Good luck with the team Grubby, it will be totally amazing. Hopefully it will attract a lot of WC3 players to play SC2 with your new team.

Alot of contacts.. what else can a team give? A team house would be ideal for sure but that wasnt going to happen anyway, not to mention he has a wife so I doubt he would like to move into a team house.

[...] Through our newly released website (http://egsinc.org/), we have presented a small portion of things to come for gaming in Europe. You can read the press releases on the website. Now we’d like to share some more fantastic and exciting news with the international community. We are very happy and very honored to announce we are partnering up with Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen. Grubby has been a professional gaming athlete since 2003, traveling all over the world for his profession. He specializes in Real-Time Strategy games and has won six world championships and over a hundred other tournaments. Manuel is also a fantastic person, known as one of the best gamers of the world, if not the best in his segment. To support the community even more we have chosen a route into Starcraft 2 and we are very eager supporting talents with a long-lasting list of achievements. We want them to monetize their value as much as possible and give them ways and means to further develop as their “own” Brand. You can now win these Jerseys From the press release: “EGS operates game content and game competitions on television and the Internet, featuring both paid and free online game competitions, as well as live gaming events on national and international TV channels. In this way, thus far undiscovered gaming talents on the internet will grow to become international TV stars. The best thing is – anybody can enter the competitive gaming scene.” Additionally, the new Internet platform EGSonline.eu will allow the game audience to connect and play competitively on all major games. Soon you can access this platform on http://egsonline.eu and http://gameseries.tv .” [The websites will enter BETA state soon.] “We see the need for a fully funded, budgeted and complete format. Making sure gamers are happy and paid their hard-earned prize money is a first positive step in eSports events. It doesn’t stop here. We also have experience and a strategical road-map when it comes to helping players develop themselves in the eSports scene.” Manuel has chosen to move on as a solo player. We want to make sure Manuel can grow to exponential heights. One of his dreams is to bring a Starcraft 2 series to Europe. With the upcoming EGSonline.eu the new tier 1 competitive gaming internet platform owned by EGS and the events we offer, with the budgeted prize money. We are sure we can offer Manuel everything he needs to make Starcraft 2 in Europe a major success. Grubby Starcraft 2 Series – GSS “For us Manuel is of extraordinary value in Europe as well as for venturing into Asia; we hope Manuel can facilitate a bridge between Asia and Europe.[…] Together with Manuel we will deploy the “Grubby Starcraft 2 Series”, an online and off-line league which will be one of the most exhilarating SC2 Series Europe has seen thus far. On top of that, Manuel will have full access to both our TV-Studio and funding to bring epic matches and entertainment to Europe. We want to make sure our events are a full show with mainstream entertainment, an experience for both gamers and visitors. Everybody should come home with warm feelings and chills of excitement of what has been an exhilarating couple of days while visiting our events.” We will expand on the GSS later this week. Funding EGS has sold a minority share of 30% to the provincial government. With the funding of the local government, KMM group and Technofund Flevoland, we are sure we can bring gamers a long-lasting and welcome new initiative. Grubby has his own home and family, something Mc does not. Grubby is a huge name, he probably have contacts, and who doesn't want to practise with someone as insightful, kind and smart as Grubby?

I've followed some pros (Morrow for instance) and if you look at their match history (custom games) you see that they practise against many other top players that aren't on their team. In fact some play quite rarely with their teammates. I agree better and more practise is needed for many players to get better, but as the pro gaming scene looks right now in the foreign community, I think having sponsors that let you spend more time practising and allowing you to go to different events are more important than being in a team with other players. It's not like Grubby won't have a lot of players to play with.
