ok I re read the rules, looks like I had it mixed up. I read it as +1 point for a 2-game streak and +2 point for a three game streak which still makes more sense to me but I see how it works now.

So... uh... I actually didn't pick my team just to max out this game. I just liked all the players I picked. Hell, I have Thorzain and Jinro on my team.
On the other hand... #1! Wicked.

+ Show Spoiler +Player Scoring: Lineup Appearance: +1 Point* Game Win: +2 Points per win Game Loss: -1 Point 2-Game Streak Break: +1 Point** 3-Game Streak Break: +2 Points** Your Player's Team Wins: +1 Point***
Tie-breaks are decided by the team captain's score.
*Point given just for appearing in a match, regardless of win or loss. Only counts once, i.e. if MC goes 4-0, he still only gets 1 appearance point. **Given when a pro-gamer defeats a pro-gamer on the opposing team who is on a two or three game winning streak. Streaks do not carry over between matches; all streaks must occur in the same match. ***This counts for all players on the team's roster, even if they did not play in the match.
Team Scoring: 4-0 Victory: 8 Points 4-1 Victory: 6 Points 4-2 Victory: 4 Points 4-3 Victory: 2 Points 3-4 Defeat: 1 Point 2-4 Defeat: 0 Points 1-4 Defeat: -1 Points 0-4 Defeat: -2 Points
Miscellaneous Trade Tax: -1
So 2-8 points to winning team.
And I think Guineapig's points came from making an appearance, winning a match, ending a winning streak and his team winning or along the lines of that.
Anyway you should really read up on the rules here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=235365

I had a friend with Genius on his Anti-team and he got -1 point since MVP won, I honestly didn't even think about negative points from teams winning. I'm regretting putting Choya on mine now as foU will probably beat HoSeo when they play, people who put Rainbow will have the same problem since ST will win a lot of matches.

You'll always get negative points for your anti-team; it's impossible to get negative points for your main team. It's about limiting your anti-points. -1 isn't bad, but it would be better to choose a player from a bad team.

Team Maga: Reading Steiner + Show Spoiler +Captain - IMNesTea - 8 LeenockfOu - 6 SlayerS`GanZi - 5 NsHS.San - 5 Maka.PrimeWE - 4 Dignitas.NaNiwa - 4 FXOqxc - 2 oGsJookTo - 1 Team - F.United - 1
Anti-team - ChoyafOu - 3 TSL.Cliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide - 4 TSL.Trickster - 6
Breakdown: 8 teams, 3 Terran, 3 Zerg, 2 Protoss. My strategies here were to (a) pick players I personally like, (b) choose variety in races and teams, and (c) pick players who are likely to make an appearance. Rule C is the reason I didn't pick BoxeR or HuK -- although in retrospect, for 1 point, JookTo is about as likely to appear as HuK, and SlayerS kind of proved me wrong about BoxeR's appearances as well. As for F.United, I didn't want to spend a lot of points on a team, but I give them more chances to win matches than FXO.
I'm a lot less confident of my anti-team picks. I just kind of picked players who disappointed before and were worth enough points. Figured it was better to spread out across mediocre players than to have to take a big-point player who could easily earn a lot of negative points.
|
Yeah, there's probably a little bit of balance to it too, because anyone who is worth enough to go on your anti-team might get more playing time if their team is 'bad' (this has a lot of variance obviously).

So glad I had alicia. I was so close to getting donraegu, but i thought that his fortune last time was a little lucky, guess it's not. Too bad for all of the MMA pickers .

Do you know if the playoffs will be scored?

Got 9 points today, basically cuz of DRG and Keen being on his team. Actually switched teams from MVP to IM and Violet to asdfOu at the last minute, but even though I'm rooting for team MVP from a fan's perspective, from a predictive standpoint, I feel team IM should be worth it.

I've heard that that is not common practice in the FTLs.

Fun fact .. so far the Most Valuable Player is DRG from .. Team MVP
|
so glad i got DRG lol was so close to not getting him... i'm currently wondering if MMA was worth it... feels like he's slayer's safety so he wont get played as much if slayers is winning

Boy did I regret taking GuineaPig in my anti.

I'm disappointed I switched away from Boxer at the last minute... Still pretty happy sitting on 14 points though.

So I just read this on Thorzain's FB:
mousesports Actually Major League Gaming revelead false information all of a sudden yesterday, so we need to clarify. Our very own Marcus 'ThorZaIN' Eklöf has accepted GSL Code A status and will compete in GSL Code A in August 2011, however he will NOT compete at the upcoming GSTL for team F.United. We don't know what's about Naniwa, tho.
So perhaps he should be taken off the list of players? Although I don't have him on my team I'm sure others do. Though it's not a SUPER big deal as FUnited isn't due to play for awhile anyways.

EDIT: To expand on the Polt situation a bit more, you either want Prime to send Polt out early and for him to destroy a lot of players, or for MarineKing to not win too many games if he's out. Kinda weird to root against a teammate, but wins are worth more than the entire team winning.
This is precisely why I didn't put either Polt or MKP on my team despite their positions as aces on a relatively weaker team. You're putting all your eggs in one basket speculating whether one will be sent out before the other, and that sort of wild speculation shouldn't be reserved for players who cost so much, imo.
Personally I have a feeling MKP will be sent out first due to Polt's undeniable success lately, and in part thanks to MKP's overwhelming popularity -- everyone wants to see him play, right? -- but it's still just a gut feeling, and a shaky one at that.

That's way old, there was a missunderstanding that got sorted out and Thorzain will play in GSTL.

Mouz later stated that it was worded poorly, and that Thorzain will play in the team league in August, they just hadn't gone over it when GOM dropped the news.
