Something worth bearing in mind, if you're unhappy with the current SC2 coverage:
Super high-end analysis works best when play itself is highly refined. For an analyst to highlight awesome nuances, those nuances must achieve something notable in a stable matchup. In the current state of SC2, where builds are in considerable flux, timings and windows of opportunity are constantly changing, and the map pool is periodically refreshed, it's impractical to attempt the same depth of analysis. I've noticed in a number of recent dailies, Day 9 has said something along the lines of "I'm not sure I like that... hmm..." - in other words, he doesn't have the umpteen thousand games of play/obs experience required to make decisive judgements.
In the same way that TL itself has clearly relaxed some of its posting strictures in acknowledgement of the immaturity of the SC2 metagame, I think Day 9 has temporarily shifted the emphasis of his dailies until such time as in-depth analysis can be more fruitful.

Pretty much every funday monday I've gone "Oh, I'll whip out Build X I refined a few months back but abandoned because it wasn't stable and send it in when I have a kickass game of epicness". And then he doesn't chose it but rants for like 5 minutes about how every game he got just had people sitting in their base until they attack moved at 20 minutes. And then he just chooses the guy who uses nukes.
I wouldn't mind so much but it seems like his "normal analysis" days aren't even really insightful lately, do we just not have really insightful games in SC2? I would like him to really get into all the details of a game.. I used to just learn even just one thing from a day9 episode but now I do not even learn that. Otherwise known as a learning curve, you are obviously going to learn 'less' each additional time you watch one. In addition, he does them for free, six days a week, and you are complaining that on two of these days he does something that you dont enjoy? Seems a bit self-involved.
Actually I enjoy them I'm just providing fair and balanced criticism. I get the news on TV for free too doesn't stop me from complaining about that.
I am just wondering if there aren't any SC2 reps that are good to commentate on and thats why it feels lacking, or if the monday/tuesday/wednesday stuff is eating into his ability to do high level commentary, or the suggestion that i'm too good to learn from day9 anymore (but I find that last one pretty unlikely)

Lately Day9 uses his Goofy-Mode too often, I agree. Hope he does more of detailed analysis again.

Are you kidding, The goofy mode is great, brings me back to the original BW dailies where there would always be a hilarious story to tell. But don't get me wrong still loving the new dailies, keep doing your thing Sean!

Let's just say the goofy/information ratio in his shows is a bit offset

I'm still waiting for the special daily ><

When's the daily back? Anyone know?

His twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/day9tv
Todays topic: Daily #231 - Ret vs oGsMC

He helped me learn to play terran better. :D

I don't care about all this talk of how high-level Sean's analysis is, or how mature SC2 is as a game... I just know that Sean is a complete and total boss for returning to his dailies the very day after holidays are over.

I feel like day9 hasn't done any mechanics-oriented videos in a while :\. by mechanics-oriented I mean like the one that was titled smoothing out beginnings (I think?) and the anti-baneling daily on marine-slicing.
On newbie Tuesday it wouldn't hurt to do a daily on say, force fielding, abusing the ledges, setting up mining pairs, and etc
btw day9 IS a total boss.

And Day said... LET THERE BE DAILIES! And then there was Ret vs OgsMC. And Day saw their Leetness, and it was good: and Day divided the Leetness from the Noobness.
|
Yeah when I asked, he hadn't posted that on his twitter yet. Thanks though!
Also, to contribute to this discussion, I'm pretty surprised anyone thinks what Day 9 is doing is anything less than awesome. I love Funday Monday and the goofy commentator style. We basically have 4 days of analysis, I don't know why anyone wouldn't like one day of fun.
Day9 is a total boss.

Anyone else have the chat not load up? It has been doing that a lot for me lately for pretty much all ustream channels. I use Chrome, could that be the issue?
Can't wait to see this Ret v MC match, been too long without Day9

I wish there would be a playlist, Day9 almost always plays so good music!!
