The response was mixed on 2+2 at first, but NVG is eating it up right now. A lot of pro players weren't exactly thrilled with the decision. I think it's overall good for poker.

I wonder why it's called alternate table if they keep showing it ! :S

That was the day that the FBI killed online poker in the US. Questionably legal seizure of assest in connection with accusations of fraud and, essentially, money laundering. EDIT: beaten by a link

The big poker sites (Stars/FTP) got shut down by the Department of Justice and many American players got shafted and haven't been able to access their money.

department of justice seized certain bank accounts of poker sites, in short, online poker is no longer allowed in the US

Yeah must be nice for them to have something to rally behind. I cant imagine being your average 2+2'er after Black Friday.

Read up on the UIGEA, it's pretty much the reason most of this happened in the first place, it's a ridiculous law that was set forth in 2006 that restricted credit card payments to online poker sites or something like that. Stars is one of the most genuine and amazing poker companies out there and they got shafted because of all the crap and confusion they got catering to US players.
FTP/UB were sleazy and shady from the start, no1 knows what happened there.

black friday = US department of justice froze assets of poker stars, full tilt, and ultimate bet of all US players.
Pokerstars negotiated to get back player funds within a few weeks. Not sure about UB.
Full tilt still hasn't gotten their US assets unfroze to return to players, and it was found out that they're assets aren't enough to cover all funds. Thus, they are in deep trouble, and their gambling license was suspended.
European investors probably gonna buy them out....
But yeah a lot of pros have money on FTP and Ivey who is (or rather was) a FTP pro sued them in protest and is sitting out all of the WSOP events "for" the US players because they still haven't received their money.
That's the general gist

USA is in a sticky situation right now, no one knows whats going to happen. All the US grinders are pretty much praying to god that legislation of online gambling gets passed so that new sites can open up and they can play.

Money laundering is cleaning illegally obtained money. Such as taking a stolen $20 bill and buying a $1 snack and getting $19 clean dollars. But on a much larger scale.
(reminds me of Office Space lol)
