We have our ups and downs, but after thirteen weeks, Season 1 is finally in the books, and what a finals to close it with! NASL wants to thank all our fans and critics for sticking with us through the thick and thin, and in return, the staffs and volunteers of NASL decided to put together something special for our fans and players during the off season:
This Sunday, NASL will treat its in-house pros - Sen, White-Ra, and Gretorp - on a grand tour of Southern California. We will wine and dine them, as well as visit popular tourist traps such as the Santa Monica Pier, Muscle Beach, and Hollywood Blvd!
...and there's something for the fans too...
Photograph: JediWarrior
The Itinerary of this event is public, which means, if you feel like stalking on this fine Sunday, feel free to wander around the locales at the prescribed time, and perhaps you too will see White-Ra in his swim trunks? No promises, scheduling is subject to failure and the Pros may sneak off as warranted, but who knows?
For those feeling a bit more civil, photos and videos of the pros in their unnatural habitat will be documented and released on air in a very special Sunday July 24th night NASL broadcast. At standard NASL broadcast time (9pm Eastern, 6pm Pacific), a special "dollars and cents" best-of-7 series will air between White-Ra and Sen for what's remaining of the weekend budget, at the new NASL channel: www.justin.tv/naslseasontwo . Videos and photographs of White-Ra, Sen, and Gretorp's Saturday California cruise will be interlaced throughout this showmatch series. Additionally, we will also have the first ever public walk-through of the NASL house.
We hope that this will be an enjoyable experience for the pros, the fans, and the staff alike, and thank you for your continuing support of the NASL.
Planned Itinerary: (all Pacific Standard Time)
Sunday, July 17th, 2011 12:00 NASL House 14:30 Head to the ocean 16:00 Santa Monica Muscle Beach 17:30 Santa Monica Pier and Arcade 18:30 Secret dinner location 20:00 Hollywood 21:00 Madame Tussauds Hollywood 23:00 Return to NASL House
Sunday, July 24th, 2011 18:00 "Dollars-and-Cents" special bo7 showmatch
Have Sen and White-ra been in California this whole time since the NASL finals? I would have thought they'd have gone home by now but I guess thos is as good a time as ever to get some sightseeing done.
If you want to give back something serious give purchasers of season one tickets like myself a discount on season two tickets. Otherwise I'm definitely not being fooled twice.

Maybe they're sticking it out to attend MLG Anaheim. Depending on how much airfare is, and if they have cheap/free lodging at the NASL house, which is what it sounds like, it's probably more cost-effective to stay in California than fly back and forth to Taiwan/Ukraine.
Edit: To all the people asking what exactly they're giving back, I agree the topic was a poor choice of words for describing what's planned (tomorrow), though the extra content and tournament could be considered giving something extra. I think if they didn't call it "giving back" more people would have a more positive impression, even if they can't attend and there's no "guaranteed" meet-n-greet with the pros.
P.S. NASL, you're going to show the pros around during Carmageddon weekend? :-)

Can Sen and White-Ra off-race or flip-race for the Bo7? Would love Sen to play with imba Sentries while White-Ra uses his Special Tactics with the Zerg.
At least they get to experience real Los Angeles traffic during CARMAGEDDON!!! You literally could not have picked a worse day out of all 365 this year. Hats off to more great NASL planning, but I will tune in to see the humor during the show match.

For real. I know living in the LA area for my whole life doesn't exactly qualify me to make these kind of recommendations, but putting it off 2 or 3 days would definitely make this trip waaaay less boring. And because of the delay caused by major freeway construction, the schedule is probably going to be useless.
But hey, it's a really cool idea. It's just a really cool idea at the worst possible time.
EDIT: I expected it to be really bad, but as others are saying, it's actually very tame.
On July 17 2011 10:14 Ezze wrote: What exactly is NASL giving back? I'm confused
Umm this awesome free content?
Since it is being shown on their "naslseasontwo" account it is likely you won't get anything better than 360p without paying. And the VODs will also be behind the paywall.
Furthermore they will be airing ads obviously.
It's hard to characterize this as "giving" anything at all. I won't be one of those giving them ad revenue.

Sen's not going to MLG. He has to attend WCG prelim in order to present the country he's from, Taiwan.
This is put together by the volunteers and staffs of NASL on their own free time, so don't expect something extraordinary production wise next Sunday. Since I will be tag along, I will promise that everyone involved - fans, stalkers, players, and caster - will all have a great time and NASL will put together on a fun little show. Just remember this is a thank you from NASL, nothing more, nothing less.
It truly is a honor to hang out with White-Ra, Sen, and Gretorp today and I look forward to tomorrow. Thank you for the opportunity and footing the bills, Russ!
PS: Regarding traffic: We're heading out for the NASL house, 10W the entire route, so hopefully we will avoid the worst of the I405. Scheduling was difficult because Sen and White-Ra both are very busy (with White-Ra heading out to the east coast Monday), so Sunday was the best time slot available.
In truth traffic hasn't been so bad here in L.A. Everyone's taking Carmageddon pretty seriously so hopefully the trip out to the westside won't be too bad.
I assume you'll be leaving as soon as Sen finishes TLA? If that goes 11-1 or 1:30, you guys can still make it to S.M. in an hour I bet.
hmm so random bonus footage and a bonus showmatch between sen and white ra? Solo casting from the Gretorp? TT Lets hope the best is yet to come from NASL. Hopefully iNcontroL's replacement is announced sooner rather than later along groups and the start date of Season Two!
This is pretty stupid I feel like, especially when TL Attack is on to watch... I mean, I understand releasing behind the scenes footage, but all this hype and build up. Are we actually going to be able to hear you guys talking? Will the camera be quasi-steady?
I just have no faith in the streaming capabilities of the NASL brand, which in turns makes me very weary about the quality of any future streaming they do.
I know everyone loves White-Ra, but instead of watching him on the historically sub-par NASL stream, why not watch his personal (not laggy) stream? It directly supports Mr. Ra, instead of NASL. NASL has a way of not putting money into their streams and production value (which is what increases viewer retention rates, and satisfaction) so why continue to stuff their bloated pockets? Even if it is just ad revenue, its money I feel they haven't earned.

I pitched the idea to NASL. The philosophy behind it was a little fun during the off season with its house guests, as well some bonus material (and possible face time) with the pros.
You don't like these "fluffy" stuff. Great. Don't watch it. Certainly the work made to put it together is not for you. White-Ra loves the idea, Sen loves the idea, Gretorp loves the idea, and the expenses are out of pocket from Russ directly. No official NASL man-hours are used beyond those staff that will work on this on their free time.
I fail to see how any of your concerns have anything to to do with this?

NASL off-season =/= Starcraft 2 off-season. Aren't you kind of wasting their time? I personally love extra and fluffy stuff like this, having watched many many hours of ArtosisTV in the past. I guess I'm more worried about the usual NASL issues taking this weekend from something fluffy to something horrific. Is the stream actually going to work? What is the situation with the camera and audio equipment?

It's not a waste of their time. Sen and White-Ra love the idea, and now Gretorp is my best friend forever. Stop it. It is an all-expense paid trip across SoCal, how can anyone not love it?

Chill bro. If Sen and White-Ra didn't want an all expense paid trip across so-cal to support NASL through ad revenue they could just decline and stream like they usually do and if you're so scared of NASL's streaming quality then go do something else. Its almost like you've got a hardon for hating on NASL.

I live in Santa Monica, right next to the freeway closure, and I can tell you that the traffic in the LA area is about as sedate as it has ever been. Everyone's staying home this weekend. It's awesome. I've never had a drive home from work like I did last night, and the Santa Monica parking structures, which are usually full to the brim on weekends, were at most half full today.
If I'm feeling social, I may try to say hello to these guys tomorrow afternoon. Glad you're getting a chance to see the city!

Yeah, in contrary to the NASL crew, you've really gone the extra mile by sitting behind your computer. Especially the complaining about having to sit behind your computer watching the free content provided by volunteers is helpful, you know, because of your wealth of knowledge concerning the runnings of100.000$ international SC2 events.
It isn't even an official NASL event, they clearly state not to expect wonders since it's a voluntary production.

This thread is pretty ridiculous. People coming in here yelling that this is going to be terrible and telling them to stop "hyping" it up.... if there wasn't a thread nobody would know about it, nobody would watch it, and none of the fans would have been able to meet some of their favorite players. Just because it has NASL in the thread, doesn't mean that you should go out and trash everything they do. Cleary we should boycott this because they may show ads... maybe we should boycott everybody's streams because they show ads, and shame on anybody for trying to make a few dollars while doing something for the community.

currently #27 grandmaster NA
and when was the last time he placed semi decent at any event? No offense to gretrop but being highly ranked on na gm doesnt put you on teh same level as sen or white ra..
