So like anyone who has nothing better to do on a Sunday night before class, I just surf the web and check on the latest news (world, gaming or what ever else you do). While I was checking on my esports news I stumbled upon some of the IEM European qualifiers that have been going on (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and etc.) and eventually was lead to this page on the Intel Extreme Masters site.

http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season5/europe_sc2_nq/#/masters/season5/europe_sc2_nq/

It has the list of all the players that have qualified for the European Championship and it also says which one of them have to go through qualifying rounds before getting into the EU Championship. So I'll just go ahead and list them here.

Please note that I might have some of the flags or race wrong. Chances are I forgot a player as well. If you see a mistake don't panic just post it and I'll fix it. About the race, I do not know all of these players but I found out about most of them through GosuGamers, VODs and the ESL replays of them.

I do not work for ESL but since I opened this thread I might as well help out if anyone has trouble understanding anything. Some of you might probably wonder WTF the qualification rounds are for. Basically, due to the skill level between some of these countries ("rankings"), they presume that for some players it's much easier to qualify then others. So they give out less slots and also make them work harder to get in to the European Championship, which is where they want to be.

WTF is qualification round 1+2?
+ Show Spoiler +

http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season5/europe_sc2_nq/#/masters/season5/europe_sc2_qr/

- The Qualification Round 1 is the first round for international competition. The national representants are decided through National Cups and as they go in to the Qualification Round 1 (QR1), everything is at stake to first move on to QR2, and the goal: the European Championship.

- The last battle that 24 players take on is the Qualification Round 2. Half of them are known from the National Ranking, while the other eighteen comes from QR1. Winners here head in to the European Championship of Intel Extreme Masters season 5.

The European Championship will work similar to the American one. Players will go through best-of-3 round robin group stages. Top player advances to the European Championship LAN finals. I think they make #2 play against #3 from a different group to determine who else goes I kinda forgot about this part.

Why were so many Terran invited?
They were not invited. They qualified.

Why are there so many Terran?
I don't know and I don't care.

Terran?
NO!

I count 6 zergs. You made a mistake, there must be more?
-_-" No. Well maybe.
UPDATE #1: Yes I did make a mistake. Ourk is not Zerg. He plays Terran.

MorroW already qualified for the global finals, why is he there?
Money, sex and glory.

No TLO? WHAT!
He did not play in the qualifiers.

Why no Koreans?
It's the Intel Extreme Master European Championship. You figure it out.

How were these seeds determined?
Important thing to know is that ESL seeds by country and not player. They have a ranking to decide that which can be found here - http://www.esl-world.net/masters/country_ranking_season_5/

Is that the real Draco?
Yes. That is [image loading] Krzysztof "Draco" Nalepka himself.

Is SaJer LucifroN?
No. He just happens to be a Terran player who is also from Spain who plays for Team Wizards.

The first thread I have ever created on TL.net. Hopefully it's a good one and I look forward to contributing more to this community. I know some of you will be shocked after seeing the all the players that qualify but please try not to derail the thread into a flame wars and have it closed.

first of all, thanks for the write-up, the esl rules had me confused for a while, and their site is a mess to navigate on.

Second: lolled hard at the skyhigh comment :')

And yes, that is a shit-ton of terran's. And it makes me kind of sad as a zerg.

In the currently qualified we have 2 zerg's in total. None in the first round
And 3 in the second round.

I have never heard of these guys in the second round before, and seeing that they have to win there, and then go trough a 24 player field with a lot of strong names I really don't expect any of them to actually qualify.

So that means that the zerg hope of getting a good place for a zerg in IEM is basicly on the back of dimaga (<3 dimaga, hope you do well).

For the rest, ugh, this is not good for sc2 (and yes I don't care what the reason is, for all I care all the EU p&z sucks, and the T's are really just that good), going into a big event like this, having a PvT now and then with some minor PvP/ZvT/ZvP (wich will only be a couple of games) and then 80% of the other games being a TvT mirror will be extremely boring imo.

Holy shit, there are far too many Terran players.

This is how every tournament looks in europe right now. Top 8 is generally made up of only terrans with the exception of DIMAGA and Socke who sometimes manages to place high.

After a while of following the EU scene you get kinda fed up with TvT's.

There is alot of really strong terrans in europe and they are dominating right now.

oh man, devastating results in the Austrian qualifier, despite winning the winner's bracket, bioboyAT was unable to defeat xEi in the grand finals. Terrible news as I've heard that bioboyAT rocks!

As a side note, I feel like I want to take Russia and Norway aside and have a pep talk, what happened guys? You're the land of so many BW and War3 greats, but I only see a couple of names i recognize in the qualifier brackets, tell those kids to start playing
