Since one Code A spot will also open up because of this, does that mean that there will be one more Code A player from the qualifiers (or even foreigner invites)?
Well, hopefully the good Maka shows up and wins (I'm convinced that there are 2 Makas and that one is creative and solid while the other is absolutely terrible).

Probably wanted to prove he could still play considering his Group match losses
actually if you think about it. who would leenock play if lifeforever quit? he can't just get a by into code S, that would be unfair for the other ppl. So how would they determine who he should play against? some random code A player? Seems unfair as everyone else had to face code S players. Now that liveforever beat leenock, there can be a legitimate battle between code A players to who have all lost twice to try win that spot.
Really want Leenock to get in. He has been a bit dissapointing recently, but ever since i saw his games vs Clide he has been one of the players i always keep an eye on. He absolutely blew me away in those games.
I'm hoping for another zerg player. While T isn't that bad to watch and they can have pretty epic TvTs, there's just too many...
Also, while Code S is at it, why don't they drop sanZenith. sanZenith doesn't care and doesn't play it professionally. They should get players who are serious about the game and want to win.

He didn't decide. He got his service letter so he has to go. Also, he stated in an interview that he had left ZeNEX, was unmotivated/didn't want to play the game, didn't practice, and definitely didn't expect to beat Leenock.

Because he is better than most of players who are serious about the game?
Lets not be too quick to proclaim Leenock as the most qualified to go through. He lacks simple understanding of the ZvT match up at times, as seen in his tendency to over drone constantly and refusal to make a baneling nest until 15 minutes into the game.

Not really, he only had to beat LegalMind to stay in Code S in a best of 3. That doesn't mean he's better than most players or that he's Code S quality, it means he's better than one player who is of Code A skill. And LegalMind might even drop out of Code A next GSL - I wouldn't be surprised. If sanZenith was in Code A next GSL, I'd expect him to drop out of it as well, and be glad of it, so he can get on with something he wants to do and give someone else a chance at the championship.
regardless of the specifics of the timing my opinion of liveforever has improved a lot.
though you will never read this liveforever, you are (whether you have chosen to or not) doing a great thing giving leenock an opportunity to rectify his mistakes. I hope you stay safe while in the military and if you ever feel like returning I hope you are successful.
Honestly; any of the players are capable of winning this and getting Code S. I'd prefer to see Maka take it; but I have a sneaking suspicion that Rain will get it.
No one out of any of these players is going to have a substantial impact in code S. Some of them have the potential to reach Ro16, but with the way they've been playing lately, it's pretty safe to generalize that they all deserve to be around the Up/Down matches and no further than Ro32 Code S.
Maka, Leenock or cezanne, those players have shown great promise, and skill, I hope one of them makes it, as all 3 imo would be the best code s players. Rain, joookto, moon, have not shown any unique skillsets or talents that deserve a coder s rating, I will be rooting for maka, leenock or cezanne.
Really too bad for liveforever, hopefully with his baller gamertag he will "Liveforever" even though he will serve some military service!!!
I didn't see anyone mention this but I'm pretty sure these aren't going to be cast live, but rather replay-cast by Gisado during his normal KOTH time. Not 100% sure but maybe like 90%
Moon or Cezanne will advance. Maka is really overrated now. He was good in early stages of the game when players didn't knew how to defend against well microed timing pushes. He has shown poor games lately.

More like he got to the pro bowl haha. MVP won the super bowl

He got to code S by accident and he only played one season tbh.
I think Leenock will make it, but Cezanne has a chance too. I don't believe Maka can make it, he played pretty poorly lately. He has a chance if he can get out of his slump though.

go watch Makas games in the Gisado team invitational right before this GSL. He played superb against FD and others. Really, Maka has shown some amazing games recently. He also went for mass Ravens in a TvZ cross positions Metalopolis against FD or an oGs Zerg, can't remember and won. This game was easily one of the most epic games in 2011.
PoltPrime.WE Nothing special. Next~ JookTojung Just average. Next~ FOXMoon Baneling fail. That is all. oGsCezanne Dunno about this guy. Never actually seen him play. TSL.Rain This guy doesn't even deserve to be in the GSL. Next~ MakaPrime.WE Probably one of the most deserving, other guy being LeenockfOu. LeenockfOu Probably deserves Code S. Didn't see him play that much though. LegalMindZenith LegalMind... lol... -_-
I have a really good feeling about Cezanne. He's had some really solid play for most of Code A until Scfou, and hey, nestea didn't spread creep until gsl2. Moon I want to see succeed, but he just hasn't seemed to make very many good decisions at all. Were there any Code A games where he absolutely crushed?
And Rain at least deserves to be in the GSL more than bitbybit/legalmind lol
I also don't get what all the fuss is about Leenock. Is he Tastosis's new Clide or something?
Would like to see LeenockfOu amongst the Code S pros. Still he's quite young so i guess he'll continue evolving and sooner or later he'll take his spot as one of the top Zergs.

I think Military services is pretty mandatory in Korea, so I dont think he was like "I'm gonna go to the army" but more like he was called in for military service
Wow, talk about a wild turkey tournament. I don't suppose he was just called in for military service just now? Otherwise I have a hard time imagining why he would even want to compete in the Up/Down matches. I don't recall that you earned money from winning one of those matches.
Exciting to see who will become a Code S player, since this is pretty much a second chance for all of the players before having to wait for another month or two to get up into the Up/Down matches. LeenockfOu seemed to perform exceptionally very well in the matches, followed by oGsCezanne and MakaPrime simply out of his past performance. FOXMoon needs a bit of work before he can get into Code S, I do simply love his creep spread though.
I like how people are saying that Leenock deserves to move on for his excellent play and stuff now when the last thread was bogged down with hundreds of posts about how shitty his performance was in the up and down matches. Leenock has performed well in the past but in his most recent matches he got smoked.
Maka has a couple of really specific problems with his play. If he fixed them he would be a much stronger player. Realistically several of these guys could go through. I'm not prepared to say that one of them deserves it any more than the others.
Edit: Also I am sad. :---( Thank you for making the ^+v matches awesome. Live forever.
Leenock provided some entertaining games, but he hasn't really demonstrated to be a solid, consistent player. Not that the other candidates have either, but there's little reason to consider him overwhelmingly the most deserving player.

This. He probably figured he got lucky to get into Code S with Leenock blowing the games and he probably thought he would get eaten alive, so might as well start his two year mandatory military service.

"Well I got lucky, and I dont need those 1500$, so I'll throw them away and go to the military now instead of in 6-12months (dont know how often they draft people)"
Seems really unlikely to me. Anyone knows more about the mandatory military service? Do you have to request to take part later? Or do you just show up when you feel like it?

He could've waited until he actually got demoted to Code A to start his military service and win some good money, but he chose not to.

You generally decide when you start your military service. If you have been residing in Korea, I believe you just have to do it sometime before when you are at a certain age (late 20's, but don't quote me on that). Some people do it right after high school and some do it during or after university.

OGSTheSTC has been in service/playing SC2 in his spare time, which is why he hasn't been in GSL quals.
Anyone know if there will be an English stream or not? If no English, will I be able to get onto the Korean stream from gomtv.net or do I need another link?
When Maka has his shit together, I think he's the best of these guys, but sometimes his decision making is awful. The way he went out of GSL 1 was just so disappointing, trying to cheese when he was a far better macro player than LiveForever and up a game at that. And how he dropped down to Code A was just embarrassing. It's hard to imagine how he plays so brilliantly at other times. I think Leenock or Cezanne is going to take this, though Polt or Rain cheesing them out is not out of the question.
Sorry, Moon, you're just not solid enough... YET another season in Code A will do you wonders compared to getting smashed in S. To everyone who shits on Rain, go watch any of his other games and you'll realize it took more than just luck to become a finalist.
Rain has quite an amount of skill, don't toss him away just yet.

edit: IS THIS BEING STREAMED?
It did take luck if he didn't get that lucky EMP on Squirtle's Sentries he would of lost in round of 16. Getting Hongun for a Semi opponent? Lucky as heck.
Maka, Leenock, or Cezanne would be good in my opinion. I want to say Moon as well, but I don't feel he's quite at Code S level yet. Hopefully he shows good games in Code A and advances next season!
