Introduction

As TSL gears up for their team kill in the Round of 16, ST_Virus is looking to take out oGsInCa in what some may consider a huge upset if he can pull it off. As well as that we have potentially the most epic ZvZ of all time, as GSL champions clash for swarm dominance. Aside from them another superb Zerg looks to go further in the form of ST_July. Narrowly missing out on the last GSL championship, will he take out anyproPrime in what some consider a Protoss favoured match-up?

TSL_Clide < VS > TSL_Killer

Game 1 - Metalopolis

Clide ends up spawning at the 6 while Killer spawns at 12 for this all-star TSL match-up. Clide begins to wall in at the top of his ramp as Killer opens standard PvT. Our Terran opts to go for a quick tech lab on Barracks as well as a Command Center while Killer finds the hidden SCV with a Stalker. With Reaper now in production, Killer goes for a gold expansion quickly followed by 3 more Gateways. The Reaper for Clide jumps up in to the base of Killer, while the Terran actually spots the gold base with the help of a Watchtower.

Killer gears up for a 4 Gateway push to compliment his expansion, and as the Protoss pushes in to the natural of Clide, he denies the natural from being taken and begins to contain the Terran. Poking up the ramp again, Killer behind this invests in a Robotics Facility while Clide starts to tech up in order to gain access to Medivacs, required to negate the contain. Killer chasing a lone Reaper, loses focus as Clide stims down the ramp and decimates the force below, securing his natural and pushing toward the gold.

Killer throws down a Robotics Bay and now is in a ominous position as his force is significantly smaller than the Terrans. Thermal Lance begins production while Medivacs also begin. Clide begins to stage a drop in the main of Killer but is denied by a Colossus and Zealots. Dropping a single Marauder to distract Killer, Clide pushes in to the Gold base however great force-field placement denies much damage from being done at all to the main force of the Protoss, but doing significant damage to the Probe count.

At this point Killer’s army is superior, but he’s behind in the worker count. Killer pushes toward the force of Clide, throwing up a guardian shield and forces the Terran back. Killer securing his natural while Clide goes for a 3rd base as well. Our Terran player continues the drop harass but Stalkers deny it in the main. Killer goes for a Twilight Council while Clide begins Viking production as well as a Ghost Academy. Killer looks to gear up for an attack, taking out a scouting Factory with Stalkers and researching Blink to potentially deal with the Viking count in a dance of armies. With 6 Colossi out now, both armies just move around in mid-field looking for their opponents to slip in positioning.

Killer engages, throwing down great force-fields, however some lovely EMPs along with the Vikings decimating the Colossi, both armies go blow for blow, trading the majority of each others force. Killer starts to expand as well as throwing down a Dark Shrine and Zealot Charge. With the gold base for Killer completely mined out, Clide also goes for a 4th base as he pushes in to the gold of Killer and destroys it. Killer warps in a few Dark Templar, denying the 4th base completely along with killing a lot of SCVs at Clide’s 3rd. Clide on the other hand pushes up to the latest expansion of Killer looking to do damage, however a lone Dark Templar denies the attack for quite a while.

Clide with the upgrade advantage finally pushes in, focus firing the Colossus with the Vikings, and even though Clide kills almost all the Protoss force, the lack of detection cripples him as the Dark Templar do huge amounts of damage when not protected against them. Retreating to his gold, Clide continues to pump Biological forces while Killer throws down a Templar Archives only to continue the Dark Templar harass all across the map. Clide tries to push in to the base of Killer again however is pushed away convincingly by the Protoss.

Killer gearing up to attack the Gold with a crack force of Zealots and Dark Templar is spotted by Clide and denied the harass, as Psi Storm begins research. Killer opts to expand once again to the west as Clide pushes up the map yet again to deny. As Clide forces the cancel on the expansion, Killer pushes in to the gold with Dark Templar killing a lot of SCVs. Clide attempts to push in to the base of Killer yet again but is stopped by great Psi Storms, doing huge damage. More Zealots warp in attacking the 3rd of Clide, shutting down all mining.

Killer all over the place with great harassment, continues to put the pressure on in the gold base of Clide, whilst our Terran feeling the frustration pushes in to the position of the Protoss army. Colossus fall to the Viking and Marauder force as Clide cleans up the majority of the army. Denying the 5th base yet again, Clide pushes in to the next base of Killer, taking out the Nexus and Pylon warping in Zealots. The Terran sensing blood in the water, continues the pressure, as Killer is torn apart by great micro, forcing the GG from the Protoss after all the Probes fall in quick succession. An amazing PvT.

Game 2 - Tal’Darim Altar LE

After a dramatic game 1, Clide spawns at the 5 as Killer spawns at 2. Both players once again open standard on this huge map. A quick tech lab on Barracks yet again graces our vision as Warpgate tech begins for our Protoss. Clide goes for a 1 Barracks expand as Killer also goes for the quick Nexus after Cybernetics Core. Killer throws down a few more Gateways along with a Twilight Council, as the Terran goes for more Barracks. Throwing down all 4 gas, Killer also goes for a Dark Shrine to punish the Terran in similar fashion to that of the previous game.

Clide throws down his initial Factory while Killer begins to break down the second natural Rocks. However Clide with amazing game sense scouts the rocks begin destroyed at almost the exact same time as the assault begun. Killer warps in a few Dark Templar and tries for the poke, however bunkers and a Missile Turret deny any damage. Killer goes for a Robotics Bay as well as a second Nexus, as Thermal Lance and Colossus begin shortly after. Clide attempts a drop in the main of Killer, however it’s denied after a single Pylon falls. Swinging around and dropping in the natural, Clide does a good amount of damage to the Probe line, as Killer didn’t bring enough units to clean it up out-right.

Clide throws down a Command Center in his main as he begins staging double drops, killing off the 3rd base off entirely. Clide continues to pile on the pressure, dropping yet again in the main of Killer, sniping a Robotics Facility, and cancelling the rebuilding Nexus at Killer’s second expo. Killer attempts to do some harass with Dark Templar killing off a few SCVs, however Clide cleans it up pretty quickly. With Templar Archive on the way, a Ghost Academy goes down for Clide as he sharks around the map with his strong Biological/Viking force. Killer begins to research Blink and Psi Storm as Clide’s 3/3 completes, while Ghosts begin to pump out.

Clide decides it’s time to engage, as the Protoss force pushes down his ramp, but with a small Viking count and great Psi Storms, Killer tears through the forces of Clide, forcing the retreat. Killer shortly after decides to expand twice after that minor victory, as well as invest in Charge. Killer chooses to attack in to the force of Clide, however loses pretty significantly and is forces to re-macro back at home, licking his wounds.

Clide continues to put on the pressure, dropping the expansions of Killer, but an engagement in mid-field once again sees a huge amount of wasted Psi Storms get wasted, quickly followed by a few snipes of High Templar by stimmed Marauders. Clide pushes in to the force of Killer yet again, laying down some nice EMPs on the High Templars, however some good feedbacks fall as well. Clide decides to fall back as a few Archons merge.

Clide pushes up to a western expansion of the Protoss, taking it out with Marauders in seconds, as both players look for position to engage. Clide decides to go for it, however great Psi Storms land, ripping apart the Marauder heavy force. As the game goes back and forth over and over, Clide pushes in for another time, however Killer’s force is too strong, and Clide GGs shortly after.

Game 3 - Dual Sight

On to the final PvT between these two epic players, as Clide spawns at 9 while Killer spawns at 3. Both players open standard once again, as they both go for an early expansion, however Killer opts for the gold base as was similar in game 1. Clide goes for a Factory to leap on to a Starport, as Clide scouts the natural of Killer going up, so as not to suspect alternate positions. A Robotics Facility goes up now for the Protoss while he contains the forces of Clide in his base. Clide goes for a drop and by chance notices the gold base, sniping the Nexus as Killer already has a Robotics Bay finished and researching Thermal Lance.

Killer falls back with the majority of his Probes and forces to his natural, as Clide’s drop in the main of the Protoss is denied by a few Stalkers extremely cleanly. Whilst attempting to expand to a closer base, the Protoss invests in a Twilight Council but Clide denies the Nexus from going up with stimmed Biological forces. Killer continues to pursue the army however Clide barely escapes with force-fields falling just behind him. Killer goes for the Nexus yet again, as Clide dances around in mid-field with his whole force. Clide manages to nip a Colossus with a few volleys of Viking fire, quickly followed by a full push, as Killers force mostly falls, pushing the Protoss back to his natural.

Clide pushes in to the 2nd natural, sniping the Nexus then falling back in clever tactical fashion. Getting a volley of Viking fire off yet again on a Colossus, Killer attempts to Blink in to them taking out several Vikings. Clide feeling the pressure pushes in only to be pinned in by several force-fields, dealing huge damage to the forces of the Terran overall, handing a lot of map control over to the Protoss. Killer continues to pump Colossus, as Clide flies his main Command Center to another base. Clide however chooses a bad place to push in and gets shredded by Colossus and Stalkers. Clide GGs to his team-mate, and Killer advances to the Round of 8.

ST_Virus < VS > oGsInCa

Game 1 - Xel’Naga Caverns

On to the second series of the day, with Virus spawning at 2 and InCa spawning at 7. Both players open in the usual PvT fashion, as Virus gears up to do some Marauder pressure. InCa goes for a fast expand however after losing a Stalker in front of the Terran’s natural, Virus continues to push toward the natural of InCa. The Marauders and Marines reach the expo of InCa who doesn’t cancel, and fends off the push with Stalkers with the help of Probes.

InCa transitioning goes for duel Forge in his main, while Virus goes for a Command Center and Starport. The Protoss also goes for a Robotics Facility as well as throwing down cannons in his probe lines, fearing any Banshee harass that comes along. As the Twilight Council goes down, Virus wants to drop but is unable to as an Observer denies the harass. Virus starts to poke around the front of InCa’s base, while throwing down a few Barracks and breaking the gold Rocks. Zealot Charge almost finished for InCa, along with 2/2 on the way, Virus goes for a hidden Ghost Academy while the Protoss invests in a Robotics Bay.

Virus drops a single Marine in to the main of the Protoss, scouting the double Forge and invests in another Command Center while InCa goes for a Nexus. Virus attempts to push in and with great EMPs, does a lot of damage to the force of InCa, forcing the cancel of the Nexus. Virus continues to push in however with warping in reinforcements, the Terran is forced to run away asap.

After the battle calms, InCa chooses to throw down the expansion again, as Virus secures his gold for an economic lead. Virus looks to push in to the latest expansion of the Protoss yet again, however with 4 Colossi out, it could be a deadly push. Virus commits to the push, taking out all the Colossi with Vikings, however with a whittling Biological force, he’s forced to retreat to his gold after only trading armies. InCa looks to secure his own gold now, destroying the rocks, but Virus quickly gets the cancel on the Nexus while the Protoss force is out of position.

InCa pushes in to the force of Virus, taking out the entire force with ease, even though good volleys from the Vikings landed on the Colossus. The Protoss player now starts to research Psi Storm, along with a lot more Gateways going down. Virus pushes into the force of InCa yet again with a great Viking angle, but neither player commits to a full battle, both retreating to a better position for themselves. Virus continues to try harass the gold base, however InCa’s force just rolls in and decimates the entirety of the Terran force. During the chase however, Virus mounts a beautiful counter-push, sniping the gold Nexus with 5 Marauders and 5 Marines. InCa pushes in to the gold base of Virus, almost 100 supply up, taking the GG off the Terran.

Game 2 - Dual Sight

After a very aggressive game from Virus, he spawns at 2 while InCa spawns at 9. InCa opens with a Nexus first, as Virus seems to open more standard. Virus goes for a quick Factory as InCa begins his Cybernetics Core and a second Gateway. Virus goes for a Starport shortly after the Factory going for quick Banshee harass with Cloak. More Gateways going down for InCa as he pokes up the ramp of Virus, only seeing a Barracks with Reactor, but InCa starts a Robotics Facility almost instantly.

The initial Banshee of Virus moves in to the natural of InCa, killing 6 Probes as an Observer pops out and shuts down the harass, killing the Banshee with Stalkers. While InCa continues to establish his economy, Virus is going for a 1 base all-in, with Marines/Tanks/Raven and SCVs. InCa pushes in as the Stalkers get negated by the Point Defense Drone, but somehow InCa fends off the initial push with the help of Immortal fire focusing the Siege Tanks. However, with reinforcing Tanks and Marines, Virus pushes the forces of InCa in to his main, taking out the natural Nexus and throwing down Bunkers at the base of his ramp. Somehow though, with good force-field placement, InCa pushes out of his base and cleans up the contain.

InCa now up by 20 Probes in commanding position of the economy game, throws down a Twilight Council as well as his Nexus again. Virus knowing he can’t do anything else, pulls all his SCVs with Marines and Tanks, pushing in to the natural however it’s very in-effective against the Stalker/Immortal mix. Virus GGs and InCa advances to the Round of 8.

Game 3 - Metalopolis

Not Needed.

IMNesTea < VS > TSL_FruitDealer

Game 1 - Terminus RE

With Nestea spawning at 12 and FruitDealer spawning at 3, FruitDealer opts for a 7 Spawning Pool in potentially the most epic ZvZ series since Nestea vs Dimaga. Nestea on the other hand goes for a quick Hatchery first and Spawning Pool straight after. Zerglings breach the base of Nestea and the Drones move away from the minerals as a Spine Crawler for FruitDealer pops as well. Down to 5 Drones now, Nestea is massively behind in Drones, as FruitDealer’s Zergling Speed is already half finished.

Having cancelled the expansion previously, Nestea now blocks his ramp with Zergling and Queen, denying any Zerglings from getting up in to his base. FruitDealer decides it’s time for the Roach Warren, as Nestea begins to spread creep with a second Queen whilst making a Spine Crawler. FruitDealer however already has his extra base up and running, as the contain continues and now FruitDealer is 30 supply ahead. Nestea goes for a 1 base Lair in a weird twist, however FruitDealer gets in to the main of Nestea with a lot of Zerglings, killing off a Queen an a few Drones. A huge amount of Roaches now move across the map for FruitDealer, along with reinforcing Zerglings. Pushing up the ramp, FruitDealer claims the game and Nestea GGs.
[URL=http://imgur.com/6kP7F][IMG]http://i.imgur.com/6kP7Fl.jpg[/URL][/img]

Game 2 - Dual Sight

Nestea after a crushing defeat spawns at the 9, while FruitDealer spawns at 2. FruitDealer goes for a fast expansion however in a twist of fate, Nestea goes for the ridiculously early Spawning Pool, and as his Zerglings spawn, Nestea along with pulling a lot of drones for the attack. A Spine Crawler goes down for Nestea in the base of FruitDealer and even though FruitDealer has Zerglings spawn, it’s not enough to defend against the cheese of Nestea. FruitDealer GGs, tieing the series 1:1.

Game 3 - Tal’Darim Altar LE

After both cheesing each other out 1:1, Nestea spawns at the 6 while FruitDealer spawns at 12. Neither play goes for cheese but rather both this time go for faster Hatcheries. As their builds mirror each other throwing down their Spawning Pools at exactly the same time as well, the production tab lines up perfectly for these two god-like Zerg players. Both players go for Speed as well as 2 Queens a piece. FruitDealer opts for the Baneling Nest while Nestea goes for a Spine Crawler and a Baneling Nest as well.

Both players go for a Roach Warren however FruitDealer acting as the aggressor, attempts to push some Banelings in to the natural mineral line of Nestea. Losing the Banelings, FruitDealer falls back as a well place Spine Crawler and Queen hold the defense. Zerglings of Nestea manage to run past some Roaches, scouting everything as Nestea also gears up for a 3rd base. FruitDealer goes for a very heavy Roach build, as he’s currently 15 Roaches up on his opponent. Nestea throws down more Spine Crawlers as FruitDealer pushes in, fending off the Dealer with overwhelming defense. However FruitDealer spawns a tonne of Banelings in, taking out the Spines but Nestea’s Roach count is too high for him to contend with.

With more Banelings morphing in, FruitDealer behind in economy looks to want to land the killing blow. As the Roaches push in, a huge amount of Banelings push in as well, but great split from Nestea saves a lot of his Roaches, that are able to clean up the rest of FruitDealers force. FruitDealer pushes in to the 3rd base of NesTea with Zerglings, briefly shutting down the mining before being pushed away with a Roach force. Nestea decides it’s time to finish this, as he morphs in 30 Banelings to accompany his overwhelming Roach force. FruitDealer gets crushed, and Nestea advances to the Round of 8.

anyproPrime.WE < VS > ST_July

Game 1 - Xel’Naga Caverns

anypro spawns at the 1 while our God of War spawns at 7. July opts for Spawning Pool first along with gas, while anypro goes for a standard PvZ opening. Anypro after allowing July to scout a Stalker, throws down a quick Stargate for an aggressive opening. July on the other hand has already thrown down his expansion, and a very fast Lair is morphing in. Anypro goes for another 2 Gateways, making this a 4 Gateway Stargate build. Anypro throws down a Nexus which is most likely fake, as he continues to pump Gateway units.

July on the other hand is getting Spore Crawlers as well as a Hydralisk Den and Spire. Anypro cancels the Nexus and pushes out across the map with his huge force. July only notices the push at the last second, and begins to produce Hydralisks as soon as possible. Good force-fields cut a lot of July’s units in half, as anypro continues to reinforce with a heavy Gateway composition. Pushing up in to the main of July, anypro kills off the rest of the Drones and July GGs for the first game of the series.

Game 2 - Terminus RE

Anypro spawns at the 3 while our unfortunate loser from the last game spawns at 12. July goes for a Hatchery first, as anypro opts for an expansion first after placing a bad pylon, blocking his own Nexus. Anypro in turn, after throwing down a Forge attempts to cannon the natural of July, but it’s denied in quick fashion as well. As July puts on a little pressure with Zerglings at the front of anypro’s base, he lays down a third Hatchery as he’s so ahead from anypro’s terrible early mistakes.

With Lair and Roach Warren morphing in now, anypro continues to wall in his natural and just finishes Warpgate tech. July with Glial Reconstitution and Burrow on the way looks to go Roach heavy as he scouts 4 more Gateways going down for anypro. July just continues to pump Roaches now, as Tunneling Claws begins. Anypro moves out toward the 3rd expansion of July, and July cancels it. Anypro moving in to the natural of July, as Burrowed Roaches pop up from underneath him and secure the game for July, tieing it up 1:1.

Game 3 - Metalopolis

Anypro after a very strange game spawns at 6, while July spawns at 12 making for cross positions. July goes for a Spawning Pool first along with a gas, as anypro goes for Nexus first followed by a Forge. July now has Zergling speed on the way as well as his own expansion, with double gas going down for anypro in the main. July in response to the very early Nexus goes for an extremely early 2nd base, eventually leaping ahead in economy. July begins morphing in a Lair as well as a Roach Warren, while anypro goes for 6 more Gateways for somewhat of an all-in against the Zerg.

The Gateways finish as Glial Reconstitution begins. July uses perfect timing with an Overseer, scouting all the new Gateways and begins to pump a huge amount of units. With Burrow on the way, anypro goes for a Robotics Facility, no doubt for an Observer, as he pushes out across the map. Attempting to push in to the 3rd of July, anypro is forced back by Burrow as he does not have an Observer currently. July sets up for a surround however with a huge amount of Sentries, a lot of Force-Fields go down seperating all July’s forces. Anypro continues to warp in, and even more great Force-Fields stop the Roaches from doing huge damage. The Protoss takes out the Hatchery as July continues to pump units, but the army of Protoss grows larger and larger behind this. Guardian Shield goes up as anypro does huge damage to July’s Roach count yet again. With almost zero Roaches left, July is forced to GG and is knocked out of the GSL by a perfectly executed timing attack.

All games in series one should be up to date Again, as the games get more epic, they're harder to write in the spur of the moment, so sorry for any grammatical errors or repeating of one or two words.

Also we now have today's album of photos at the top of the thread too :D lots of emotion from the players today. We're really destroying the stereotype of the Korean players being emotionless lol

My money is on a Z v X final, the Z being Nestea.

Doubt it. Anypro is most likely gonna go for the same timing against Zerg, considering it's a strong timing, and just mass sentries and spam F. Seems like the Protoss thing to do.

Sweeet. Thanks for the pictures, and great write-ups!

Nice to see Fruitdealer crack a grin when NesTea came over. Dude's been looking under the weather recently health-wise, I've gotta say.
