- Event Description - RAGEQUIT.tv is announcing the "48 Hours for Minerals" cast. For 48 hours, starting on Friday, August 20th @ 4PM EDT RAGEQUIT.tv will begin streaming with Abyss and Sheekthief. Throughout the 48 hours, various casters will join and leave - but the stream will remain up (provided brief outages in case of camera switching).
Throughout this 48 hours, we will be casting various Starcraft 2 games, including show matches, tournament matches, interviews, and pretty much anything that the viewers want to see, or the players want to play. We will be attempting to cast any events that occur in an overlapping time, provided the event organizers let us. We will start out on the US server, but may switch over to the EU server during time zones that prefer it.
Now, some would ask why are we doing this? Charity of course! 48 Hours for Minerals is a fundraiser for Child's Play, a non-profit organization which has donated over 5 million dollars in toys, books, and games for kids in hospitals across the States and Europe. Throughout the entire event, we will be asking for donations towards Child's Play. A link to donate will be provided on our website, as well as a tracker of all the money donated so far.
- RAGEQUIT.tv Casters - These are the confirmed casters that will join us throughout the event.
Abyss + Show Spoiler [Picture] +Sheekthief + Show Spoiler [Picture] +Ipp + Show Spoiler [Picture] +prodiG + Show Spoiler [Picture] +Wolf + Show Spoiler [Picture] +Atticus + Show Spoiler [Picture] +TheGunrun + Show Spoiler [Picture] +Stropheum+ Show Spoiler [Picture] +Myrathi+ Show Spoiler [Picture] + Other casters have been invited and may join impromptu to hang out during the event. If you're a caster, feel free to contact us (information below) if you're interested in helping out.
- Contact us - If you're interested in playing showmatches, or have something to cast, join our IRC (QuakeNet #ragequit.tv or webchat here) and tell us there. We will try to accept people/ideas that the viewers would enjoy to make it the most fun for them. If it is during the event, the above IRC is prefered since ustream's chat will probably be flooded.
- Additonal Information - That's it, for now. This post will be expanded and updated as we fill in more details. Banner logo and link to donation page as well as info posted on our website will be added soon.
Comment on the event below, invite your friends, tweet about us!

Someone is going to one-up Raelcun, I hope? :p This sounds awesome, I'll be tuning in.

loool is this a picture of the guy who does the wolf cup?
![[image loading]](http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32356/rqtv.staff/Wolf.jpg) he sounds so nice and friendly on livestream, but his picture is scary =(
|
I can't believe you actually used that picture... Hahah
|
You all better tune in and donate money to our event, or Wolf will haunt you.
|
TheGunrun officially accepted an invite to cast, and has been added.
Guys, I'm so pumped for this event. I hope we can raise a ton of money :D

No interest in "one-up"ing him, in fact his cast inspired this. If you were there you might recall the discussion to do a similar event for charity. This is, in fact, my attempt at that.
I'm also trying to invite Raelcun to cast with us some time, since he inspired this - but he's bm and never responds on MSN, so I'll have to try again some other day
Raelcun: If you're reading this, get a hold of me. You're also officially invited.
|
Wait, wait, wait. TheGunRun is asian? Anyways, sounds pretty awesome. You should get some KOTH in that 48 hours as well.
|
<3 wolf and all his scary self xD
|
I'm down to provide a camera or help out with the cast if need be. I was planning on doing another 4v4 iCCup Fun Stream on Friday night, but we will hold it off until next week. Child's Play is a great charity and I am definitely down to assist in any way that I can.
|
wow that's cool stuff good luck running this!
|
I won't be able to participate until Saturday, but I'll hop on Skype or Vent or whatever to help out if you guys want. =)

I don't think the picture is actually him, but I don't know
JoshSuth, FuriousJodo, Raelcun: You guys should all jump into our IRC sometime (#ragequit.tv on QuakeNet) and get my MSN/AIM and hang out during the event. The help will definitely be appreciated, and those will be the main contact between streamers as we are figuring things out. We have 48 hours to cover, so I'm pretty sure there's going to be room for plenty of streamers.
To everyone: Thanks to Eric from SC2Overseer, we have a new event idea. I will be starting a list of times for some key events throughout the cast starting today, the times will be filled in as things are final. Expect that later tonight.
Thanks for the support guys, I really appreciate it.

It is listed on the calendar, however it's listed under Saturday if you have your time set to KST (since 4pm EDT is 5AM the next day, in Korea).
There was originally a mistake on it getting listed in the calendar, due to a fault of mine. It has been fixed.
Guys, this is going to be awesome. Can't wait ^.^

Unfortunately this is the only weekend that all of us will be available for quite some time. Thankfully, IEM won't be going on for the full 48 hours.

Heh, so we're doing a lot of planning for this event, and it was just confirmed, we WILL be casting the Minerva Invictus tournament during our event.
We're also planning on opening up with CraftCup on the EU server, at 4pm EDT sharp!
EDIT: Oh, and not confirmed, but we might have an extremely, very special star, for some of the time. Maybe.

You are more than welcome to join but Abyss doesn't plan on sleeping! I want to stay up for the entire thing but my IQ goes down to Zergling level after 24 hours.
I think the best way to get in is sit in #Ragequit.TV on irc.quakenet.org, if you don't have an IRC Client; ragequit.tv does have a link to a web version of the chat.

OK GUYS. 2 Hours til we start!
Donations are on www.RAGEQUIT.tv front page! All donations go -DIRECTLY- to Child's Play. I only get notice of who/how much and time/email. That's it.
We've broken $100 before we even started. I love you guys.
And we will do a couple open KOTHs probably. We have a system on our website to start KOTH's on the fly, with signups and a queue right on our website!

can you guys cast a game instead of whatever you guys are doing please.
|
On August 21 2010 16:20 Neoattitude wrote: can you guys cast a game instead of whatever you guys are doing please.
We are trying to cast as many games as possible. Since this is a tournament currently that we are following, sometimes we have to wait for inbetween games for brackets to get updated and players to prepare. Just be patient and wait on us, please.
However, once this tournament is over we will go back to playing showmatches and KOTHs, and it'll probably jump quickly between games.

We are half way over and have raised a total of $2,223 for Childs Play! If you have any idea with how to fill the next 24 hours let us know.

Hey Abyss and Sheekthief, Grizzly here! Absolutely fantastic job you guys have done with Ragequit.tv, and raising money for Child's Play is the best idea you've had so far. If you ever need any help, I'll be on Skype a lot more now that school is starting and I'll be working less.

We've less than an hour to go before we hit the 48h mark and I have to say: absolutely brilliant turn-out from everyone and the support via showgames and just hanging out by a lot of well-known names has just re-enforced how awesome this community can be!
As of 47h:15m point, we actually broke yet another milestone and are astounded at peoples' generosity...
Current donations: $4,225!! :O

Sadly, you don't get to see it live. However, I will be doing it, and including it in a big package of:

It will include me shaving my head, Siraz shaving his head, Ipp dancing, and all of our singing performances.
Lol. Expect it in the next couple things.

Good cause(because giving lazy poor kids video games instead of teaching them life skills or how to get a job/food is a good cause.....maybe to you high middle class kids in cali this seems good) but why would a gay guy, and a kid with a speech impediment want to do vocal stuff like shout casting.... just to prove they can? I wouldn't care as much if they knew what they were talking about.

Not gonna attack you. Just pointing out that the Child's Play charity gives video games to kids in hospitals, mostly kids who are terminal, if I understand correctly. So, teaching a kid a life skill when he's gonna die in maybe 2 months seems like even less of a good cause. Meh, just my opinion. I think it's a good cause, but that's coming from a gamer. I enjoy video games and if I were 10 years old and about to die, my last wish would probably be to spend what little time I had left playing video games I normally couldn't have.
Just my opinion, of course.
As for the casters, they're working really hard to help what they believe to be a good cause. Sure, they could do things better, but that's true for everyone and anyone. If you don't like their cast, don't watch. There's plenty of other things to watch, or you could simply go play some games. Up to you.
Pointing out again that this isn't an attack, I agree with you on some basis. Just no reason to bm guys who're doing what they can for what they want.
|

No one's forcing you to watch the stream. A simple google search will show you the charity works with kids in 60 or so hospitals. And who cares if they have a speech impediment or that they're gay? If they enjoy casting then more power to them. I only watched the stream for about five minutes but your post and childish signature only point to you being an immature, angry kid.
|

Whats wrong with a speech impediment or being gay? They do it because they enjoy it. And Child's Play is a great charity. Why the hell would you be a dick about giving to charity?

We ended up going for a total of just over 57 hours. There was a bit of a rough patch during the transition from Ipp to me, but aside from that it went very smoothly.
Props to: Myrathi for handling the logistics and chat moderation for 98% of the cast ICCup Map Team for the great maps we used Abyss for getting this whole thing organized Wolf, Tesla, and Stropheum (Storpheum?) for casting with us Sheek, Ipp, and Abyss as primary casters Myrathi and myself as secondary casters All the viewers who donated Catreina and Tesla for organizing Minvera Invictus All the players who joined us for some random matches Everyone who participated in random matches
Special thanks to everyone I missed because I fell asleep and don't know the entire list of people that showed up!
Also note that RQTV plans to have charity casts every other month, so we will be doing this again!

rofl.
Also LOL @ someone saying "The guy with the speech impediment and the gay guy" - that speech impediment is loved by 90% of the viewers - and I have a feeling you're just judging someone as "gay" based on their voice, throughout the entire event no one discussed their sexual preferences.
Anyways, just an update. I should be getting my hair removed today sometime. I will try to make enough time to do the entire package of everything included, so keep an eye out today and tomorrow.
Also, Ipp is currently in the brainstorming phase of a charity event once monthly which will resemble the structure of this event. Keep an eye out for us. All the information will be posted on our website/here as we figure it out.

Consider me part of the 10% then. The speech impediment is REALLY annoying for me and is ruining my experience and has driven me to watching the SC2casts Invitational. Some people may like it, fine, but that's my feedback.
