HAHA! That is very classy
I am speechless...what do you do in a typical day?
Are you serious? That is friggin' out of the world. Really awesome.
Holy good god, that's amazing.
Lol designed for research in chemistry, physics, biology, neuroscience - bet they never imagined playing SCII on it. Very nice.
Dude can I come watch the next MLG at your work? I'll bring the booze.
imo u should get fired for using a teraflop gosucomputer for the sake of watching SC2 how is its graphical capacity btw ? 200 nvidia quadro in quintuple SLI mode or something =)
SOOOOO SICK i will fly to georgia for NASL playoffs if we can watch on this bad boy

I thought it was old, long haired Greg when I saw the picture. So similar.

LOL he does look a bit like Idra.
This is awesome.... Where do you buy one of those?
That is amazing, could you by chance take some pictures of the guts of computer? Just something like a picture of fine cable management, pweety please
also spotlight this
Not to be a dick, lol, but you think if they could build a ridiculous supercomputer as such, they could find/make monitors with smaller bezels for the tiles. I'm probably being completely ignorant on this, but oh well. Otherwise it's awesome!
i have no idea what 14.1 teraflop are, but it sounds quite impressive... i guess?
I'd love to see SC2 fired up in full screen, 4inch tall marines anyone?
Yes please...
That's your work computer? :O
What the hell is your job O.O?
am i the only one that thinks this should be a blog? still nice setup, totally jealous!
Where can I order one of these ?
I can't handle that. It's complete awesome-overflow.
I want to see a pro play from this, not just have it broadcasted from this, they have to use this to play, the minimap would take up like an entire screen it would be awesome.

Sounds impressive, but can it run crysis at max?
Ready for dreamhack, 5 streams? no problem :D

Can we trade computers?

This is so sick.. holy crap

Imagine porn on that thing, oh god..

Same... his face is 100% IdrA.
Hair is definitely different and body slightly, but you could lift his face and put it on IdrA's and a lot of people wouldn't notice.

14 teraflop computer with nothing but justin.tv and Banelings on it >.> + Show Spoiler + User was warned for this post
Trumpets!! LOL thats so epic. I wish i had that kind of computer.. never lag in 4v4 again!!
Epic first post. Epic screen, talk about map awareness jesus christ.

That thing is huge! what do you do for a living??
That is ridiculous ...
Thank You for sharing

I'm also curious what do you do for work?
Looking nice!
wow that is really fucking gosu, banelings banelings banelings Woahhhh!!!!
Dope picture dude, love the setup
Whoa, cool. I went to that university. I had a philosophy class in the Petit Science Centre, but I didn't know it had cool stuff like that in there.
This is so sick! Where do you work man?
Upload a video of you playing a Starcraft 2 match on that screen please :þ Epic multi screen micro.
I'm going to mirror what everyone else is saying; that's so sick man! What do you do for a living/study?
Wow that computer is insanely amazing!
I can only wonder (or google lol) what an infiniband interconnect is
Holy shit thats amazing. I'm curious with most other people what do you work as? :D
wow!?! WTF!:D man .. u gotta hand me one of those:O
Holy shit. You have more RAM than I do HDD space LOL.
The ultimate stream sniping tool.

That is awesome, how do girls in bikinis look on that thing?
A supercomputer running Windows?
Really?
Hahaha =) That's awesome man, thanks for sharing
Wow... that is crazy What's the window in the top right? And the stuff at the middle bottom?
On June 10 2011 05:33 TheBB wrote: A supercomputer running Windows?

Re-read what he said. The visualization wall is a separate machine (virtual/physical) running windows 7, the supercomp is running AIX

I still wouldn't touch Windows in a research environment with a 10-foot pole though.
I staff the room with this wall in it to experiment with and explore software that can utilize the full resolution ( which is practically nothing haha). Other than that I try to use it for my own research which has to do with Martian Geological features ( that's what the images and papers are for in the bottom middle of the picture). But i would be lying if I said i didn't have at least 4 streams on at all times. SCII software itself sadly has not gotten approved for installation from up the food chain of University IS&T =P. There are about 12 more monitors on the wall that didn't make it into the shot and a full 30x60 inch touch table that will soon be the primary controller of the large display. its got a full surround sound system in the room so at times a full-screen NASL stream is dizzying and scary. Gretrop and inControl still look and sound goofy that big...
OMG dude. KING BALLER UP IN THIS BITCH!

Will it ever be possible to have a single monitor that large, interconnected and in a arc like that?
I see people with "setups" all the time with 3 monitors side by side, but the black lines between them just make it look extremely tacky.
Oh my god, that is awesome. I wish I had that at home, would probably die because I would never leave the apartment.

Not only do I doubt that the system could actually run Starcraft 2 in 1 normal-sized screen, but I can certainly doubt that it would run on something like 4 screens or more at once.
The fact is unless you design something to allow good gaming performance (which I don't see why they would), it will not have good gaming performance.

I see people with "setups" all the time with 3 monitors side by side, but the black lines between them just make it look extremely tacky. Large high resolution displays are not easily constructed. There is a way to get good frame/bezel-less appearance though, and that is to use glass to refract the light away from the borders, and onto one screen or another. I believe it requires the monitors to be in an arc configuration though, not flat.
Another option is to be using projectors instead of monitors. They obviously have their own problems, but can be quite viable, albeit expensive.

Think of all the SC2 Matches you can watch AT THE SAME TIME 0_o
That's insane... I don't even know what some of those specs mean... 0_o
Can I come to your computer to watch MSL Finals?
Holy fuck I want one of those
bonus points for the trumpet video

1) Spotlight. 2) Hahahah @ Day[9] trumpets!
This be epic. Thanks for posting this. :D

WHAT!???! I go to school at Georgia State.. my organic chemistry class was in that building. Thats pretty cool.

I'm doing an internship at Cray this summer. Definitely weirded out by the sheer power of these supercomputers. There's a machine here that we have access to that is 12k computing cores, almost 18TB ram. And you can just ssh into it and you'd never know its potential.
DueSs, have you been to ORNL and seen the Jaguar?

I have. Our UT lab collaborates with a lab at ORNL and I just got the "distance" tour. Got to see Kraken, too--nothing to be ashamed about even when compared to the Jag.

i hope you got some binoculars when you are trying to read anything on that setup lol

Wow, damn, that's pretty amazing to say the least!

Not at all. As long as it's a Cray, it's a fine machine.
Also for someone who talked about the "Infiniband interconnect"... basically an interconnect is the system by which information passes between different nodes (or sets of processors that function as one unit). These usually consist of very very fast network cards. The infiniband is just the IBM (?) branding for the specific interconnect they use.
At least this is as far as I understand what an interconnect is. I'll ask more about it tomorrow.

R1CH needs to make one of those for TL HQ

That is so cool man, you rock!
Question: can that supercomputer run on max settings?
Awesome tile display!
Woooot that`s awesome! really sick^^
Now that's Chic. I want one
So sick. You must be smart ^_^
So... fucking.. BEAUTIFUL!
Although I can't read a damn thing on any of the monitors if I sat at a distance far enough away to see all of them at once.
BTW, i know you probably are not allowed to, but if you would want to take some more pics of the computer internals, it would give me a great pleasure to watch them ^_^

Are you IDrA's Uncle or Brother?
200 million pixels are hurting ESPORTS, also probably your eyes
To be honest I think i'd find it quite annoying, it'd be like playing starcraft through a giant window, not to mention taking 45 minutes to look from supply to minimap
Nonetheless very cool, well done on having an awesome job :D
Now you need to play a game!

Amazing O.O I want it :D
Edit: I have the same background for my PC
Wow this thing is at my school? Amazing.
GSL finals would be sick to watch on that ^^
Oh man this makes my 42in look like a POS
So jealous, and congrats on having the clearance to pull something like this off :D That's a hell of a supercomputer, what is it's primary purpose?
This if fantastic! I can't even fathom the cost of that! I'm drooling at the thought of playing SC2 on that LOL.
So, can this run SC2 on Extreme?
LOL jk awesome, what kind of job do you have? o_o
Surprised this thing runs x86 or AMD64 stuff at all. Thanks for sharing
I suppose you can't play with that. (Overkill)
Haha, that's freakin' amazing. Have you tried playing SC2? :D
Sick, really nice. Thanks for sharing...
More RAM than I have storage is just not fair.
