Related to: Day[9] Daily #100 "My Life of Starcraft" Subtitled
Hi, for those of you who don't know it yet, on the thread i mentioned above we've been doing a translation of the Day[9] Daily #100 to English and a dozen more languages from around the world. The project is still in progress and we intend to subtitle all the languages we can with the help of users from around the world.
So, a few days back, i was contacted by the Day[9]TV crew and they are very grateful for everybody's interest in this matter and for trying to spread Day[9]'s words around the world. They say they want to help us with this project. They will provide us with english transcripts of the dailies that we want to subtitle. Also they are talking with Blip.tv to find the best way to implement this in the videos and make the subtitling process.
Now, we want to know the 20 dailies you(the community) think would be the best to introduce Day[9] to a fan from a foreign country or for hearing-impaired fans who can't watch the dailies properly.
Every user can pick 5 dailies, and the 20 most voted dailies will be selected. You can only vote once.
If you want to consult the list of all the Day[9] Dailies done to date please visit this link.
Please follow this format to make it easy for me to count the votes:
1. Daily #001: Name 2. Daily #002: Name 3. Daily #003: Name 4. Daily #004: Name 5. Daily #005: Name
Thanks.

1. Daily #252: Secrets of Hotkeys, APM and Mouse Movement.
Generally most of the dailies that apply to all races are good, You should focus on those such that it will apply to all players.

Make sure you do daily 200 for the foreign fans.
The most hilarious thing I might have ever seen in my life.
Plus, everyone in the world must know the glory of the might one, Uniden.
|
Daily number 200 becuz its hilarious
EDIT: its a funday monday daily
|
The battlecruiser "Bobbert" one...hahaha oh god that was funny.
|
UNIDEN! (which i believe is 200) 252, which was listed above and... 261 (part 2 of the mechanics)
and maybe 259 (live QA with Sean)
|
252 was one of my favorites.
|
Any funday monday... Well.... #200, where uniden and number J comes from (which ironically is a funday monday too).
|
respect to OP
|
The 3 daily about mechanics:
1. Daily #261: Newbie Tuesday: Mechanics #2 2. Daily #257: Newbie Tuesday: Refining Mechanics 3. Daily #252: Secrets of Hotkeys, APM and Mouse Movement
Thanks a lot!

So much <3 gotta go out to everyone involved in any part of the subtitleing process.
Im not sure what to vote for, since the Funday Mondays are obviously (imo) the funniest. I´m not sure though if all those jokes translate very well. Anyways, here´s my list:
1. Daily #252 - Secrets of Hotkeys, APM and Mouse Movement (He stated himself it´s his best daily so far) 2. Daily #200 - Alphabetical Free for All (legendary Funday Monday, Uniden, Day[J]) 3. Daily #205 - Dealing with Colossi(Trumpets! +Dealing with Colossi + I think he talks about Mobility vs. Immobility which I think is kinda underrepresented) 4. Daily #208 - Live Coaching with DjWheat (If subbing 2 people is possible) 5. Daily #248 - Dealing with Duckload (White Ra - kinda funny intro, a "normal" Daily)
Dont remember if 248 is one of my better liked dailys, but I guess it serves decently as an example of a generic Daily =)
Didnt include Choose your own Adventure, cuz personally I dont like em that much.
Thanks a bunch for your efforts guys, sadly I really really suck at spelling. My German spelling skills are actually worse than my English.

1. Daily #260: Contaminate This (mostly because of Day9's hilarious experiences with "love") 2. Daily #252: Secrets of Hotkeys, APM and Mouse Movement. Overally useful! 3. Daily #200: 4. Daily #258: Friendday Wednesday with iEchoic: iEchoic's build was recently featured in the latest GSL! Hyperdub almost beat IMMvp with a (lesser) version of it! 5. I dunno, that one game of TLO vs Whitera? (Backdoor Nydus) Can't think of any particular epic ones.
Honestly though, I dont think any of these scratch the epicness that was Daily #100 (though I did nearly piss myself laughing at #260). If you've got time, go for it! The deaf community need more Day9 in their lives :D

I know you said you contacted Day9, but I hope you are not planning to monetize this project for yourself. How does this effect me one way or the other? It doesn't really... except it doesn't give me a warm & fuzzy feeling... and I like feeling warm & fuzzy.

I was thinking more like they would take all the videos, put the subtitles on, and post them all on their own blip.tv account, and get ad revenue for themselves.
Also, Day9 is my homie and I don't like seeing my homies being taken advantage of.
*serious face*

I contacted Day9 and they replied, they liked what we've been doing a lot, and we exchanged some emails finding the best way to do it and planning all this. I was just doing the translation of the daily #100, the idea of doing more was theirs and i accepted helping them (with the help of the others users involved). I don't win anything with this, just the satisfaction of showing day9 dailies to friends and helping foreigners who dont understand it perfectly (also for the deaf fans).
I will not upload anything to my account nor will win money with this.

we need to do 252 right after 100. but we need to get the translating process down first, this transcript-translate-then-time method is more than twice the effort than it should be, doing a script without working with timings right on the video file is counterproductive; also, there's certain rules to follow when doing subtitles, you can't just slap the timings on there once you got all the words, that's not how it works, and that on top of what blip or whoever needs to embed the subs - we need a plan.
won't be working on timings for 100, but i'll try to find some available time and start doing 252 slowly but surely in subtitle workshop; gonna be a while since i'm rusty at it, but depending on available time i got this week (i got a current situation which might turn really bad the next couple days and i'm sick) i think i could put up (where?-important question) a timed script of 252 with ro translation too possibly before a finished version of 100 is done, say next week if things work out
no promises though
also, we need to coordinate this better between the people working pr who want to work and day9+his team and turn it into a real project, 1-2 threads and random pm's won't cut it; any ideas ?

I know, this thread is olny to determine the dailies the community wants to subtitle.

Well we're not professionals, and better do the work twice and get it done than not doing it at all, right?
We've almost finished the whole transcription, only now people have contacted escruting and offered help, and only after we've got half of the work done, people came with suggestions and hints ={
