On November 28 2011 11:54 yoonstar91 wrote: In order to rebuild a strong team, the coach of TSL had no choice but to release his ace players, but his voice was still calm.
On the 28th, Coach Lee had a phone interview with the thisisgame.com and explained that “With current circumstances with the team, the players realized that they cannot win therefore the players and I had to make a hard decision.”
TSL already having experience with Seo "TricksteR" Ki Soo and Kim "FruitDealer" Won Ki leaving the team, the fans are already worried with the new news of the ace players leaving. But the coach still seemed calm.
The coach stated that “the decision was for the better good for both of us. We have talked over and over again and I needed to rebuild a team with the young players in order to have a chance at winning. Unfortunately such action will only hurt these three players. Therefore we had no choice but to end up with this decision.”
Coach Lee has also stated that the rest of the players love the new practice system and are blazing with the thirst for victory. According to the coach, at first, the new system was unstable with lots of doubts, but a lot of the members are continuing to work hard to make it hard.
Even though the farewell decision was for the better good of both the players and the team, TSL is still losing the ace players who have been leading the team since the beginning. Therefore we have asked the coach for a last message from the coach to the players: Killer, Clide, and JYP. “We have had a lot of serious talks for a while and everything we talked about was sincere. We will continue to support you guys and continue to show the fans how great you guys are. In particular, as much as he wanted to join the SlayerS team, I wish he does well in GSL.
In the hopes of improving the team, TSL has recruited Ko “Hyun” Seok Hyun who have been a progamer until with Starcraft Broodwar.
Coach has stated that "he was able to recruit Hyun because he knew him quite well before and his personality goes along well with our team. I know that he is a very enthusiastic player even when he was part of the MBC Game. Unfortunately, with the dispatching of the MBC Game, Hyun really wanted to join our team and this was a perfect timing for him to join since we are currently in the middle of rebuilding the team."
Also regarding the timing of when Hyun will be trying out for the GSL, Coach has stated that "he is still lacking in skills, but he will improve alot fast since he has joined our team. Our team has a lot of good Zerg players and Hyun has a great sense of decision making skills. I believe he will need about 3 months before attempting to play in the GSL. Personally, I hope to be able to get him to play in GSL by next season. "
TSL has announced a major restructuring of the team.
Coach Lee stated on the 28th "In order to become a stronger team, TSL plans to undergo restructuring. As a result we will part ways with Clide, Killer and JYP while at the same time signing former Brood War professional HyuN, in an attempt to start fresh."
TSL has been widely rated as a small group of elite players in a family-like environment. However they have produced no GSL winners since FruitDealer (now in StarTale) and while favoured to win the first season of the GSTL could not advance past the playoffs.
Although the signing of Polt has added a champion to their current roster, Coach Lee determined that under the current team system it would be difficult to produce another champion. Thus in order to produce champions and to win the upcoming season of the GSTL he changed the team's training regime among other things.
During this process the opinions of the existing ace players were respected as much as possible. The existing players also wanted change, and the direction of some players and the team wanted to take did not align; as such, they decided to part ways to further the interests of both parties. At the same time, the remaining players expressed their support of the team in order to create a more structured and efficient practice regime than previously.
Coach Lee stated "I anticipate that the departure of many key players from the team will cause many fans to worry and a number of rumors to be perpetuated. However I would like to emphasize that this decision was not made on the base of a rift within the team or contract issues and was entirely mutual, based on both the players' and the team's respect for one another and desire for further progress."
Indeed, when this decision was made Coach Lee, Clide, Killer and JYP all expressed their grief at having to part ways. But Coach Lee did not want to forcefully drag his players into the new team system and the players also did not want to interfere with the team's restructuring.
As such Coach Lee decided to respect the player's wishes and ended their contractual relationship and the players, wishing TSL the best, decided to embark on new challenges. Clide has transferred to SlayerS, and Killer and JYP will seek out new teams while remaining teamless for the time being.
In the meantime TSL intends to add further new players to their roster in order to increase their depth and produce a GSL champion in 2012. The first such new player on their roster is former MBC Game Hero player HyuN, who decided to switch over to StarCraft II after the disbanding of MBC Game Hero and his inability to transfer to a new team. He particularly wanted to join TSL because of his prior relationship with Coach Lee while in MBC Game Hero.

SlayerS is going to need a new house soon lol. And I don't understand why they left, they had such a strong team going once again. They are weak once again. I wonder where JYP and SangHo are going. They are both strong protosses.
TSL has had a string of players leaving but it seems there is something fundamentally wrong with the team. Shame because TSL was the first team with an awesome jersey/jackets. I still love their winter attire =(

Wow, how come there are so many people leaving TSL? We've heard plenty-a-time that it's a great environment there. I really like TSL and every time someone leaves it saddens me alot, especially this one Oh well, all the best to 'em. Excited for HyuN tho
Well this team is just confusing as hell. After the Puma, Fruitdealer, and Tester debacles I would've bet this was going to happen eventually but they've been pretty stable for the past few months.
This is really depressing to see TSL being smacked around all the time by players leaving. I really feel bad for coach Lee. Sangho lost points in my book for being the captain of a team and then parting ways. The reasoning is a tad irrelevant to me; there are always dark times before good times.
I hope TSL can find a way to keep their heads up, and bounce back.
Well, the only thing that is really shocking is Killer leaving. Either TSL is falling off, or they are getting an influx of new players we just don't know about. Hopefully it's new players (not that I am not a fan of the players who left).
With proper coaching, practice partners, and the greatest terran arsenal team. Clide will become one of the sickest terrans up to par with MMA. Can't wait to see Clide's results after joining Slayers.
So how good is this hyun guy? Is he better than MVP? MVP made some good runs in the end of his BW career and defeated players like best, can hyun be better than MVP in starcraft 2?
Hm really surprising that clide and killer would leave, I have no doubt that TSL will bounce back but its looking rough for them. I also wonder where JYP will end up hopefully he'll join a good team to keep improving as he looked really good in gsl prior to the up and down matches.
SlayerS adds another strong Terran player. I wonder why TSL is falling apart, things were just looking up for them since FruitDealer and Tester left. Wonder where SangHo and JYP will be headed to.

Hope he joins a team like IM, they desperately need some good protosses.
Poor TSL, they have some great players still on their team (in particular im thinking of alive and polt, don't know much about Hyun), but this isn't great news for TSL, hopefully the players on the team can come out of it okay and still stay active in the sc2 team!

Seed and Yonghwa are some of the best in Korea. Just a shame they haven't gotten a good run into the GSL yet T_T

TSL will be fine. Remember when FXO lost their best player sC?
They just had a MLG national champion and two players in the Semi-finals of Code S. TSL are fine in terms of Terran (Polt, Alive), and Revival is pretty good. They just need to find a few good Ps and a Z. After that, practice house environment will be good enough to spawn better players. With Coach Lee being connected to the BW scene, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls some big names in the future.
With Clide joining SlayerS I think we will finally see him win the GSL like tastosis have been hyping about for the past year. If MMA can do it, then I have faith that Clide can do it as well. Seems like SlayerS is becoming the Korean equivalent of EG now, and TSL seems to have some serious internal issues going on.
There does seem to be something somewhat odd about the premiere players constantly leaving TSL. First FruitDealer and Tester, now Clide, Killer and JYP. Not to mention the whole Puma thing. TSL just doesn't seem able to hold on to players -- but at the same time they seem to be quite capable of finding and cultivating talent, so I've got a feeling they'll be just fine.
I wonder if they're really stingy about paying their players.

No, HyuN sucks. And it's a myth MVP made any good runs in BW he won about 3 games total that were notable. I'd say HyuN was probably the same level.
TSL probably disbanding.. Its really hard for me to read into this in any other way, since Clide and Killer both have been very active communicating their loyality to TSL.. Truely a shame if that is the case

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aLive and Polt where art thou going, but omg is SlayerS going to be fucking stacked with Terran powerhouses, I know it's redundant but shit lol
What the hell happened? I thought that after the drama revolving around PuMa both Clide and Killer both signed contracts with TSL. Whatever happened it must have been serious for both Clide and Killer to leave.
I'm glad to see they acquired a BW pro though. People need to realize compared to like 99% of SC2 players, Hyun was like miles better than them in BW (this includes Nestea).
On November 28 2011 11:41 IrOnKaL wrote: I wouldn't be surprised if killer joined a foreign team like EG since he is like bff with HuK and Puma
I doubt it because that would mean he would have to stay in the SlayerS house and I doubt that they can make space for another 2 players, unless EG helps them pay for a new house to be able to accommodate everyone. Plus if EG was going to pick up another player they would obviously make a huge hype campaign around it. Don't you know EG by now
I just wanna say Hyun was the guy who snapped Flash's massive win streak once upon a time. Dont think too much into it since he was still pretty mediocre and is actually 1-5 vs Flash but just a cute fact. :3

Wow Killer was the captain too, and now there are no protoss players. Huge disadvantage for TSL practice :/, really hope they get some good protoss pick ups soon

What the heck? We need more e-sports yellow press, how did that happen? Background info pls. I guess they'll need to get another 2 P at least. No way this lineup will do anything in GSTL. Also, SlayerS is getting big. They'll have to share beds soon^^

Damn they used to be one of my favorite KR teams. Now though I guess all my love goes to slayers. Hopefully sangho finds a good team, he's a favorite of mine
Clide and Sangho were always awesome, and their run in the GSTL was amazing. After losing so many players and being unable to use polt, they still came first in their group.
What?!? 3 of their best players leave wtf... They add a BW pro meh it doesn't even out. I wonder where Killer and JYP will go... TSL is a roller coaster.
Seems like TSL had a house cleaning. Clide, Killer and JYP were good players but not elite. I thought TSL had adopted stricter practice regimens which is why Tester and Fruitdealer left but it looks like they're getting even more hardcore now. Perhaps we're about to see an influx of ex-bw pros from the B-teamers who lost their jobs during the recent Brood War consolidation? Hyun is probably just the first piece of the puzzle.
Too lazy to translate the entire article (d-: Any takers?), but basically it is a reaffirmation of what was stated in the original article with a few extra tidbits, such as Clide having wanted to transfer to SlayerS (for how long is not stated), the remaining players like the new system and are working hard, and Coach Lee and HyuN expects about 3 months' time is required for him to get into GSL Code A.
Holy fucking shit. Pretty sick news in a way - time for Clide to take a championship =P It did seem like the team's attitudes didn't line-up, and there was too much respect for each member: Clide's a practice monster, JYP a huge talent and Killer kinda a wildcard.
I'd call JYP to EG. No idea where Killer will go - he's never really expressed interest in foreigner events (that I've heard) and it doesn't seem like he's had the fire that got him to A-teamer status in BW. It's sad, seems he's lost it since he got mentioned in the match-fixing stuff and his father died (or was ill? Don't remember).
Hopefully TSL can bounce back and I have to wonder if Coach Lee is going to try and use his strong ties with brood war to try and bring in some BW players.
Anyway GL to Clide in SlayerS(another idra rival teammate ) GL to killer and JYP on finding new teams. and GL to TSL. Hopefully they come back strong.
I would just like to say that I am devastated by this news. I love all of TSL's members, best of luck to the players that are leaving, and hopefully the team can bounce back from this.
Nice to see Hyun playing and best of luck to TSL. I feel as though this is a trickle leaking through a crack in the dam and after the current PL season the flood of BW players will come crashing through.
After reflecting on this a little bit, the biggest deal here is probably where JYP goes. Any team would be smart to pick him up, and any foreign team that manages to snag him would be pretty lucky as well.

KeSPA might form their own SC2 divisions but there will be no "flood" of BW players to current SC2 teams, I can assure you that.

Seriously, that feels bizarre.
Otherwise this kinda of seems like... making room for more ex-BW players? ;x
you guys realize, tsl is nowhere near disbanding, if coach lee could keep together his team when FD and trickster left, this will seem like child's play. alive, polt, revival, and hyun are all very capable players which is more than I can say for 1/2 the sc2 teams in korea.
So SlayerS now has 6 of the best terrans in the world (yes I count BoxeR). SangHo I wouldn't be surprised to see picked up quickly - maybe even by a foreign team. JYP will hopefully get onto a top-flight team soon.
SangHo joining a foreign team makes a lot of sense. He's had really strong connections with both Artosis + Tasteless and has decent English! Gogo Liquid
Why is everyone saying that TSL is gonna disband soon?
Coach Lee knows the situation better than all of us and it was a decision that he thought out carefully, I'd imagine. I believe he will start adding ex-BW players who quit recently, who still are young and ambitious and not behind their peak performance. Pretty sure TSL will be a stronger team in near future.
Even though it's sad that these players leaving TSL, it is important that they did. It seems that they did not agree on the restructuring of practice at TSL (i.e. more regimented practice) and hence they had to go to a team which allows more flexible practice.

This is a pretty gigantic change. Do they even have enough players to participate in the GSTL now?
I wonder what coach Lee is planning, he must have some signups prepared already, I don't think he'd make such a move without possible signups ready, maybe some more ex-BW pros? There's been many who've been sighted playing SC2 so it's a possibility.

I'm pretty sure it was the opposite, TSL was known to have a strict practice schedule. That was the main reason trickster & FD left
There does indeed happen to be a common denominator with all these conflicts of interest and big changes within TSL, and it's since it's different players leaving each time that only leaves one person...

Coach Lee left MBC in July 2010 so many of the players on last season's MBC roster have never been coached by him.
completely unexpected, and while it's sad to see sangho, clide, and jyp leave, i am hopeful for the future of tsl, i dont think they'd change the way the team is structured without good reason.
I'm not terribly surprised Clide joined SlayerS. Clide apparently taught MMA how to play when MMA first started, and they are very good friends. Their friendship was very clear from a visual standpoint as well after they played one another last season. I wish all players and teams involved the best of luck.

Dear sir, have you played AriA on ladder, or are people already aware of AriA's identity? I feel like after the Huk v AriA replay that name hasn't really made another appearance.
Also, on an unrelated note: believe it or not SlayerS actually has an enormous Protoss and Zerg lineup; each as long as the Terran roster. Their roster is extraordinarily deep.
Oh wow, just this morning I decided to skim through a VOD of InControl, Destiny, Major, Catz and CombatEX and Major was talking (in spectator chat) about how there were 2 good SC1 Zergs joining TSL soon but didn't name who. Pretty fast that the announcement came.

I doubt it. Polt had a lot of freedom in Prime and he didn't stay at the house.
It seems after joining TSL he moved into the TSL house which probably means he wanted a more rigorous training scheme.
There's actually too many SlayerS players now. Almost feels like there are only a couple of proper teams in Korea with SlayerS being almost double the size of every other team there =/
Either other teams need to learn how to recruit better...or keep their players on more.
TSL looks like it's been struggling for a while now though. Feel bad for them =/

No I don't think killer is that good and I put him in the tester/fruit class. Well slightly above them. Killer was just one of those people like ensnare that managed to hang on to code s for a long time. His play just never impressed me and I always saw him as a lower end toss player.
Killer also never did well in foreign tourneys he went to. A high level korean should be able to wreck foreign tourneys or at least get far, but killer flamed out early in all his foreign tourneys.
Sad news about so many good players leaving TSL. At least my beloved Clide still has a team.
I hope someone picks up SangHo. He needs to be shufflin' somewhere! Well that and he's a sick good Protoss. He was the Protoss Hope(tm) last GSL after all. Plus he has a great personality and is super friendly on his stream.
JYP will be picked up instantly. That guy is so good.

He beat Polt in PvT. Very few Protoss beat Polt in that matchup as he has always been arguably one of the best Terrans at TvP. That says something. SangHo is the Clide of Protoss, he's not the best player but he is consistently good.

Yeah, but his PvZ and PvP is subpar.
I don't think we've seen enough of either match up recently to say that.
I don't really understand how losing 3 of your top 5 players is "rebuilding". I don't understand the move personally. Clide/Killer/JYP asking for a bigger salary or something? That is the only reason that would have this make sense
I have no idea how this is supposed to make any sense or how it will help the team rebuild. I want to trust in Coach Lee but with everything that has happened with TSL since summer that's hard to do sometimes.
I'm so sad. This hurts more than Fruitdealer / Tester leaving.
SangHo probably to a foreign team. I can't imagine seeing that guy teamless for too long. JYP is probably going to another Korean team, he's not popular enough in the foreign scene yet.
If Liquid wasn't so absolutely respectable, I would be clamoring for Liquid'Polt right now. :D
You guys realize TSL hasn't died. It's been reborn. It sounds weird but Coach Lee wanted this to happen. As in, Clide didn't just stand up and leave. He wants to start over and build a good team basically of champions which is why he kept people like Polt. and Hyun was a good friend of Coach Lee from MBCgameHERO.
Everyone here who is upset about them losing some random hacks, they've picked up HyuN. That's huge, he was a decent BW player, MUCH better than Fruitdealer, SangHo or Tester ever were.
He far outstripped even MVP, now the best sc2 player in the world.
TSL fans should be hugely excited about this acquisition.

It all depends on his first performance though. There are quite a few former BW players that are good, while others have just fallen off.
Heh all of the people that TSL have lost weren't really competitors, maybe clide will improve beyond being the worst code S terran with a better teaching team in slayers. and sangho is done for without a team. his career is done i think.
Poor TSL I hope they can bounce back from this, and pick up a couple of decent protoss players in the meantime too!! I'm happy Clide went to a team like SlayerS though, hopefully he can win a GSL now :p
So disappointing in SangHo leaving. There wasn't really reason for that...
Picking up HyuN is one thing, but TSL's Zerg players aren't necessarily the best for helping him succeed. Sure they are good Zerg players, but their styles are unorthodox and will probably jack up his game.
Losing Clide was a hit, but not as big as SangHo. Losing JYP is acceptable, even though TSL helped him boss through Code A and become a respectable Code S Protoss.
Briefly read through the comments here and everyone seems to be unaware that they have NO PROTOSS PLAYERS in their roster!!!
Unless they plan to lure some of NShoseo players, they're a doomed team just like ZeNEX. That gives me an idea, maybe those two teams would merge to become TSLZeNEX.

Well hey, this is just plain interesting! First of all, congrats to Clide! And I'm really interested in se eing what kind of team comes out of this. Although t his is unusual (letting go of 3 aces!) I feel that a coach wouldn't do something like that without a lot of confidence in what needs to be done. We'll have to see. TSL, Clide, JYP, SangHo and Hyun fighting! Another BW player to keep an eye on.

Killer had started to look good recently.
He just learns things too slowly to be without a team, he needs the constant feedback to avoid falling far behind. and he did well vs terran at the start of a time where most protosses are doing great vs terran. his other matchups are more questionable than huk's mysterious note to a fan a while back.
Seems like a lot of players have problems with TSL as a team. Polt stated that he did not agree with the "vision" TSL had for the future of starcraft. Whatever that meant... I get the feeling that management is at fault and it's driving a lot of players away. Gaining new players won't make a difference.

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER TSL!
Then why would he leave prime for tsl? He said he didn't agree with Prime's vision, so he left.
Someone PLEASE please please pick up JYP and let him train in Korea. That guy is such a boss. Absolutely calm under pressure, beaten some huge names etc. Shame he died to some brutal MKP timings in the up and downs last season to still remain in Code A.
Well, I am optimistic about TSL's future. I mean, look at where Fruitdealer and Tester are now. Of course, Clide will do well at SlayerS with the wisdom of BoxeR and Killer is just damn good, and JYP is very, very promising, but TSL is one of the hardest working teams and achieves a lot for their rather underrated roster.
Very excited to see Hyun joining, and I am confident in Coach Lee's scouting ability to rebuild TSL.

I love killer but I don't disagree he is mid tier at best. The reason however people still take note of him is his brood war past. People say it makes sense that MVP is the number one SC2 player at the moment because he was the highest skilled player to move from brood war to sc2. I agree with that statement and I believe that it is also applicable to the second, third, and so on players to have moved games. In the top 5 players to have transitioned would be sangho and so far by brood war fanboyism has not let me down. I've been watching MC since he got schooled by Polt and failed cheese against Nestea because he was the first a-teamer to move to sc2. He moved on to become the most accomplished korean protoss so far. I've been following MVP since he got schooled by zenio on metal and he's now the top player in the world. Same idea applies for Ganzi and the next one is going to be ForGG. These players don't really disappoint and sangho is in their company. I'd put him on the same level as MVP in terms of who to watch based on their brood war past. He may not be topping the protoss players right now but I really really feel strongly about him coming up eventually.
What exactly does he mean by not winning? They did really good in the past GSTL thanks to the players that they're letting go. Sometimes I get the feeling that Coach Lee just wants his team to be a farm team.

JYP fan right here
Wut? He is in korea... He's in code A, so he must be... What are you talking about? O.o, he's been in TSL for a LONNNGGG time
This sucks for now, but I have a feeling this will help TSL get back on their feet. There is a lot of talent out there now and I am sure if Coach Lee gets the system he wants going it should produce some wonderful players. Good luck to everyone involved in this change.
I think a lot of you guys aren't giving Coach Lee enough credit, this guy knows what he's doing. There are clearly some issues within TSL, but they still have Polt and Alive to keep them alive as far as carrying Code S players. Keep in mind JYP, SangHo, and Clide have all not quite lived up to the expectations or to their own potential while playing in the GSL.
What the hell? Killer and Clide were the last people I expected to leave, even if the team house was physically on fire. That's so strange. Those two were TSL for such a long time.
Even if it was mutual, I'd be very interested to hear what the actual difference in opinions was. Must have been kind of specific to push three known-to-be hardworking and dedicated players out the door. Unless they've had a huge change of heart, it can't be a repeat of Trickster/FD wanting to be lazy bums.
Also surely the last thing SlayerS needs is more Terrans... although with Leenock suddenly beasting it up, this might be Clide's time to shine. In my mind, the destinies of Leenock and Clide have been intertwined since their epic series back in the open seasons.
Also also.... TSL now has absolutely zero Protoss. lol. That's crazy.
I thought of buying their clothes for christmas but with these 3 SICK players leaving the team ? Gl to everyone though. With Clide joining SlayerS, I hope his results improve in the GSL.
poor TSL, giving up their star players. I don't know what the back story is, but I hope it's for the best for the both of them. Nice pickup on Hyun though. While he isn't the best BW player, he still played a good amount in PL, and that's saying a lot of his skill.
I just hope this move will not stop SangHo's recent improvement. I remember watching him in previous seasons barely winning his games with questionable control etc..., but lately his game is just scary. Especially under-pressure he is becoming a beast.
On November 28 2011 15:36 RaiKageRyu wrote: Could Slayers gather any MORE Terrans? Some racial diversity is sorely needed now Coca is grounded until further notice.
Coach Lee is the former MBC coach. A lot of players from MBC, Fox, and OZ weren't picked up in the draft and are teamless, such as Hyun. I could very well see a lot of the BW pros, especially the MBC crop, going to Lee and joining TSL.
Losing Killer, Clide, and JYP sucks, but I do believe Polt and Alive are their strongest players. There has to be more than just Hyun coming on. I forsee more ex-BW pros joining TSL very soon. By the end of this, TSL could be super, super strong, or Polt and Alive could be asking to get out of town.

Tester - Good move by TSL. He was lazy and is now not even on the radar of Code B. FruitDealer - Good move by TSL. He was also lazy and is now in Code B. Rain - Alive, Polt, and Clide were all much better. No real use on the team.
Losing Killer, JYP and Clide is pretty huge, though. They will need to fill their shoes with a few more players. Right now, they have:
Polt: Top 10 Terran Alive: Top 10 Terran Hyun: Former A-team BW player. Could be very, very good in SC2. Revival: ...Decent? Maybe? On a good day? Heart: A work in process Shine: A work in process Symbol: A work in process Ultimate: A work in process.
Right now they have two very good players (Polt/Alive), a BW pro who could turn out to be amazing, an average on the edge Code A/B player in Revival and then a bunch of practice partners/works in process.
Coach Lee must have more players coming. Also just based on ladder, Alive/Polt are the most hard working. Both are top seven in Korea GM (Polt #2 and Alive #7).
Another terran to Slayers? They should really get a few more top level protoss's and zergs o.O Also sad to see Killer leave TSL, he looked really happy on that team from what I saw on Artosis's vids.
Lee should call up Perfectman. He wasn't signed by any BW teams. Give Perfectman six months, and he will be the best protoss in SC2. No doubt. I want PMan in SC2.
I can understand letting go of Clide and Killer, sort of, but JYP? Hmmm. He's up-and-coming still and is a very strong Protoss. I guess he wanted out, though.
great slayers has a 2nd forgotten son now lol slayers_clide is gonna be riding the forgotten train with ryung now. Also why is it that slayers doesn't expand? they have enough people for an A, B, and C team O.o
The explanation seems more confusing than helpful. Sangho, Clide, and JYP left because the team could not otherwise win? What? Seems counterintuitive...Especially with all the tales of how fiercely loyal Sangho/Clide were, especially.
This is a lot worse for TSL than the departure of Puma/Trickster/Fruitdealer. TSL is left with 3 players with GSL experience now (aLive, Polt, Revival). Slayers has like 19 that I counted.
TBH im not surprised - was expecting that since Carmac wrote on his Twitter that some Koreans will change teams. Knowing his relationship with some of TSL players. I realy hope Killer will find a nice team tho.
Hmm... well they did pick up Polt not too long ago, and the new zerg, so it isn't the biggest overall loss... but it is an obvious hit to their roster. I never know how to feel about TSL... it seems like such a strange team.
I don't think that's bad new. Coach Lee has a plan and he has taken the best decision for the future. It's sad to see Sangho, Clide, and JYP go - but sometimes changes have to be made.
Hyun joining is bigger than everyone else leaving..though I'm surprised Killer's leaving, he was a captain and in videos from team house seemed really like a head of the team
It seems that the small Teams try to gain success by restructuring their team with a different (stricter?) practice schedule. First Prime loses all senior Players (Polt, Check, HongUn) and now TSL....don't know if that's the right way. We'll see.
I am so confused, I don't know what to think of TSL at the moment, I really do hope they do well but I don't understand why so many people are leaving like that. Also Hyun joining is huge!
Greg practicing with Clideeeee. Thats the biggest news I took from this lol.
But in all seriousness, TSL to me appears to be a team that sorely lacks management and direction. Despite their consistent statement of everything being fine, the volatility of their team thus far hasn't reflected that.
wouldn't say it's a crisis. the coach restructured the team so that it will produce better results, but took into consideration that all the current stars on the team will leave because of that. a daring move, but I like it.
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit crazy news....not sure what to make of this, I guess the coach thought that Clide, Killer and JYP were solid players but not going to be able to win big.....sad news indeed but glad Clide landed in Slayers and im sure he will improve a lot
hope JYP and Killer go to good teams...always thought JYP had heaps of potential his PvZ is sick good
whats with the comments about Clide and Idra......do they have history?
Woaaaah what? I did not see Clide and SangHo leave TSL at all, that is pretty sad. Kinda dissapointed SlayerS getting another Terran again tho...
But HyuN getting into a team is siiiiiiick news.
EDIT: Also, with all the talk about 5(?) korean players joining foreigner team(s) I guess Killer and JYP may be 2 of them since they didn't announce any new team when they left TSL right away.
Why does it feel like Coach Lee is anticipating he'll be able to recruit more BW-players very soon? People are sitting here saying this is bad news, but noone does changes like these unless they are VERY confident they'll get the better end of the deal.
1st thought: Bummed out to see such great players leave Hopefully the team will swing back bigger and better.. 2nd thought : Clide on SlayerS!? AAAAAAAAAAW YEEEEEEA!
and i just realized one thing. they have to retake the gskill commercial again. because clide and killer no longer in TSL, just like how fruitdealer and (someone else i forgot) were complaining.
As Slayers is getting Clide, and the EG guys stay there, and Slayers have a massive lineup, is there anymore place for people to sleep and play? Maybe Slayers and EG could finance another apartment so they have alittle more space

As far as I know its only going to be Idra, Huk, Puma and Demuslim staying in the SlayerS house. Also having their own apartment would mean they didn't get a lot of the benefits of a Korean pro house.
Does Artosis have any links to foreign teams at the moment? Aren't he and Tasteless friends with Killer and that could give us an idea of what foreign team he's going to, if he's going to one at all.
Remember, it's not like Clide and SangHo ditched TSL, it says that Coach Lee had to part ways with them. This guy knows What he's doing, and although TSL may seeM to be in dire straights, he'll have them up and running in no time.
edit: I decided to TLPD-ize my entire post for no particular reason. Have fun.
I think its overall good decision for TSL team, i remember how promising was seeing Fruitdealer win that first GSL , and Tester breaking nerds jaws left and right, but sadly for them something didn't work, i remember thinking that i should stick to cheering for one team only, but its sad case for the moment , everything seems so unstable and teams are no really teams Waiting for more teams with proper identity and philosophy ! GL TSL!

LOL good point!
Ouch, things looking bleak for TSL. Cliiiiiiide won't have as much playtime in the GSTL since Slayers has like a 2/3 terran players better than Cliiiiiiide. Killer leaving was a big shocker, as Killer was the captain with the big room and such. Another big slump for TSL ): WHYY!

The only players left on TSL that I follow are aLive and Polt now.... :x
but polt also relative new, they have a great team captain and so i think they will add some others, but they NEED PROTOSS PLAYERS xD
next GSTL = 8 Teams: SlayerS A, SlayerS B, SlayerS C, SlayerS D, SlayerS E, ... F, G and K.United (Koreans United, all the rest of teams here, or w/e is left of them) =(
Also the interview says TSL didnt produce any GSL titles since Fruitdealer, Fruitdealer was oGs when he won Open season 1, wasnt he?
Either way doesnt matter how many SlayerS players they have on next season, because Liquid is gonna take next Code S title with HerO.
maybe as he sad there is a hardcore training sistem and killer didnt agree with it . and for that reason he left the team . is the only thing that seems logic to me . anyway i hope players wont be to affected polt and alive hwitingg

Y'know, i think you're right. IM is really hard pressed for some Code S quality Protoss players. Yonghwa, Ready and Seed are good and all but they haven't posted any noticable results since we ever seen them in the first GSTL. I'd love to see either IMKiller or IMJYP :D

Maybe they should stop putting their star players in that Gskill commercial. That commercial is cursed or something. FD, Tester, Clide and Sangho are now gone.

I just find it hilarious that they have to keep reshooting the commercial over and over again. The sponsor must be mightily irritated lol.

Too hit #1 at the Korean ladder is obviously not easy, but ladder and tournaments are too entirely different things. If MVP would play ladder all the game, I can guarantee you that he would've been at the top in every single season, but most of the pros plays more customs than they play ladder.

Isn't/Wasn't SlayerS known as the most hard working team? If they'd want to practice less Clide would have rather joined Startale I think.
When does the next season of GTSL start? I can't wait to see the renewed TSL team. Bold move by coach lee, I like that. Wonder how Artosis and Tasteless feel though, the moment they start a coorperation with TSL, clide and killer leave the team.

Q-IM_MarineKing? =0 maybe. Why? Because MarineKing and Losira gets along SOOOOO well..... you should see them in person. and Losira is from IM so...
hm i dont agree with so many good players going to slayers since the clan league will be pretty boring if there will be a fight between IM and Slayers and the rest having no chance
also its not good for the newer players in slayers since they will have good training but they wont get any exposure at all except if they do well in gsl

what about MVP? They have a pretty good team. Furthermore, some teams will do pretty well in team leagues if they focus on it as compared to individual leagues. Thats why TSL/NSHoseo were able to own up the team league last year.
I don't know if I would say I'm worried for TSL because Coach Lee is so good at getting a team back on its feet, however they are in dire need of at least two solid protoss on this team. Revival, Polt, and Alive are all uneblievable, and Hyun could be a beat if MVP is one of the best current players in the world. Gotta find some Toss though, asap.
Times are a-changing. I bet this is only the first of a few BW -> SC2 switchovers. It would be mad to predict any S-class players to switch in the near future, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some A-class pros moving on over.
Go SC2 in Korea! It's just a shame that for SC2 to be successful it looks like BW will be dying a slow death :'(
I didn't watch much BW (only the Jangbi vs fantasy finals, really), but I understand what it means to a lot of people.

He is just switching over cause no one wanted him in Broodwar. so yeha i highly doubt it has anything 2 do with BW dying or whatsoever.
I'm willing to bet some other MBCgame b-teamers will join TSL soon along with Hyun. Not all at once probably since you can't have half the team learning the game.

Unlikely. At the most 1. Few B-teamers from last season's MBC team have any personal relationship with Coach Lee.
As sad as it is to see this type of thing happen, I think it is needed to make the community move forward. The only player I see doing anything is Polt, and that was a few months ago. Sad to see especially with THN sponsoring them now.

Ladder may be different than Tournaments. With that said, hitting rank 1 GM on Korean ladder pretty much ensures you can take games off anyone at any given time.
Very very suprised, I think this will hurt TSL even more. I don't know if it was Coach Lee's decision but losing Clide/Sangho/JYP, basically the players that has always been there for the team and one of the best in their team, or best in their team before Polt joined.
WOW, the most legendary and greatest terran of all time... will be playing in the same team as Boxer!!
CLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!!!
also, I'm wondering what's up with coach lee and all these defections from his team... he seems like a good coach, wonder if it's money related or something.
I mean, yes, losing three of your top five players sucks, but they arguably kept on their two strongest players, Polt and Alive, and added a Brood War A-teamer (Yes, he wasn't amazing, but neither has anyone else who switched) who could be a big name zerg in a month or two.
Maybe they'll add HongUn and try to get in touch with other BW pros who don't have a team at the moment. I love Clide, but I would firmly rank Polt/Alive above him in skill. Killer and JYP are interesting, though; Killer has seemingly improved in the past couple of months and could be one of the best protoss in the GSL. JYP is also one of the best young toss in Korea, so I am sure he will land on a new team in a flash.

What will Artosis' apprentice do now??
He already left and is on Checksix and no longer princess using another ID, probably got from a random name generator.
He was never even on TSL in the first place, he was just in the house because of Artosis' relationship to the team.
According to his statements, he will return to Korea soon enough (like beginning next year). He only left Korea because of personal issues and wants to go back asap when they are settled. I think he said that, if he cannot stay with TSL, then he'll stick to the gom house, but I think he's definitely aiming to practise with a professional team (even if the living conditions might not be as good as in the gom house).
I don't understand. How increased hours/tougher training is going to help them do well if they can't prepare for Protoss except via ladder? And then you add a new player of a race you need the least? Even if they're a low-tier ex-BW pro, it still sounds like a really bad coaching decision.
Its made worse by the fact that the only two good players they have left are Terran. With the current makeup of GSL, Alive and Polt are going to be training for so many TvTs that the rest of TSL is not going to do well in their XvT matchups either.
If the other teams' coaches are smart they'll block their Protoss from training with TSL to practically guarentee their Ps free wins vs TSL in the solo league. And in the GSTL they're going to get rocked because everyone will hurl Protoss at them.
I like Coach Lee, but man, he's making a huge mistake. I hope he proves me wrong.
I feel really bad for Tasteless and Artosis too. It's obvious that they loved TSL mostly because of Killer and Clide. And now immediately after sponsoring TSL both of those players are gone. But they're way too nice to pull their sponsorship.
I'm really happy for Clide though. Slayers does magical things to its Terrans. Watch out MMA, Clide's coming for your crown!

I wonder how Korean teams make decisions about roster additions... I mean, it must not be productive in a team house to have 10 Terrans and like 2 protoss and 2 zerg, or am I totally wrong?

I'd say it's not optimal but I guess they go more by personality, mindset and skill over what race they play. They probably have decent training partners of other races that aren't members of the team as well.

Having practice partners in the team house is great, but its been well documented and players don't just train with their teammates.
I actually think the major advantage of living with the players is the discussion and theory aspect so its not terribly important to have racial balance.
i think this is a good thing for TSL. it sounds like they are really trying to get top level players, and want to do really well, i hope it gives them some good players Yay for more BW players too
Man I always loved TSL because of Killer, Clide, and Coach Lee. If Clide had to leave TSL I am glad he is going to SlayerS. Still rooting for TSL's comeback because there is something special about Coach Lee's demeanor to me.
I'm starting to dislike Slayers having so many players. They have 27 people according to their page.
I understand for the players it makes sense since they are active in taking part in events overseas (but mostly with their better players) but still, it's sad that teams in Korea seem to be doing so poorly in terms of money that everyone is jumping on the Slayers ship.
TSL is unlucky. They lose all their players it seems.
Fruitdealer. Tester. Puma. Now this.
I know there was another good player that left but I can't recall who right now. All in all, they are lucky Polt joined it seems. If Hyun does well for them, it might attract other good players eventually...

Of course, that is only one perspective on the matter (Coach Lee's)
My train of thought still aligns with ballas. There is a common denominator here, and it's not the players. Any word from the players involved would be greatly welcomed.
from what it sounds like, training is too hardcore. i bet once bw pros switch over, a lot of them will be happy to join tsl because of their strict training regiment, and thus tsl will become a powerhouse.

If suddendly all my best players wanted to leave my team, I would also say that it was all according to my plan. It's not like he would say he is the problem or something like that. It's hard to say what's wrong and what right. On the other hand, this isn't our business.

Can someone translate this?
It means something along the lines of: "I decided to leave the TSL team, which I've been part of since 1 year ago. There really weren't any problems which made me leave, so we've decided to leave on good terms (something about cheering for each other... guess it means that).I'll be back as a better programer (This is confusing since I don't know if he means that he's going to join TSL again or if he's simply stating that he's going to improve a.k.a. standard korean manner talk but I guess it means the latter). I seriously thank all people who are cheering for me." - Killer's tweet.
Still breaking my head trying to understand this decision. The OP quotes an interview where Coach Lee seems to be constantly trying to go around the answer.
