The two Korean teams Zenith and NEX have decided to merge and become one team for the future. The new team name is ZeNex (Ze(nith) + NEX). This allows ZeNex to boast having the most qualified players in the GSL Season 2.

I think its kind of interesting that they've decided to merge as one team. This will definitely benefit the members of both teams (creating a greater pool of practice partners). However, I feel like this was primarily done in an attempts to be in closer competition with oGs and Prime, and I feel like they're still behind the aforementioned teams.

I feel like they are still weaker then the top teams, but it was a good decision IMO. More practice partners seemed to be needed since Genius was practicing with Idra in season 1 and had no zergs to play with.

how many pro sc2 teams (in korea) are there?
i reckon, in a year or two, there'll be 4-6 left as everyones gonna merge with everybody
|
probably a good choice but still weaker than prime and ogs

Numbers bah look at TSL. lol jk
I like the name of the new team. ZeNex :D

To my knowledge: oGs, Prime, TSL, Startale and ZeNex
I think I'm missing one or two.

Zenith have trash players so I'm not surprised.
Still the Jaedong OZ of Korean SC2 (except replace Jaedong with Genius).

Ah yes WeRRa was the big one i knew i was missing. Never heard of IM and I thought fou was a really old BW clan. Who's on their SC2 roster?

I thought Zenith was originally an amateur clan anyway?

Yay practice partners. Hope this works for them, but with some of the better people forming teams, I'm not sure if they'll be able to keep up in the future. Hope they do though!

I think it depends on how you'd go about defining a "pro team." I think most of the "teams" in Korea are really clans. Zenith and NEX were clans, so I guess I should've said clan so thats my fault. Its kind of hard to distinguish because most teams don't have established sponsors, which you could say is the main difference between pro and amateur teams, but some clans (like oGs and Prime) have gone as far as to get practice houses which kind of makes it confusing as to whether you'd consider them a clan or pro team. Technically the only "pro team" is TSL because of their sponsorship status. Another thing that distorts the status of teams/clans are teams like StarTale and Incredible Miracle which were specifically created to become a "pro team." However, I feel like oGs and Prime are trying to do the same, even though you could say they were originally clans? So, its hard to say.
However, the other thing you have to consider is that there were "pro teams" in BW that started out without sponsors too, or became sponsorless and continued to exist without sponsors. For example, The Greatest One, which later became sponsored by SUMA, and then got dropped and returned to being GO. GO was then eventually picked up by CJ and became CJ Entus. Another team would be Ideal Space (or IS), which later became KTEC Plus, then Plus, then Lecaf OZ, then Hwaesung OZ.
It'll be way easier to distinguish once the SC2 pro scene develops more, with more teams/sponsors/etc.

eh, I suppose both zenith and nex are lacking good players, but this way they get a deeper lineup
