I was planning on making a podcast with my mates, but the biggest issue we are having at this point is recording softwares. What do StoG and/or other people use? What can people recommend that is free and good quality?

You can't complain about getting free entertainment, and I doubt JP playing WoW is the only reason why there hasn't been a podcast recently. If they have to take a break then let them, it's not the end of the world.
The YoGpod only updates every couple months and I'm fine with it, you can only complain if you're paying for something and getting nothing out of it.

It says it's being transcribed, so if he can't be bothered to read all of it then it's too long and he simply won't take the call. I personally think it's awesome to add another level of potential stupidity and something else for inc to make fun of them for when he rants.

It's actually a Google Voice feature that automatically transcribes calls without anyone even having to listen to it so it's pretty efficient. Use the transcribed versions to filter out the good calls and then play those on the show.

I listened to all the episodes backwards in time and finally got to episode 1, but I cannot download it properly, download always stop in between 4 and 12 KB. Is this my fault or does anyone else have similar problem?

Guys you can't rush things, I'm sure SotG will return better than ever when it does come back. Obviously JP has other things to do, as do the other hosts and guests.
That said, I too am suffering SotG withdrawal : < I can barely stand the week between casts, this wait is painful.

I think there is some big MLG news or something similar that is close to breaking and that is why we are having to suffer without any new SotG
