Some people don't, and I have no problem with that. The wide range of comedy shows and styles out there is testament to that. But I disagree. What he wants, I think, is to be wildly popular (streaming=money). I think it's clear that he could give a rat's ass whether you're laughing with or at him. Either way, he runs a commercial while 14k people watch.
