Kings of Tin is a show that Wacksteven and myself stream as we play team games with the audience and other celebrities from the Starcraft 2 scene. The name of the game is fun, and we try to keep things interesting by using our tin-level skill to come up with creative ideas to win, and often use our celebrity guests as a crutch. Whether it's an OVERLORD ASSISTED NUKE, or the RISE of Murray the Mutalisk our goal is to feature pro's in a casual and energetic environment where FUN and ENTERTAINMENT is the main attraction!
djWHEAT and wacksteven have been friends for a long time. We brought that friendship into the Starcraft II beta where we started playing a lot of 1v1's vs each other and eventually tried playing some 2v2's and found that we had a lot of fun playing as a team, even though we are horrendous.
Wacksteven posed the idea of having a tournament to showcase some of the lower level players and maybe give them a chance to learn something in the process. We decided to start streaming some of our team games and found out that a lot of people enjoy watching us play horribly.
Everyone wanted to play versus us on the stream to beat us into the ground, including some high level players and other celebrities from the scene. We decided to make a show out of it and invite pro players and celebrities to just play some fun team games for the night, letting them get away from their daily grind.

After becoming addicted to World of Warcraft and making a WoW show called Out of Mana, he gave up commentating for a while, focusing on work. He has since returned with Kings of Tin and djWHEAT to bring his charisma and ridiculously horrible play to the Starcraft II scene.+ Show Spoiler +

Thanks I think tonight's episode with IdrA will be an interesting one Each player has brought something unique to the Kings of Tin show, and I think the Gracken will be no different.
Is miniWHEAT gonna give a shoutout to IdrA again and make the Gracken's heart grow three times as large and make him macro with the strength of ten Gracks plus two!?

LOL why are your surprised? Think the Gracken doesn't like to have a little fun? :D
It more has to do with how big of a name he is, especially compared to every other guest you've had. Catz was the strongest guest player to date and he, let's be honest, doesn't even come close to the level IdrA plays at.

Hellyeah, I want to see him comment your game Amazing that IdrA is coming tonight, wont miss the show even if the end of the world is happenining outside my window. Also, hoping to see if IdrA remembers to say something to Mini
Also, not only Artosis, if you could make a special 4v4 Kings of Tin with Tastosis it would be awesomesauce, I for once want to see Tasteless playing and bashing people over skype at the same time!!!
I'm damn excited for this one tonight, I have an awesome dinner at 6.. I'll watch HIMYM at 6:30 and then BAM KoT at 7pm until I fall off my chair stupid drunk. Perfect Wednesday night!

I mean, there are benefits to being visible in the US Starcraft community as a pro living in Korea and I'm sure IdrA sees them. He has to keep up his image. I think it would be impossible for this show not to be really awesome. Looking forward to it.

Love Kings of Tin, however, the quality of the streams is not what I usually expect from a DJ wheat production. Are you guys trying something new? Just look at the saved vods on youtube or whatever, so much pixelation especially when when there is any kind of movement or actions. Very hard to watch.
Thanks for all the content you provide though. It's a great source of entertainment for me.

I agree, however; its only the IdrA series that is pixelated. I watched the Catz series and the video quality was fine. I feel like it may have just been some sort of encoder error on his part, but whatever, entertaining series none the less!

Good eye. Yes there were a few things with the video that we are working out. Last week's IdrA games were more a UStream issue, but it's likely our encoder settings (been using a new box) need some additional tweeking. Hopefully this week will be much better! Thanks for supporting.

We schedule our guests pretty far in advance. VT was one of the squads that I spoke with during the initial episodes of KoT. I'm not going to rescind an invitation because of some drama... if anything I will use the opportunity to discuss.
Regardless, VT.Spades is sick tonight and won't be joining the show. So I guess you'll miss out for nothing.
I'll be more than honored to sub in for Spade's spot as a random guest! Master League Zerg, I don't play as much as I watch your shows, browse TL, or watch replays, but I save princess and doesn't afraid of gracken.
I'd just like to chime in that while I enjoy that various perspectives of the current Kings of Tin, I really miss the laddering that you guys used to do where you would shit-talk random 3v3/4v4 scrubs and people recognizing you and just trolling people hard and people jumping on the stream and ghosting. The fact that Kings of Tin didn't looks super polished was something that I enjoyed A LOT.
Right not it seems way too civilized LOL. I want some genuine anger and chair throwing and surprises that you get form clicking "Find Match".

I think we'll be making a few changes to bring some of that back. It's hard to find a compromise!
I do want to chime in and agree that I find laddering to be more entertaining overall. Whatever you do, keep the show up as I do my very best to watch it.
Possibly alternate weekly between laddering and playing against the chat-room.

Guys, it's alright. The ghosting was unintentional. The sniping...does mess with the show a bit. Rage lasts a short period of time. Painuser was awesome and he will be welcome back anytime. ^_^ Thanks so much for checking out the show, everyone. <3

While Sniping does mess with the show, but I LOVE the rage and just the overall nature of the ladder SURPRISE. GREAT show today guys, and PainUser was fantastic.
It was a great show, only watched a couple of games vs the ghosting guy haha it was so funny!
Painuser is funny and carried the team hehe! you guys put on a great show, i usually just watch it for 1 hour or so because it's a bit late but i enjoy it alot!
Thanks to PainUser for coming on the show! He's definitely welcome back anytime
It's very possible we might flip flop back and forth between the LADDER NIGHT and the AUDIENCE NIGHT because they both seem to have their own draw. I would just hope that people would respect the difference between the two and not try to snipe intentionally during LADDER NIGHT. (We realize it's going to happen and a guy or two will sneak in - but for the most part
It's pretty counter-productive considering the reason we did LADDER NIGHT is because people actually said they enjoyed the element of surprise. When you take that out and 3 people who obviously know exactly what we're up to... well then you just fucked up everything. That's the reason we HAVE the audience night, so we could eliminate that.
Regardless I had a blast and PainUser was a great guest to have. Thanks to everyone for the comments and suggestions on how we can improve the show. This show is FOR THE FANS so if you have any guests you'd like to see or suggestions for UMS or other fun things we could do, make sure to leave them here!
Interesting statistics from last night's custom fastest map:
Painuser had 37 rax with reactors. I had 123 probes and a few bazillion dollars. 12 stargates with like 5 carriers queued up at all times. djWHEAT built a shitload of Brood Lords and had an epic Brood Lord vs Brood Lord battle vs Gunrun.

Gotta echo that I also prefer the ladder format over the one playing with the audience, it's just way more exciting to watch.

Good one, ahahaha.
Hey Wheat, I know you used to let Wacksteven queue up so people don't know when you guys click "Find Match" so people can't snipe you. Have you considered throwing up an overlay so no one sees what's going on during the queue process? I don't completely know the technical details of overlays and streams, but would it be possible for you to just quickly throw up an overlay, possibly mute the Starcraft sound (though that may be a giveaway) and during that time click "Find Match"?
Though going back in forth in ladder and audience may work pretty well too, or getting a few community members to throw down in a 400 food fastest map that was pretty awesome as well.
Wow, waiting for this show is like waiting for a real prime time show. Can't wait for Wednesday nights with the crazy duo. Tivo the other shows, but must watch KOTs live. Got my brother now watching from Afghan.
Thanks, Justanx. That's a great compliment! We love doing the show and appreciate all the feedback. Now we need to whore it up and get more people to check out the show.
Just like to pop in here to say how much I love Kings of Tin and have watched all the shows. I also love that it is Wednesday nights because now I have things to do Monday(Funday Monday), Tuesday(State of the Game), and Wednesday with you all. That being said I currently have a very bad computer and have not been able to join in any of the matches due to not being able to run team games without serious lag. Next week though, I am breaking through and getting new parts to be able to play this game that I love without having to worry about my computer dying because of someone else's creep spread (yeah my comp is THAT bad).
The reason why this even matter's to this show is because EGiNcontroL is by far my favorite SC personality/player/teacher/whatever else you want to call him. And if/when he is on the Kings of Tin I wish of you to make it an Audience Night so I have a chance to play opposite my SC2 mentor. Maybe it will be the first show I miss, maybe I wont even get picked to play in the matches. I just want the chance for the opportunity to maybe get picked so I have the chance to make a memory with iNcontroL.
If you all decide to make it a Ladder Night with him I will not be upset at all. I will still watch your show, I will still love your show, I will still support your show. But as Valentine's Day passes on I just want to convey my admiration of the show and the desire to share in game memories with iNcontroL. I wish you all the best of luck in future episodes and will be there, always.

Not to question your judgment but he could have muted the stream at any point and still be playing with you guys. I think the fact that he kept it on was plain disrespectful. And apologizing after you did something bad and have been reprimanded for it? That's just a b.s. way of dodging the consequences, no?

I love and i mean LOVE KOT the only problem that i've had with it in the past is when you try and make it all fancy with difference camera views and custom games wtf's that about 99% of the guys want you to play your placement matches and get sniped it's so hilarious

You guys should make it a 4v4: the fourth guy just saturates his main and takes an expansion and feeds you guys money while obsing all the pushes and such.
Team placements seem broken because every placement I've completed/seen completed is putting people in Masters League (even when I went 2-3 earlier). Kind of spoils the effect :<

When we first started KoT, we honestly didn't know if it was going to be popular, and this was also under djWHEAT.tv so we didn't have a very good archive system. Unfortunately the only way you can watch past episodes (the ones that aired on djWHEAT.tv) is to goto the OP and use the links there.
Miniwheat is making this show even better! The best Kings of Tin so far thanks to MiniWheat and the reactions of Wack! But I get the impression DJWheat doesn't realise how much better mini is making it. Could not stop laughing at some of the stuff he was coming out with especially with Wack laughing his head off
"Daddy, I thought your color was going to be red." I'm not sure why I thought that was so damn funny but man, really makes me hungry for episode 2 of miniWHEAT learns starcraft.
VOD's going up now. Apparently miniWHEAT stole the show. It's sooooo hard to play with miniWHEAT in my ear, but damnit, if the audience wants a few games with miniWHEAT giving his over the shoulder commentary... then I think we have no choice but to make that happen!
Episode 13 was the best KoT ever ! :D My stomach muscles hurt from so much laughing :D And MiniWheat is just EPIC ! :D Gosh ... this year turns out to be getting better and better for SC2 :D

I want wacksteven to watch the VOD of this weeks show and ask himself wether maybe a little less alcohol would've been more appropriate. Mentioning that you're drunk every minute is really more annoying then funny. Hope this was constructive, because I don't want this to look like a flame , cause you're a good guy. Cheesing was great tho!

It was definitely constructive...and this is the right place to give us constructive feedback. I will keep the alcohol consumption down a bit more. I didn't really eat anything besides a small sandwich yesterday...so it hit me fast! Haha. I work better with a buzz rather than sloppy drunk.

It would have been absolutely ok if wheat and HotBid were drunk too, or if I was drunk :D. Other than that I only thought you were a bit angry at Sixjax not sending anyone so it didn't bother me, you seemed irritated for a good reason. Some funny games too .
now that we are talking about constructive criticism, i wanted to say something too.. and im sure a lot of the followers would agree on this as well.. on the incontrol episode of KoT, there was just too much background noise.. like a mom scolding her son.. kids running around.. more than anything, it struck me as very very unprofessional.. and u shud have seen the chat channel while the show was happening.. it was really really bad! it reduces the production quality of the show by a million miles.. we love you guys.. we love the show.. but things like this are not acceptable.. agreed, u might not know what environment the guest is sitting in.. but before the show please tell this to them and ask them to be a bit professional.. props to u guys for making the show happen! i personally cant wait for more content!! hope this was taken in the right sense!!

Complaining about the chat is hilarious. Also I don't see why Incontrol (just using your example) was not "professional" because he had some kids next to him.
Also, I've seen Wheat, Steven and a guest drinking beer in front of the camera! They're inciting our children to drink. Omg that's so unprofessional.

i wasnt complaining about the chat.. i said the chat was bad just to use that as a reference to the viewers reaction.. go watch that show.. half the things were inaudible.. almost all of it.. and there were just kids yelling around.. which is why i refered only to that episode.. it wasnt nice becuase it spoilt all the fun in the show for me.. i love the show coz i can see them pull off crazy things while talking about it.. and that didnt happen for me in that episode..

I've watched the episode with Incontrol. Sure sometimes the kids were a bit loud but I could always hear Geoff. Also stream chats are always bad

I could only watch part of this live with it being aired so late but from what little I did watch it might very well be the best Kings of Tin episode as of yet.

nice episode! u guys should do team monobattles sometime!!! and btw wack, do u stream when u ladder or when u and wheat practice? i would like to see that.. some catz's style streaming!
P.S. does it matter to you guys (for advertising, tracking, etc..) if I watch it there instead of on blip?
Thanks,
It does matter rastaban, and I'm just appreciative you do ask. However, we don't want to deny someone the content if it can't get to BLIP fast enough. Also Justin.tv/Twitch doesn't yet have a "private" function for VOD's (it's all or nothing). It benefits us more to have views on BLIP, but until the technology is in place for us to utilize it 100% - if you can watch it... WATCH IT :D

I stream pretty randomly. My goal is a few hours after work everyday. Marcus wanted to do some practice, so I just streamed it. Might happen again. Depends on our moods.

yeah he casted with Chill i remember!
Best cocaster alive. Doesn't get much exposure though because people are always replacing him.
Is that the brother of that guy, TBD, who always forfeits his place in every major tournament he gets into? They should play 4v4 and invite them both. Better have backup though, I don't trust TBD.

yeah i think so, i mean he's always signed up to be in major tournaments and constantly gets replaced...
I'm excited for KoT today and tomorrow! Thanks wheat/whack for making my days off this week extra awesome, this is gonna make for a nice lead in to IPL3.

You basically answered you own question, so I don't see why you are asking. But yes there is djwheat even said it on his twitter account.

Tweeted that question at them a couple weeks ago, walshy said he has a new pc now and would be ready for it. Wheat didn't reply at all.
He will be on when we can get the schedule worked out. October is a busy month and Walshy is a busy guy! Plus, I have to schedule when to have my manny/peti for that episode. Possibly a brazilian wax if I'm feeling saucy.
DEMU! Watching him on Rotterdam's show a few months ago was hilarious (placement matches on a new account with nuke rushes). Can't wait to see more shenanigans from him.
am i missing something or are the VoD's for the past several weeks worth of KoT not available yet? I can't watch it live, so I rely on VoD's to get my fix.
They are usually slow to get onto the most accessible archives. You have to go to http://www.twitch.tv/onemoregametv to find the most recent episodes. enjoy
Long time listener, first time caller. Can you ask Nik "The Carny" Lentz if he could see SC2 and MMA combining into a super sport, like chessboxing? It could be epic, play 5 minutes of sc2, pause, do a 5minute round in the octagon, etc. I guess it might be really hard to get the gloves on and off to play sc2.
I feel like I should post this in the incontrol fan club. An event he could win, etc.

im not usually someone who watches this show (I do watch Lo3 and ITG) but Nik Lentz is on? Fuck yeah! Watching the first hour from work, and will catch the rest later.
MMA is the greatest sport in the world and SC2 is the best esport, my two favorite passions all in one. awwwwwwwwwww yeahhhhh!!

Perfection.
Vods finally went up today.
About halfway through.
Hilarious.
>_<
(I demand a Gordon Heyward vs. Nik Lentz showmatch.)
Ok the time has come. Can we finally get Kiwikaki on KoT PLEASE?! We don't get to see much of him (probably on purpose) but come one wack, I know you can sweet talk Kiwi!
Trying to make a page for this show on Liquipedia, but I'm lacking information for who the guests were in the first 8 episodes. I'm also aware that a lot of the dates probably are wrong.
If you could stop by here and add anything, that'd be nice.
Also, I love that you're having Snute on right now. Representing Norway!

Check out the information in the Original Post from djWHEAT ("BETA EPISODES"). At least you'll have the name of the first seven guests.

Ah yeah, missed that. Still need dates though. I'm pretty certain a lot of the dates for the episodes from 20 and up I've written down are wrong, as I just added a week between each episode.
EDIT: Added the first seven episodes, eight episode is still unknown to me, and seventh doesn't have VODs. I think dates are correct, but not certain.

We actually got a lot of really positive feedback on the show. People have been begging for us to do more. So there is a strong chance we will do something with LoL in the future in some kind of capacity.
As someone who doesn't play LoL, I actually enjoyed yesterday's show. It went on a bit long, but it was very entertaining. Destiny and DJWheat work well together, HuK added a ton of humor, and Wacksteven is actually good at LoL. Compared to the few times I've seen Mia Rose, it appeared she sort of came out of her shell a bit more than usual and added a bunch to the entertainment.
I really enjoy the show guys. But one bit of feedback that i will give is that there seems to be so many different sites that hold the VODs but not all of them have the most up to date VODs.
I guess the biggest problem with this is that when you search for kings of tin in google it returns blip and onemoregame.tv as the top entries (at least for me) but they dont seem to be the most up to date ones.
My suggestion is that you either upfate all the different sites, or somehow place a link on those sites to the correct site (twitch?)

Hey, RiSky here, very sorry about the accusation of the streamcheating, it looked like from my vision that he just pre-split before he saw the banelings, which is of course not true as wheat did check the replay. Hope you guys had fun! :D
just watched the king of the hill vod and really liked it
a really cool modifier would be you have to rally all your units to the enemy base and you arent allowed to micro, so the game will be kind of a 1v1 tower defense.
