Source: Twitter accounts of YellOw and Violet
It seems KT Rolster's Violet has been up to some shenanigans while receiving treatment for his leukaemia. A short discourse between YellOw and Violet is shown below, dated August 18:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/c6pmn.png)
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/TddRJ.png)
Violet: Hyung you need to have a round of SC2 with me, I have a higher ladder ranking than you lol YellOw: [Yellow's nickname for Violet here].. don't lie.. I've gone up a lot now.. kk What rank are you? Violet: I was masters in Season 2 kk I haven't started Season 3 yet since I'm in hospital TT Hyung you need to get tested by me before you hit the Code A preliminaries kk YellOw: Were you masters... – – You should be playing SC1, if you play SC2 that well as well.. what the kk
Some conclusions: a) Violet is still in hospital (get better soon!) b) He's been playing some SC2, and pretty good at that -_- c) YellOw might not be masters at this point (he refers to masters with the 님 suffix, suggesting respect for Violet's ladder rank) d) The theory of BW pros owning up current SC2 players if/when they switch is not completely without logic
To be fair, I expect Violet to stick with KT and BW, but him switching to SC2 would be an interesting thought :-P Umm enjoy, and discuss? :-S (Kudos will be awarded for finding Violet's account on the Korean ladder :-D)
|
I just hope Violet gets better so he can pwn in either game
|
|
Likewise, I just hope he gets better, but if he does play SC2 (at any point), he can challenge fake violet to a grudge match.
|
The monsters are comming.
|
The only reason he's doing it is because this is his downtime while being treated for it. It should come as no surprise. I would definitely be trying all sorts of things while I still can.
|
thanks for violets twitter ^^.
|
Violet :D Good to see he's doing well!
|
I hope he gets better. He was a boss in BW, and it would be nice to see him continue to own it up in BW or SC2.
|
I wonder how it feels to be beat by someone on chemotherapy
|
If Violet can own it up the KR ladder while playing casually during his treatment, then it really says that the current SC2 top-tier level still isn't that high. :o
|
Pretty cool, but I hope he doesn't switch over, he still needs to get one more SPL title with KTRolster!
|
Whatever Violet does, I hope he gets well soon.
|
Okay, and whats the news?
|
I thought Kepsa had forbade contracted SCBW pros from playing SC2.

I don't think that's even possible. They forbade them to play it professionally, probably yes. But in their free time they can do whatever they want.

So Violet, who is in hospital getting treatment for cancer, can achieve a higher ladder ranking than every foreigner playing on kr server. Wow he's really good.

Yeah a bw professional for years owns up MASTERS league in sc2 when we dont even know how much he has been playing. Your conclusions are not reasonable.
|
I am sure that even pros can play other games in their spare time.
So this pretty much doesn´t mean anything.Really, everytime a BW pro mentions he plays SC2 people go wild on speculation.
|
I just hope he gets well, so sad to see young people with such bad diseases.
|
Hmm what race does he play?
|
It would be sick to see Violet come back. War Violet!

As long as he gets better, I don't care what game he plays!

Violet...Flash misses you You 2 needs to stay in the hospital and rest haha Let JaeDong and Bisu fight

I am (or rather was before I took a break) masters too. That means Im owning up the EU ladder!? Cool, go me!
Hope Violet gets well soon!

Since when is Masters level the top-tier level? lol Mid-High Korean Masters is similar/higher in skill than EU/US grandmaster. Not bad for "playing a game on the side".

Kr masters league guys. Remember what Artosis said. NA low masters players cannot get out of platinum on KR. That's why it is a difficult achievement, especially when gsl pros such as nestea and losira are also masters.

Yeah if you want proof, Stork[GM] played WoW for a bit 4 years ago and that was fine. I mean he was never in trouble for playing it as far as we know, right? And something (like being in deep shit) would've been all over Fomos or DES.

If you are trying to be clever, Nestea does have less than 50 percent win ratio, and very little games played.
|
This is sweet! I want to know what YellOw's nickname for Violet is though!
|
There's not a chance in hell for Violet playing SC2 at a pro level, specially after KT winning the last Proleague.
|
There is only one explanation.
This is part of a joint BW/SC2 plan to create the ultimate hybrid player. Incredible Miracle did a charity blood drive for Violet when SC2Con was formed. KT held another blood drive for Violet, with BoxeR even showing up for a donation.
Perhaps Violet is surging with the blood of the best of both SC2 and BW. Flash, Stats, BoxeR, MVP, and Nestea all reside inside Violet, creating a monster that we should all fear.
Jokes aside, I hope Violet gets well soon. KT needs all the help they can get in the next season.
|
Violet is/was a pretty fucking good BW player, doesn't surprise me in the least if he spent time just playing the ladder that he'd be high up there. I wonder how he feels about 1/1/1
|
Imagine how confusing it would be if team MVP picked him up... MVPViolet and MVPviOlet on the same team :D
|
All things considered that he is a mid-high A-teamer on one of the top teams, he has no reason to switch over yet since he'd make more money off salary than he'd win off of SC2 at this point in time. It's the same reason no A-teamers are switching over.

I think he can be considered one of the better or more talented BW players to play SC2. Of course I hope he gets better and goes back to being good at BW.

I honestly don't see any current BW pro switching over for at least 2-3 more years.

Just recover first- it doesn't matter which/any game you play. But a Yellow / Violet showmatch would be pretty fun to watch.

Well you can't really make a prediction like that because you have no idea how BW or SC2 will evolve in the coming years. If SC2 attracts significant sponsorship it could make it worth while for several BW to switch over e.g.

Depending on how some of the B-teamer contracts go, I'd be surprised if 1-2 didn't show up on SC2 teams suddenly. Probably the older B-teamers, I'd imagine.

There will definitely be a lag time between the time of switch and the first results in more obscure tournaments or in GSL Code A prelims. Heck, Silent Control from that WCG 2005 documentary has been on Startale for a while (according to Liquipedia), yet I've yet to see him in any games.
Puma switched to SC2 relatively later than other players, as evident by some OSL prelim game in late October on his BW TLPD. It was a long while before we started hearing word from players that he was a force to be reckoned with, and it was a while after that before he was thrust into the spotlight with his NASL victory.
GuemChi played SC2 for a bit under the radar during his temporary soul-searching "retirement." Aside form a single interview with Artosis, there wasn't much info about him until he suddenly switched back to BW and returned to Woongjin.
I'll be highly interested in the SC2 roster changes this month, but we won't see any significant competitors until several months after their switch.

The SC:BW to SC2 dominance isn't assured. While there's a lot of carry over, they aren't identical. Which is why I said it's a matter of the contracts. If say a 22-24 year old B-teamer doesn't get much of any contract, I could see them switching, as they have a chance to make at least some money. Especially if they want to spend some time traveling outside of Korea. But it'll depend a lot on those contracts. We don't really have access to the behind the scenes pay information to the B-teamers.

I hope he becomes serious, I think he would be the best progamer thus far in terms of skill of any who would have switched over. He was a solid A-teamer, the closest to him was either Sangho or MVP, right? And I'd say he was better than both of them.

I know there's latency issues for them, but I've def taken games off Koreans playing on NA ladder (ie. LiquidHero playing on oGs account), as well as someone in my clan who couldn't even make GM (rank 1 masters though) either season went 1-1 vs Puzzle. I don't think a plat player could take a single game off me even if he allined, and I went CC first TvP.
