Mu counter is a basic program to know your win ratio per match-up - Current version : 1.1.6 you can always download it here : https://sourceforge.net/projects/mucounter/files/
### VERSION 1.1.6 Note : ##
- added custom/ladder filter - added a filter by patch - added code modularity (like anyone here cares) - added some safety nets to avoid crashiwhen using button in wrong order... - sort name by alphabetical order in the filter windows - removed debug console information
First, note that this program is (still) not that stable : We are aware of some issues so if you have some issue try to follow this simple steps !
0 > download it in here : https://sourceforge.net/projects/mucounter/files/ (mu_counter-win32-vX.X.X.zip) 1 > run the program. 2 > Write your nick on the top blank. 3 > choose your directory via the "browse directory" button. 4 > press the "process".
AFTER THAT, you can press the "change map pool" or "change adversary pool" button in order to filter the replay and get more specific statistics.
you can filter the result by map Pool (only count specific maps), by adversary pool (basically if you wanna know your result against a specific friend or remove some specific adversary), by game type (custom or ladder), by patch (since I didn't find the date anywhere...)
* Windows * We are on Windows (32-bits version) but users report that it works on every windows system (Xp/Vista/Seven-32/64bits).
* Linux * I tried it myself on a Linux (Ubuntu Lucid) through WINE and it 'worked'. I mean everything seems to work except the browse directory thing. Basically, you must place the program DIRECTLY INTO THE REPLAY FOLDER and just let the '.' into the field aside the "browse directory" button. DO NOT CLICK ON THE BROWSE BUTTON, it mess up the whole thing up.
* mac * I have finally find someone with a mac, and the program seems to launch via crossover after 10 seconds (which is basically WINE for mac) but couldn't test anything else (he's not playing sc2) so I'm assuming it's working at least as 'well' as on Linux (it's the same pgm...). here is the tuto page here is the tierce program to download if you don't know anything!
'?' means any race (it's just a sum of other lines). I currently have no way to know if someone was random when he launched the game) (If you wish ? = T+P+Z).
FEATURES we MAY implement in the near future (if we find where the information hold in the replays files): - filter by date and then some graphics to win ratio over time. - filter by game duration.
KNOWN ISSUES - some replay (< 10%) are just wrong. I mean they work (if you run them with sc2), but they seem to have a weird syntax we cannot work out yet (ex : There is 4+ players with no obs on a 1v1 map, or you appear twice with different races). There is not much we can do about it in the near future. - old replays are just not working because the replays files did change during the beta! We won't try to make them work...
If you have some idea to improve this program and it is feasable we will try to do it !
Big Thanks to the sc2gears team for helping us understand the replay format.
Cyanure,
PS : the program is under licence GPL v3, so you can download the source code on sourceforge.net via SVN !

Cool beans. If you get it cleaned up a bit it would work great. It's too bad you aren't going to get the old replays to work That's when I played most of my games. Oh wells, as long as you update it with the new patch after they start the beta again then it's all good.
|
What do you mean by "cleaned up" ? I should probably have remove all the debug messages in the console beforehand...
for the old replays : I just do not know how they work, so it would mean double the work...
|
The current version is working great on Windows 7.
|
Interesting, according to that my mu at the moment is :
TvP : 11 win(s) & 9 loss(es) : 55% TvT : 15 win(s) & 8 loss(es) : 65.217% TvZ : 16 win(s) & 7 loss(es) : 69.565% Tv? : 42 win(s) & 24 loss(es) : 63.636%
|
Backpack > 32bit or 64bit or who the hell cares about bits?
|
TvP : 7 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 77.777% TvT : 8 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 80% TvZ : 4 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 57.142% Tv? : 19 win(s) & 7 loss(es) : 73.076%
Thing to note is most of these are from silver to diamond because my placement matches got messed up and I'm rightfully diamond :V
Edit: Also maybe you should have Phantom BGH off by default because I was p. confused about my rank aha
|
not working for me, but im on windows 7 64 bit and like you said, its not working for it- haha
|
PvP : 8 win(s) & 6 loss(es) : 57.142% PvT : 6 win(s) & 6 loss(es) : 50% PvZ : 6 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 75% Pv? : 20 win(s) & 14 loss(es) : 58.823%
Surprised that I have 50% against terran.. thought I lost like 90% of them.. I wish I didnt delete most of my replays so I could see more accurate stats
|
Didn't realize my PvZ was almost as bad as my PvT. Like really bad lol. I'm a beast at PvP though :D

What's not working for you?
I was able to use the tool fine.

Seems working for me. It doesn't work for 2v2s right? Anyway, my stats
PvP : 3 win(s) & 1 loss(es) : 75% PvT : 1 win(s) & 0 loss(es) : 100% PvZ : 0 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 0% Pv? : 4 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 57.142%
TvP : 9 win(s) & 0 loss(es) : 100% TvT : 13 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 86.666% TvZ : 7 win(s) & 0 loss(es) : 100% Tv? : 29 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 93.548%
ZvP : 2 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 40% ZvT : 6 win(s) & 1 loss(es) : 85.714% ZvZ : 1 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 25% Zv? : 9 win(s) & 7 loss(es) : 56.25%
?vP : 14 win(s) & 4 loss(es) : 77.777% ?vT : 20 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 86.956% ?vZ : 8 win(s) & 5 loss(es) : 61.538% ?v? : 42 win(s) & 12 loss(es) : 77.777%
Does it read all the replays from Patch 1 - 16? Cause I have yet to filter them out lol.
|
As I said in OP, it just doesn't work on old replays. If I remember correctly, replays before patch 13 are just ignored (because they have a wrong format).
|
Awesome program. Really nice to finally see these stats.
Blizzard shouldn't be forcing us to jump through these hoops just to figure out something so basic. We're doing their work for them.
ZvP : 21 win(s) & 13 loss(es) : 61.764% ZvT : 30 win(s) & 11 loss(es) : 73.17% ZvZ : 20 win(s) & 22 loss(es) : 47.619% Zv? : 71 win(s) & 46 loss(es) : 60.683%
Apparently i'm 5-10 on Scrap Station and 14-3 on Steppes of War. I had no idea.
|
People like you who do this stuff for free are what make gaming communities so great.
Thanks for the super awesome program
|
This confirms my suspicions, I suck at ZvT. Great application, would be awesome if this would be combined with sc2gears :3
|
Awesome program! We appreciate it greatly. Too bad my sample size isn't quite high enough.
|
Awesome tool. I really wish blizzard would incorporate something like this into the b.net interface (obviously not as pressing an issue as other b.net features, but it would be nice to eventually have). My matchup stats were about where I thought they would be. The map filter was a little shocking though... I dominated a couple maps in all matchups (LT and kulas ravine) but also did really poor on metalopolis (mainly PvZ), scrap station, and blistering sands. Also did pretty well on incineration zone, which was surprising because I really don't like that map.
Anyway, great work, I look forward to future improvements!

This program is SICK! Thanks a lot Cy for your hard work
edit: i think my random stats are wrong, because i played mainly T, and only maybe around 20 games with random @_@
|
example : ?vP = (you) any race against protoss (him) Pv? = (you) protoss against any race (him) ?v? = (you) any race against any race (him)
? is not random, I have currently no way to know if a player was random when he launched the game
|
looks like the v?(Random i thought at first) is the total of all the matches above. To give you your total win%. Bug or intended?
|
you're right, and it's intended !
|
?v i think just adds P+Z+T .. oh already been said lol
|
Awesome program btw :D
Apparently i have a 70% winrate against terran as zerg. I guess terrans in gold\platinum isn't playing mech rigt then :O
|
ZvP : 107 win(s) & 39 loss(es) : 73.287% ZvT : 85 win(s) & 38 loss(es) : 69.105% ZvZ : 48 win(s) & 24 loss(es) : 66.666% Zv? : 240 win(s) & 101 loss(es) : 70.381%
|
This is pretty cool. I cleared my entire replays folder not too long ago, but I'll definitely use this once SC2 goes retail.
It's funny, because Blizzard probably purposely left out detail in their own score screens because they figure there will be plenty of 3rd party work on it anyways...thought I'd still like to see some more official in-game info.
|
Wow, really nice job, thanks a lot!
And also, agreed, you're doing Blue's work for them!
|
good job, blizz why is this not in game already?

Ok, cool. Thanks for the program :D

Cool program. Thanks. I changed my account name after the latest reset so this was a weekend worth of data. Guess TvT was quite a popular match up.
TvP : 4 win(s) & 1 loss(es) : 80% TvT : 13 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 81.25% TvZ : 5 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 71.428% Tv? : 22 win(s) & 6 loss(es) : 78.571%

That's really awesome!
Day[9] once said : "1 mu, 1 map -> 1 build".
I'd be amazed if Day[9] actually managed to say an arrow pointing rightwards.
|
very nice thanks. I was noting down my matches one by one every time I played a game.
it will make my day.
before beta servers went offline my W/L ratios are like
Z v P : %80 Z v Z : %78 Z v T : % 28
I was in diamond.

Yeah, I win most of my Zerg games Sadly, I delete my older recent replays to help that lag when the list loads on bnet2.0

This actually surprised me alot. My winrate vs protoss is quite terrible, while my ZvT is actually pretty good.
ZvZ: 80% ZvT: 60% ZvP: 53%
Apparently I really need practice vs protoss.

As expected really. Fairly even across the board, with no spectacular win rates in any MU, but worst at Protoss.
I play Random btw.

I did not see that coming.

For random, they are counted but as the race you get afterward... We didn't find how to get if someone was random at the beginning of the game

I'm sure it will be, I mean, wc3 had really nice detailed user profiles for it's ladder and come on, its not like blizzard would go backwards. ...
Let's hope they do T-T

Great program! but there's obviously the huge issue of custom games right now. I can easily tell that this program can't distinguish between custom games and auto-matchmaking games.
No way that I could I have 68% winrate vs toss and 74% vs terran unless one was to count the custom games I play for practice or to help others. I can understand 80% ZvZ though, cause I hardly play any ZvZ in custom games, and know I am good at it. Kinda disappointing results from me and everyone else, cause it doesn't really show any significant trends. (this is at least mostly due to damn custom games)
I guess in the future I can try saving all matchmaking games to a new folder, but it would be hard to me to remember.
There was a program someone wrote to make www.starcraftrankings.com ; that same type of code could be used to detect the results of matchmaking games. Of course this is limited in the sense that it would only work while the server's up and accounts aren't wiped, but it's still important and useful information.

The sourcecode is *almost* compatible with mac, but we would need someone with a mac, some basic programing background, and a lot of will to make mac binaries... And even after that, you'll need Qt to make it work. On Windows, i can just add the ".ddl"s to make it work on any computer. On mac, anyone who wants to use it will have to compile Qt first... and last time someone I know tried, it was a pain (it worked eventually, but it took hours and multiple other libraries installation). If someone know some kind of trick to emulate that...

It actually can't distinguish in his current version [1.0.3] (next most probably will). I couldn't find this information in the first place, if you absolutely need to know it right now, you can check your adversary pool and remove everyone you have practiced with (that is the main use of this feature anyway). It's clearly suboptimal, but it may be slightly better.
btw, next version will come today or tomorrow...

And when he says be very careful, what he really means is that all the data in this thread is completely meaningless for drawing balance conclusions: ie NOT statistically significant.
Let's go ahead and leave balance discussion out of this one. Blizzard has data on thousands (possibly millions?) of games; and, unless we get access to it, we really don't have a leg to stand on.
On the other hand, the code does help identify "leaks" in one's own play if a certain matchup is hurting and you haven't noticed.

This program is truly awesome and really helpful.
I was so sure that my worst mu is PvT, but what do you know 76% win and mirror matches 44%.
|
ZvP : 45 win(s) & 48 loss(es) : 48.387% ZvT : 57 win(s) & 29 loss(es) : 66.279% ZvZ : 49 win(s) & 36 loss(es) : 57.647% Zv? : 151 win(s) & 113 loss(es) : 57.196%
Mine surprised me a bit. I thought my win rate versus Protoss was like 33%. Also I thought I had a higher ZvZ ratio. Oh well ^^
Awesome program =)

thanks, pretty nifty!
loving my zerg ratio
ZvP : 20 win(s) & 12 loss(es) : 62.5% ZvT : 22 win(s) & 10 loss(es) : 68.75% ZvZ : 13 win(s) & 11 loss(es) : 54.166% Zv? : 55 win(s) & 33 loss(es) : 62.5%

Handy program.
You'd think this thing would be implemented into bnet 2.0 by now though, since these statistics were already present in the WC3 profiles.
|
Hey, does this include replays located in subdirectories?
|
Not for now at least
VoodooDog, do you have recent replays in your directory? Did you put the name that you used in-game, with the upper-case characters where needed?
|
As I expected, regardless of slight thinking of imbalance in matchups at different points, all matchups ended up being pretty close to each others:
ZvP : 74 win(s) & 54 loss(es) : 57.812% ZvT : 82 win(s) & 51 loss(es) : 61.654% ZvZ : 113 win(s) & 77 loss(es) : 59.473%
Also shows how much more zergs there has been during beta than other races No wonder, the coolest race obv (!).
Anyhow, the map specific stats really speak its own languages. My worst maps, which I at some points have considered really hard for zerg, kulas being the worst:
ZvP : 6 win(s) & 8 loss(es) : 42.857% ZvT : 2 win(s) & 6 loss(es) : 25% ZvZ : 6 win(s) & 5 loss(es) : 54.545%
Ofc really small sample, but proves a point the crying has at least had its catalysator in reality
Then some other maps just seem incredibly hard for one matchup, and easy for other, such as blistering:
ZvP : 9 win(s) & 13 loss(es) : 40.909% ZvT : 15 win(s) & 2 loss(es) : 88.235% ZvZ : 20 win(s) & 14 loss(es) : 58.823%
Small samples, yet feelings about vP being hard and vT much easier stand correct for this map.
Anyway cool to see stats, thanks for software.

This is pretty sick

So, I've looked for the non-Windows OS and come up with some good news !

It doesn't seem to do so.
ZvP : 10 win(s) & 7 loss(es) : 58.823% ZvT : 12 win(s) & 11 loss(es) : 52.173% ZvZ : 10 win(s) & 7 loss(es) : 58.823% Zv? : 32 win(s) & 25 loss(es) : 56.14%
Apparently I'm better than I thought But then again... 57 games isn't a huge sample, will be cool once we get a couple hundred games down tho.
|
PvP : 14 win(s) & 3 loss(es) : 82.352% PvT : 11 win(s) & 20 loss(es) : 35.483% PvZ : 14 win(s) & 5 loss(es) : 73.684% Pv? : 39 win(s) & 28 loss(es) : 58.208%
this would explain why i hate terran so much : (

Can this be made to work for 2v2? That's what I played almost exclusively during the beta.
|
TvP : 37 win(s) & 17 loss(es) : 68.518% TvT : 27 win(s) & 15 loss(es) : 64.285% TvZ : 34 win(s) & 8 loss(es) : 80.952% Tv? : 98 win(s) & 40 loss(es) : 71.014%
and I thought tvt was my best =(

Hey cool, when was the ladder filter feature added?
My ZvT lost 22% more than my other two matchups' average on ladder. I'd like to know what other people's stats are regarding this in top 20% of platinum/diamond.
What's kind of strange though, is that matchmaker pitted me against protoss 85% more than against terran, and against zerg 85% more than against terran. So instead of a 1 in 3 chance of facing terran, it was more like 1 in 5. No I do not think this had a significant impact on my win ratios though (making one better because they played more).
|
ZvP : 19 win(s) & 6 loss(es) : 76% ZvT : 15 win(s) & 5 loss(es) : 75% ZvZ : 11 win(s) & 7 loss(es) : 61.111% Zv? : 45 win(s) & 18 loss(es) : 71.428%
cool, I knew zvz was my worst, but I didn't expect the other two matchups to be so close. Somehow I have the highest win% on Desert Oasis and the lowest on Scrap Station. That is odd.
Honestly, Blizzard should already have this implemented on bnet. It's unfortunate that this has to come from the community. good work nonetheless~

It was added on June 17 :p

TvP : 23 win(s) & 32 loss(es) : 41.818% TvT : 28 win(s) & 12 loss(es) : 70% TvZ : 17 win(s) & 12 loss(es) : 58.62% Tv? : 68 win(s) & 56 loss(es) : 54.838%
Pretty much exactly as I remembered. I have no idea how to tvp, while my tvt is pretty gosu
Scrap Station was my best map (68%), while I suck big time on Metalopolis (40% with 1-7 in tvp).

I do play 2v2 quite a lot more than 1v1, but as it seems, I didn't care so much about my win ratio per matchup in 2v2. Would you really want a 256 line table with approximately 0 game on each line ?

very nice program! Has something similar in BW?
|
does this still work in phase 2?
|
I dont think its working now, at least it doesn't for me. They must've changed how replays work, or something... Hope this sweet program gets updated.
|
Nope, doesn't work Any news of an update, TC?
|
Yea that tool was really useful, if it's updated it would be great. Still, thanks for the work!
|
Right, we didn't update for phase 2 ; but sc2gears now has multi-replay analysis and their program is far better. You should wait for a version of sc2gears for phase 2
|
Nice tool It's strange that it's not already on bnet..

ah
hope u guys get a phase 2 one working

not working for me dont know why T_T
edit ok ok first read -> think-> post sry dont work in phase 2

Anyone trying to get something like this working for the release version? I would give you a big virtual high five
|
not working for me... everything shows up as zero.
exactly which folder are we linking up?

it would be really nice to have smth like this for the official game

Does anybody know of a good way to calculate your win-rate per match-up right now? (besides looking through all games in your history through the cumbersome b.net 2.0 interface, using a pen and paper?)

Try Sc2gears. It has multi-replay analysis which shows your records for all match-ups besides many other things.

what do you mean by directory? I've put the damn thing everywhere i can think of and yet nothing gets results.
windows 7 64 bit
|
i only started saving all my replays 18 games ago, but so far these are my results.
PvP - 75% pretty good, i only lose to 2 gate. (3-1)
PvZ - 85% nice! (6-1)
PvT - 33% ..... (1-2)
PvRand - 0% I don't even know. (0-4)

bump because we need an update for such an awesome tool.
