Amazing interview, gives me a good vibe for the future. Makes me really happy to see you guys aren't afraid to bring in outside support like Hot_Bid to help ref and cover that side of things, too :D

I'm excited to watch you play. I think I saw in one of the threads that you said you'd be "in shape" for this tournament. Pretty sure you said something like that, but if not, sorry for putting words in your mouth.
Weird, last time I checked the UN said you need to have at least 200 APM and be rainbow league to be called human. —Liquid`TLO

Sorry bout the length folks. There were some good questions that deserved detailed responses.

You definitely don't need to apologize. It's great to see such in depth answers. It's also good to see a large scale event that puts such thought into the smaller details of actually running a tournament. It's one thing for an organization such as TL to have a well run SC tournament, but it's reassuring to a multi-game organization to seek out help and administrators from people who know the game and have run tournaments before. While the tournament has yet to happen, I have confidence after reading this interview that you guys have put the pieces in place to allow the event to succeed.

Great interview, really made me more excited about MLG. Not just the tournament, but theyre potential to expand eSports. They atleast sound like they know what theyre doing and sincerely have a love for the game/community (incl. bw and other titles) and not just riding the popularity of a new game.

The willingness to interact and learn from the community is great. To be honest here, I wasn't too impressed by the WoW events I seen briefly. I think drawing from SC and TL's years of exposure to refined professional BW broadcasts is going to be productive.

Great read. The responses generally felt honest as opposed to the forced responses that often come out of organizations like this.

Also, there's no such thing as too long of an interview on TL, since anyone that tries to be witty and say "wall of text, tl;dr" gets mocked mercilessly.

Awesome interview, it's rare to see administrators like Lee Chen give large detail in their answers when being questioned.

Holy wall-of-text Lee.

Can't believe Raleigh is only a few days away! For a lot of us PC guys that couldn't handle a console controller to save our lives, this is seriously a moment that's been building up for at least two years. Every single person that is and has been involved with putting on this tournament is a diehard gamer that want to put on the best events you've ever seen. We're also all gigantic nerds, and anyone (Adam) who says otherwise is in denial.

Obviously my opinion of the guy could easily be perceived as biased, but Lee has always been one of the most straightforward, no B.S. people that I've ever known in this industry. He'll listen when you let us know we screwed up, and not only address the issue but often explains why and how it happened.

If you're coming to Raleigh, he'll be the short Asian walking around very quickly with a walkie talkie, a clipboard, and some sort of close-quarters melee weapon for use on inefficient staff.

Yeah i totally agree. Its super nice to see a quality question and answer from an administrator. I really liked the questions and i think we nailed down some of the loose ends heading into MLG. All i know is that im super excited to watch Instict 3-peat and to watch some badass SC2 action.

I had no idea MLG sponsored the King of the Hill Tournament. I thought only Razer sponsored it.

I think you are thinking of a different tournament. Day[9]'s "King of the Beta" tournament was sponsored by Razer, but that was a different tournament.

Great stuff, can't wait to see the games. Probably going to buy the HD stream. Thanks MLG!

What a great interview! I really like that MLG donates the time of such important people like its administrators to take part in interviews for the communities that it's trying to cater to and impress - that shows real dedication!

I never doubted it, but after reading this interview (please don't apologize about the length - its depth was what made it outstanding), it's plain to see that the MLG staff really has a passion for what it is doing, as well as an intimate knowledge of how to run a tournament and make it available to amateurs and professionals alike. With these factors, combined with an excellent invitee list, a large number of open-registrations, live streams, fantastic commentators, a large prize pool, and MLG, Blizzard, and TeamLiquid's commitment to the event, I'm positive that MLG Raleigh will help make history for StarCraft 2. Hopefully this event will help usher in the blooming of e-sports in America! This tournament is going to be awesome, and I can't wait to see the results!

Safe travels to everyone headed to Raleigh, and for those playing, GL HF!
