Yeah Day9 is in grad school, and he mentions that he has very little time for SC now that he is so busy with work and school. That is the original reason he states for starting the daily -- to spend the couple hours a day he has for sc2 in a way that still keeps him in the spot light and around the scene.
So yes, despite grad school day9 still spends a lot of time on SC2, but he no longer has the time he once had.
I'm not sure what day9's day job is, likely he has quit it in favor of casting opportunities, profit sharing with hits, and donations. Good stuff, just means he has even more time to be around the pro-scene.

Actually, there are several people in my class who play when we have some time. Med-students are prime SC2 players. We're super competitive nerds, generally with good hand eye coordination.

The implication was not that people should give up their leisure activities. My statement was meant to illustrate the idiocy of acting like a petulant child when your free entertainment doesn't come on when you think it should and use your lack of free time as a justification for acting like that.
I work long ass hours myself, and I don't have nearly the time that I'd like to have free. I understand the need to unwind and chill the hell out because you'd otherwise go insane and burn out. At the same time, Day9's workload is presumably far more demanding and he doesn't owe Funkatron or anyone else and explanation if he decides to cancel a daily. People saying that they're owed one are being obnoxious and childish.
