Whereas the other SC2 songs the community has been blessed (or cursed..? ) with are catchy and fun, this touches, I think, a much more serious side of the life of a semi-casual or hardcore player's life. This song strikes at a place closer to the heart and dreams of the players. What I like is that what we relate to in this song is not that we also share knowledge of a small, rather stupid-looking creature that waggles along and spreads its acid stomach contents in a fatalistic manner, or that we hold knowledge of the hiphop/rap stereotype music videos and the merge of that and SC2 jargon/terminology/metagame. No, here we relate to what is our hope - outspoken or secretly coveted in the hidden corners of our "I just play for fun" public stance - that one day, one day when the match history says win win win win win win win win win win win win a thousand times, we, too, will be standing on a stage, spotlights illuminating our triumphant victories, being cheered at by the crowd, giving our insightful analysis of how the game should be played to the post finals interviewer.Yes, those are the strings that the fleeting, almost sad tunes of this beautiful piece of music plays on in our souls. The story of the singer and his endeavours to get better is the story of most of us. Our long term goal, whether we dare admit it even to ourselves or not, with every time we sat down to play, to watch day9, to check some item on the teamliquid site, to practice that goddamn larva inject, is embodied in the words of that song, with all its sadness and glory and beauty.
