Are people seriously complaining about streaming?

jesus christ, it seems like no matter what the fuck these people do.... Incontrol had stated in his AMA on reddit i believe, that there would be 3-4 hours on ladder, then an hour lunch break, then 4 more hours custom game practice with each other.

To the haters, calm your tits.

korean team houses work because they kick out the garbage players who underperform and get new ones every month or so.

genetics DO play a role in how good you are in starcraft. and the fact that the koreans boot out the garbage from their team houses ensures that they practice with only the most talented players.

america needs to put forth a similar model if they want to improve. stop babying those players and give them an ultimatum. they either improve in the next 4 months or they get booted for someone that has more skill and drive.

Lol, this. Seems like nothing has changed, now they are just streaming NA ladder from a nicer house...

Uh what would they be doing? If anything it's a sign of productivity that they stream more.

Streaming means that they aren't actively trying to refine/prepare certain builds and strategies for tournaments. By laddering, they decide to play against lesser opponents whom will not be able to sit around and discuss how the game went and what each of them can do to improve. The advantage to a team house is having that close contact with team mates and feeding off of eachother's drive to continue practicing and play more games and talking about what can be done to improve after such games.

You also learn a lot better from dedicated practice sessions because you are able to do the same build on the same map many times over and start to really pick up on finer details and optimize in ways you simply can't do from laddering.

When Idra streams, he mostly encounters people who are much worse than him, allowing him to build sloppy habits and not learn nearly as much as if he was playing against members of EG. Inhouse games allow him to receive constructive input, focus on optimization and be encouraged to continue practicing.

Because by streaming, they totally don't do any of that stuff at different times.

I never said that they don't do those other things at other times. However, Incontrol has done his best to convince everyone that EG is dedicated to doing everything they can to get their skill level as high as possible in preparation for the next MLG. On SOTG, he talked about how Koreans are hands down the better players right now, but that he and the rest of EG plan on closing that gap as best they can. And I was extremely happy to hear that. I want EG to do well because I want NA to do well. EG carries the NA torch, and it was relieving to hear they planned to up their game.

However, streaming during the day when they are the most awake/aware/energized is really, really not how they need to accomplish their goals. I am sad for them as a fan, not as a hater. While they are getting stream-sniped/stream-hacked by Deezer or some other random NA players, Koreans are practicing in-house and doing everything they can to improve. On one hand, they talk about trying to catch up to Koreans. On the other, they are doing the exact opposite. I feel disappointed/concerned as a fan because I would love to see NA players winning their groups at MLG or making it out of the open bracket. They have a house, they have the resources, and I think they can do it. But then they spend time streaming I mean, at least just stream at night, for like an hour or 2. Not in the middle of the day when you're awake and at your best. Especially not for as long as they have been today :[ I want them to catch up to Koreans!

Do they have a coach? Coaches are a very underrated part of what makes the Korean training model work.

Damn, a lot of haters in here. Chill the eff out.

Maybe they are testing their ability to stream multiple people at once.

Screw the haters, I think it's an important step EG take and an important sacrifice that you guys make in order for the foreigners to stand a real chance against the prohouses of Korea. The foreigners with biggest success so far in SC2 are in my opinion Jinro and HuK and both of them live in the environment that EG is now setting up for you! Keep the good work up and I'm personally delighted to see you back in SotG, Geoff! You're a character for sure, and I love that about you!

That seems good, didnt mean to hate it was mostly because alot of streamers say themselves that streaming isnt good practise at all and they dont take the games seriously at all when they stream. Then you guys go and say "We're going korean style and will practise hardcore so we can show great results!". A few days later you start streaming so that just seemed weird to me.

HuK streams a ton and it seems to work out well for him.

Massing games on ladder is still an important part of training, got to get that exposure to a wide variety of playstyles. A lot of top Koreans are ladder monsters. If you are going to be laddering anyway then you might as well make some money while you do it.

This is my perspective as well. I just don't see where the hopes of beating Koreans can possibly come from without being willing to practice at least as hard as they do.

Lets say that a month ago, the "functions of skill" were like this:

KoreanSkill(t)=200+10x
ForeignerSkill(t)=200+6x

And from that, and as we've seen, the Koreans came out really far ahead. Now the whole training house thing happens, and it changes to this:
Where 250 and 200 are their "skill at the time", I give some arbitrarily larger number than 200 to Koreans to signify that they start this next month ahead of EG:

KoreanSkill(t)=250+10x
EGSkill(t)=200+8x

In other words: Start the training worse, then practice less than the Koreans, meaning your progress/day is also less. I just don't see how that can really work x_x I keep hoping/cheering for EG, but I'm sure its not hard to see where I'm coming from here. Where does the catching up take place?

Well alot of pros have talked about that aswell, KR ladder vs NA ladder. Facing MVP, DRG, MMA, NesTea, LosirA and many other GSL pros vs Deezer, Combat-ex and just other random people that stream cheats and hacks. KR ladder is stacked and alot of the pros play there. NA/EU ladder is not stacked and alot of pros dont play on it. Tyler said in a interview that more pros should start laddering so that when you queu for ladder as a top player you might actually get practise.

That is actually a good point. I wonder if laddering on Korea would be more worthwhile for them even with latency taken into consideration.

Good to hear. I think the complaint is not that you guys are streaming, in fact that is great. It is mostly that NA ladder is not productive (you have said this yourself). Frustrating to see you guys getting stream sniped by Deezer for hours on end, I'm sure it is even more frustrating for you too. Would you consider streaming on KR ladder even with the latency? Or streaming non-internal practice games with other top players (like how puzzle/huk were streaming their games against each other)?

The really sad thing is that 99% of the community REALLY loves what you guys do, that you stream for 4 hours is really awsome, but the other 1%, essentially the haters, makes the most noise.
I really think that the people who loves what you guys do should take a moment and just tell them,

I love E-sports, and I love EG. I love the fact that all of you crazy EG people is in a training house now!
You´re really doing such a great job iNcontoL, keep it up!

Eh, he doesn't really stream that much, especially as of late.

Also, pure laddering on KR server is worth the time you spend playing. Can you say the same about NA server? I don't think so. Playing on NA can only make you worse (if you're a progamer).
