Pretty sure Moonglade isn't in Korea anymore.

Team Benji
+ Show Spoiler +
My reasoning is as follows:
+ Show Spoiler + Anypro: for 3 Points, a solid code S player who will most likely play in Primes lineup in almost every set. Marineking will most likely be the Ace, so he won't get blocked by someone earlier on in the Prime team getting a 4-0 or 4-1, and has potential to get 1-2 wins.
DongRaeGu (Captain): The Ace for MVP, a team that has very few well known players, and as a player has the skill to allkill quite a few teams. MVP will (in my opinion) win series due to his performance).
Hero: 1 Point seems very underpriced. Barely any investment with potential to pay off significantly.
Supernova: Was played quite alot in the previous GSTL's, and has the potential to pick up a kill or 2. I'm thinking he will be put in quite often this GSTL.
Junwi: It was between Ace and Junwi for 2 points, and I wanted an IM player to pick up the 1 point whenever IM wins. Don't have massive hopes as a player, more just want to put something into the IM basket to get some return on their wins. I picked him over some of the 1 point IM players simply because he MIGHT get a game or 2, and COULD get a win or 2.
Genius: Seems expensive, but MVP played him first last season, and could do the same again. I wanted to pick players that were most likely going to play games (ie: MC or MMA might not even get played due to their team being so strong), and Genius can win games as well.
July: I feel that Startale have the slightly weaker of the 2 brackets (no Slayers, MVP or oGs) and if they are going to win games, it will be because July gets a kill or 2. He's also a player I expect will play quite a few games for ST, and won't be sidelined for better players, or not required to play due to an early 4-0 or 4-1.
Ryung: An expensive player, but i wanted a Slayers player to pick up the points when/if they win, and Ryung seems to be a very solid player that gets played quite often in the GSTL, and wins quite often as well.
Team MVP: For 4 points, they are the same points as fou and Prime, but are significantly better imo, proberbly the best value for points.
Anti Team: + Show Spoiler + Qxc: I really want him to win, and i'll be cheering for him and FXO, but I have a feeling that foreigners can't really compete consistantly at the Korean level, and Qxc is a player that I feel will be played in the FXO lineup every time.
Lyn: 5 Points for a player like Lyn, seems quite high. in the United lineup theres Moon, Naniwa, Thorzain and Lyn as the 4 notable players, so I feel he will play quite a few games for them, yet I don't see him winning many as he is in the same group as oGs, Slayers and MVP.
Trickster: Has never really performed well in GSTL, and in general. I cant see him demolishing many lineups himself, and seems a fairly safe bet.

I think NaNi and ThorZaIN are somewhat unsafe picks for anti-team. Because F.United is so small, those players are guaranteed to get games in, and they're solid enough players to get at least a few wins. They might not be super-high scoring players, but not optimal anti-team picks either.

Not sure Fox players are the best choice for anti-team. Their roster is super small so the chance that they play and bite you in the ass is higher than some of the enormous teams that might save their best players or not play them at all, which is the best you can hope for from your anti-team players.
|
Btw desrow, I won't put Huk as captain, because he never played for oGs in the past GSTL...
As far as I understand, the only thing that's special about the captain is that you can't trade him... and since Huk is only one point, you can't trade him anyway (since there are no 0 point players).
|
I've never done a fantasy thing before, so can someone tell me is it better to have more beastly players or more of the "lesser" players that you think will have a break out team league?
|
Yep, always make a 1pointer your captain, as long as they don't change the rules and get 1.5x points for captain wins or so.
|
2 Questions:
Can you trade a 1 Point person for a 1 Point person (seeing as you can only trade for lower value people)
Is it better if your Anti-team loses or doesn't play at all?
|
Hey guys I have a question: Do player point values stay the same for the entire season, or do they change based on player performance?
Basically I would like to know if it is worth investing in some lower-point players that might rise up some points and then trade them for better players later on.
|
To the posters above me: This will probably be exactly like the BW PL Fantasy, which has been going on here at TL for about 3 years or so. Player point values change based on how many points they score from week to week. Like, if Huk was sent out in week 1, won a game and then was sent out as the ace and won again, he'd probably go up to about 2 points. Of course, in the BW fantasy league the initial points don't mean anything, and player ratings are on a scale of about 5-100 to flush out a more complete ranking. So Huk and the other 1 point players probably will start out at like 3-5 points, and if the scenario I just described happens Huk would likely shoot up to about 20-30 points by week 2.
Edit: Here's the rankings for the BW players in fantasy proleague, to give you guys more of an idea of what it will look like. The current round is going into week 8.

Player Scoring: Lineup Appearance: +1 Point* Game Win: +2 Points per win Game Loss: -1 Point
So if your player plays and looses it should be 0 points, same as if he didn't play. So you cannot get minus points in your regular team or plus points in your anti team. So choosing players for the Anti who don't play should be pretty good. (Therefore I picked the F.United players to trade them later on)

DRG was exhausted after an extremely close series (including a 68-minute game) with FXOqxc, something to take into account there. My team with detailed analysis: + Show Spoiler +Gonna be providing analysis on why I chose every player, hopefully that's okay. AscensionMain Team5 AliciaObviously if you pick a few players from the same team, there's a decent chance that they won't all be played, which is wasted points. Alicia was only 5 points and is the best Protoss on SlayerS, so it's likely he'll play every week, not to mention he's good. I felt he was a value pick here. 1 BBoongBBoongBBoongBBoong played well last GSTL and I think he can repeat. He was only 1 point and I figured he'd pick up a few games here. There are plenty of worse players that are 2/3 points. 5 GuineaPigRandom players are such an asset in a team league, and GuineaPig performed amazingly well in the last GSTL, he's no doubt going to do well. He's probably the best Random in the world. 2 HwangSinWell, he's on the same team as GuineaPig, but HwangSin is clearly a strong up-and-coming player and I figured he'd be somewhat of a surprise. Bit of a risk here, but he's a solid player, hopefully he gets to play. 9 MC (captain) There are many incredible top Terrans in Korea however their performances can be up and down. MC has cemented his position as the best Protoss in the world and he's definitely oGs' ace. I'm sure he'll be played late to sweep up for oGs and will probably justify his high cost. Captain because I'm not giving him away for sure! 2 QxcHe's a risk, but he's also cheap and he took DongRaeGu to a 68 minute game in the Code A qualifiers. I think he's stronger than Sheth and Oz for FXO right now and I'm sure with the hard practice he's being doing that he'll pick up some wins. 7 sCI needed a player from fOu, and I wasn't too familiar with their B-teamers, and I had some points to spare, so why not sC? He's never been the best, but he's seemingly pretty consistent, so I suppose this was a decent decision. 1 SocceRFOX has so few players, SocceR was 1 point, and he managed to get through the brutal Code A qualifiers, so yeah, value pick right here. 4 MVPWhat can I say? They did great last GSTL and this should be no different. At only 4 points, this was a no brainer. Anti Team4 InCaNot that great. I think he's likely to get played by oGs, and that he's likely to lose. 5 JulyAn awesome guy, but he strikes me as a player that does better with preparation than an opponent than in a team league style. Might be wrong, I just don't expect him to do that well. 5 MoonHe's going to get played, and he's shown that he is not at the caliber of other Koreans. This was a pretty obvious decision, I certainly don't dislike him, WC3 represent. That's my team, hopefully they do good!
i dont agree with inca being an anti...neither july. inca is a snipe player, which means he'll virtually always get pts. (pvp specialist) and july is july. he's good. not OR at all.

not enough points!
Main Team 5 Alicia 1 Avenge 1 BBoongBBoong 4 Min 9 MMA (captain) 4 NaDa 2 Qxc 3 Sheth 6 SlayerS
Anti Team 3 Kyrix 9 MVP 1 Tankboy
bam!
Alicia and Min are because they are two of SlayerS few good non-T's, especially Alicia (takin you out, MC!)
MMA because, well, he's MMA and being a fanboi is fun :D
Avenge is in because it seems like MVP has gobbled up a lot of unheard-of talent, he's one point, and he replace Ryung because it was too expensive :<
BBoongBBoong also is 1 point, and from what i was reading early today he sounded pretty good~like the team name says, not enough points D:
Nada is a beast~don't know why he wasn't more than 4, but i'm very glad that he wasn't :D
QXC and Sheth because they are a guaranteed show in the GSTL, and both are somewhat unorthodox in their playstyles which might catch some KR's off guard. Also, he's qxc, and you've probably heard of him :p
And SlayerS because Boxer+Cella+2 in a row already=an extreme drive for 3 straight
Anti team of MVP, Kyrix, Tankboy mostly because i needed 3 and MVP/Thorzain didn't work D: ~MVP seemed like he was in a bit of a slump recently... plus with a bunch of other bamfs on IM, i don't see him needing to come out a lot, sorry to say :S ~Kyrix, haven't seen very good play out of ~Tankboy i haven't heard of, never seen in any kind of mentions of Code A/S/GSTL, so unless he's a closet gosu that is the son of a virgin that dedicated her whole life to SC, i doubt he's going to show up much xD

+ Show Spoiler + So I decided to stay away from the larger teams, except for MVP for DRG, b/c they are so reliant on him. I also went heavy into FXO since they play for the first 5 weeks straight, and picked up Twilight (who will probably be their Ace), and Qxc who is stylistically good for the team leagues, and was the farthest playest member at the qualifiers. Then I went for Gumiho b/c in the team league (so not including sC's individual league success) he is the best player on fOu, who have a lot of matches early on. Then Happy b/c he is cheap, and just made Code A, and IM is a relatively small team. aLive is still worth it even for 7 points, b/c like DRG, TSL relies on him so much in the team leagues. And finally I got Soccer, because FOX is so small, their players are very valuable, and he's only 1 point, and he just qualified for Code A. Although Fox doesn't play until Week 6, I fear that if Soccer does well in Code A, he'll go over 1 point, so I'm keeping him for now because he's only a measly 1 point and I think he'll do very well.
And finally, for anti-team I picked Lyn and Moon b/c I'll just swap them out before Week 6, and Frozen b/c he's bad. And finally I picked two-time Champion team SlayerS b/c obviously.

i'm wondering if moon would be good as main team seeing his dreamhack results... he's inconsistent but sometimes he can achieve surprising results. it's a choice between him and thorzain cuz i want an F.united guy anyways

Main Team 5 Alicia I get nerd chills watchin' this guy (just like Artosis) He took down MC and I hope he he just had a bad day against Polt Then again, Polt was crushin' everyone, inlcuding MMA, so his loss doesn't seem so bad anymore. 1 Hero Beat DongRaeGu in GSL qualifiers... that's all I need to say. 2 HwangSin Won the TL Open, so I had to choose between this guy and MVP_Violet. Went with HwangSin. 1 JookTo He preformed very well in the Super Tournament, maybe the best 1-pointer 8 NesTea (captain) OMG NesTea 1000 IQ STOP THE METEOR NESTEA 8 Polt He made the super tournament look easy... taking down players from all races. I also think being on the same team as MarineKing is really helping him out. 2 TheStC Just got out of service, was one of the best in beta, great 2-pointer. 3 Younghwa He recently took a game off of DongRaeGu in the Ro8 of the LG Cinema 3D tournament, showing he's not just a PvP sniper. 6 SlayerS They've won the past two, how could I pick against them?
Anti Team 4 FruitDealer He hasn't performed well in a long time, and I feel he just isn't who he used to be. 5 Lyn I think he's probably the worst player on F. United and since the team is so small, he's almost guaranteed to play. 6 Trickster He used to be my favorite player in the beta and GSL Season 1, but he just isn't who he used to be.
