Since day[9] has moved to justin.tv, he has been unable to play music due to copyright laws, and it seems likes hes been forcing himself to find something to fill the time that was previously filled with music.

So I was thinking, what can we as a community do to help a man who has given so much to us to help make his dailies a bit easier.

Why not make music for him? It would be free of copy right and be our contribution to his amazing dailies that have taught so many.

So I impose the challenge to all you liquid readers, and especially you musicians (like myself), can you make music for day[9] so that he has something to start his dailies with again.

I'll try to keep up with this thread and update it with all the songs that are uploaded and link them in this post.

I think this is an excellent idea, as soon as I heard that he was unable to play music that he didn't own the rights to, I immediately felt inclined to shoot him an email stating that I give him permission to use my own personal tracks in his daily. Here are a few links to my original productions to get things started:

Progressive House - Glow

Downtempo/minimal hip-hop instrumental - Green

Progressive Breaks - Backyard Breaks

Progressive Breaks - The Abyss

chillout/downtempo - Moment Of Clarity

progressive house - Clear Water

Trance - SyNRG

Progressive Breaks - Near your energy (Core NRG Mix 2008)

Trance - Resurgence

NOTE: any of the above tracks that do not have a download option on the soundcloud link can be downloaded from my official site's "singles" page: http://bit.ly/edzDBN

as you can see, there are several genres to choose from. Granted these may not all be his "style" but I'm happy to offer them for use on his stream royalty-free :D

Ambient Electroey stuff. Seems like this guy would be cool using his music based on his disclaimer at the bottom. Seems kinda like something day9 might like. All of his albums are free to download.

Seems like a great idea, only that I lack skill and can't really create something that day9 could use, but I'm sure that enough people will come forward and create some awesome tunes for him!

Before we post stuff of other songs/artists not related to the SC scene we should really stress more community involvement. Both Day9 and the community can benefit from a thing like this. Day9 gets cool music, and SC2 community gets to showcase its work to everyone else.

Someone should contact Trentemøller and ask for permission to stream his music in the background. Seems like Mr. Day9 is quite fond of his music

I couldn't agree more It's definitely a win/win situation!

Here's an idea, what if we could get a few TL musical artists together to collaborate on an official theme or intro song for the Day[9] daily? We could come up with a few clips and then let Day[9] pick his favorite!

I think it'd be worth pitching to him to see if he's at all interested, I for one can say I'd definitely be on-board for a project like that.

Nuff said. I'm sure plenty of them are starcraft fans, and it's a good way of showcasing another cool community.

Jamendo is a library full of CC-licensed music. I first saw it when I used Ubuntu's RhythmBox, and I like a lot I downloaded from the service.

http://www.modarchive.org is a site that contains publicly available free music. These are not standard wav format style tracks though, they are sort of like a combination between wav/MP3 and MIDI, some tracks can just be chiptunes, but others can be indistinguishable from an MP3.
A decent comparison would be like SVG vs JPG.

Generally mod-style tracks take up much less space because they can use the same sound effects or instruments over and over again - the biggest space sink is stuff like vocals, because that obviously can't be looped much or at all.

@CustomKal, yeah, had to put it up. here:

http://cid-76ab220a56aaf9b8.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Documents/On the Ninth Day - Iota.mp3

My contribution to the Day9 cause, more to come! feedback appreciated via my song-related TeamLiquid blog, i would love some public opinions on a direction for the next one (it will have day9 sounds/speech clips)

If that link doesn't work for whatever reason, lemme know, but i know mediafire and such have a DL limit so that one should be infinite ^^

He could also play some of the original music I composed inspired by various units of starcraft 2. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/TheTroubadoursMusic

So far I've written music for the Zergling, Baneling, Thor, Zealot, Observer, Viking, Dark Templar, and Nydus Worm. I even have a clarinet soloist on the Dark Templar Piece and a jazz flutist on the Nydus Worm piece. Enjoy!!

Hey guys, although I am not all that musically inclined, I just wanted to say that this is an awesome thread and it's really cool to see some people getting together to make things just a little bit easier for one of the most dedicated, hard working members of our community =). All of my support goes out to you guys!

I'm listening to some of your stuff right now and it seems pretty awesome so far! Just wanted to say awesome job and keep up the good work =). I'm not usually a big fan of electronic music, but you have a pretty unique style that is very very musically interesting. Not the typical BOOM CHICKA BOOM stuff you know? lol (sorry if that offends anyone who likes that stuff! lol). Are you a professional musician or is more of a hobby thing?

Thanks!! I'm a classical bassoonist (hence the name), and I've started to get more into the idea of composing for video games. So I'm trying to develop a portfolio and I figured this was a good way to start. I'm currently working on a piece inspired by the Probe and the Stalker.

But if you have anyone who would be interested in working with me I'd be glad to get my hands into interesting projects. :D

I'm a guitarist and song writer in a band. I understand that the Starcraft community (and Day9's tastes) are more electronic based, but if I can help out in anyway, let me know.

I listen to di.fm all the time. The musical quality and variety is well worth having to listen to the occasional ad. I find it's difficult genre of music to get into since there is so much of it. I would definitely recommend them for this if they allow re-streaming.

Would be fun to have some kind of Dropbox folder where we can put files of our own music and that Day9 could access and use, not having to go through this thread to find usable mp3s.

Every person who is linking their music is getting it linked on the first post, so you don't have to go through the whole thread.

I think the implications of such a project as this could be far larger then just day[9], many streamers could use it if a list of significance was compiled. I do realize many people who stream largely ignore the copyright complaints unless yelled at and play music while they play anyway etc.

TBH I think it's dumb of record labels by that's a different story.

yeah, if you can streak with grooveshark, why can't you restream it? seems silly. anyway, i hope day9 will actually see this and all of our musics :D

I once made this catchy tune a few years ago, not sure if it is worthy of being pre-daily material, but it still has an electronic feel to it and I'll be more than glad if anyone enjoys it, here it is http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/266491

I don't think day9 comes on teamliquid anymore so i don't know how much use this thread will have but i think C418 let people download their music free and i think he'd like them if he hasn't heard them already. they did the music to minecraft i think

well since its for DL, all we have to do is get him to a) see it in chat due to an influx of questions plugging it which marky will certainly see, or b) tell a mod to show him ( i am in the process of b now)

Free downloads of most of my songs are here:

http://www.last.fm/music/Cullam Olsen/Untitled

It's basically the exact opposite of the kind of stuff that Day9 listens to. They're also super poor/cheap recordings, so I'm hoping at least someone appreciates. I figure if Tyler likes Jes Hudak, then there's a possibility.

I also have a facebook, for anybody who's interested:

Updated the layout of the "singles" page on my website and added several previously-unreleased tracks from my back catalog:

http://bit.ly/edzDBN

streaming directly from the singles page is now enabled. Download links are hosted on my soundcloud account, click the song titles to redirect to each song's respective soundcloud page.

Several different genres are represented, I've experimented quite a bit over the years. Enjoy!

Despite the uselessness of this thread, and the fact that Day9 hasn't seen it nor does he care if I had to guess, I figured I'd post up my newest song anyway, The Purifier.
