There are hostels in any major city in the world, I know for a fact there are numerous in Seoul because I looked a couple of days ago for my post uni freakout. But yeah staying anywhere for 30 days is gonna cost you.

Maybe there won't be as many foreigners going to Korea next month as I would like, but I'm still really hoping for a much more significant showing . There seems to be some interest here even from the guys who aren't super high-level, so that's a promising start at least...

when i get there, in a few months, i will look into (perhaps w/ tasteless' and artosis' help) trying to find an affordable way for people to planepool and hotelpool (lol coined two new words) and find an affordable package for a month long trip to korea. perhaps gomtv will be willing to help subsidize certain things (like lodging expenses with a hotel in exchange for advertisement and LOTS of business from foreigners).

what kind of price would people see as reasonable to spend for 30 days in seoul? all included (tickets, hotel, food, partying, etc)? $3000? could people afford that? am i coming in too low?

For the most part, gamers in NA/EU don't really consider gaming as a viable full-time gig, unlike Koreans. Sure there are a handful of foreign guys on teams with sponsors, but is a sponsor going to invest 3k+ to send someone that might not even make it past the qualifying rounds? That's a huge risk. This makes it hard for top level NA/EU guys to justify the trip to Korea. Moreover, most of the top NA/EU players either go to school, have other jobs etc, so it's unlikely we'll see any top foreigners participating in the GSL.

Of course I'd like to see more foreigners, I just don't see it happening.

A NA/EU based tournament similar to the GSL would be ideal, but there just isn't as much interest in E-Sports here to make that happen, unfortunately.

At least we have the ESL and MLG to look forward to.

probably because if you look @ current GSL, that's a 1/2000 chance for the 87k.

in my deep concern, i still think NA/EU players dont have a single chance againts Korean pros.
With the addition of JulyZerg and Nada and far more players opting to play next season, the hope of foreginer players bringing the trophy home from far land seems very unlikely.
These Koreans play 10+ hours of sc2 each day, compared to foreginers where we have school to deal with.

Investing 4k + to stay there for 2 months period doesnt seem legitimate.
maybe only foreginer i would think that have chace right now is... MuRRoW. he seems to be the most consistent Terran.

This is a good idea. Alot of pro poker players do/did this, they rent a place in Las Vegas (or Thailand if ur less successful) or wherever and just play poker 24/7.

If i could afford it. oh well. staying in school it is. if you are a foreigner seasons 1-4 are the times to get in. if you don't you REALLY won't be able to afford to get in starting in january. since you have to earn your way up even past prelims. so you would spend months in korea to have a shot at the prize money.
