Selection.

Yes, this is very true. Hyun is quite popular in Korea. Because of his ceremonies and his generally entertaining playing style.

If you just spoiled the code a match i will hate you.
Good luck hyun , despite some people may label you as a bad zerg , watching your games has always been fun and you are one kind of a zerg pretty unique especially trying to go crazy zerg on 3 hatch .

Different cases really. NesTea's BW career was a pretty strange one and it's unfair to call it a failure or him 'god-awful' without looking at it in more detail. First of all, he started pretty late after completing his military service which 99.9% of other progamers do not do. He also didn't really get a full shot at 1v1s and was pushed into doing 2v2s when they were still part of the league. You can understand why he didn't really shine as a SC1 progamer.

Yup I agree I think MVP is overrated.
Like I heared MVP was Top8 of the BW Proleague at the point he switched. This new guy looks like complete trash compared to MVP. I bet 100€ he won't win ANYTHING in 2012.

No need to sugarcoat it... Nestea was just bad in BW, and if he were any good he'd have gotten a shot at more tournaments outside of 2v2. I doubt 2v2 was his choice or preference, it's just that he wasn't able to make it.
But to be fair, I wouldn't say he was worse at all at BW than everyone in sc2 not named MVP.

Heared.
Anyways this is going to be awesome. I think Hyun will play kinda like July, aggressive as hell but hopefully he doesn't toss won games by suiciding his whole army.
This transition will be easy for him, he's got Zergs like Nestea and Losira and Leenock to learn from instead of figuring everything out this time last year.
Nice! I'm very excited to see how the new sc:bw kids will do in sc2! I will be surprised if they do not get in code A/S, but will they actually take titles?

forGG (Fin) actually . In the most recent BW days, forGG > Hyun IMO, but still will be cool to see what Hyun can do

Bw players are not kid's please .
haha, im older than Nestea, so for me all the players are kids, no offense meant. Didn't even think about it when I wrote it. Sorry if I upset some of you!! I will not refer to The Emperor as a kid, but he is the only exception. I played sc1 since beta, so rest assure that I have plenty of respect for the skill of the sc:bw kids.

lolwut just look at the sheer number of pro games played. Hyun got 200, more than double that of mvp. The guy must be fuckin stable to be fielded in MBC lineup for 3,4 years straight. Plz name any sc2 player that was playing in Proleague frequently last season. thx
