Has anyone seen that story going around about why United have never played at Tampa Bay?

Apparently its because the Glazers didn't want the United players getting jealous about how good Tampa's facilities are.

City vs Madrid is going to be a fun one, but we already knew that they were drawing a powerhouse regardless.

Brest vs PSG french team kill.

Well, Forest just destroy opponents like Brighton as they can't score there chances or keep control with there possession, so every counter attack forest had was like a goal.

The 6th goal was baffling how that stood though, so baffling. Deserved winners though due to Brighton playing into the hands of Forest, you dont take your chances or really control the ball, you will get countered and exposed BIG TIME.

Haha yeah that 6th was ridiculous.
Never a clearer handball, how can VAR not rule it out?

Personally I wouldn't have given that penalty for the 5th either. Making a decision like that when its 4-0 its just really strange. You see stuff like that (wrestling at corners) every week with no penalty given.

Still, we absolutely wrecked them, and without CHO which was a huge worry for us.
Elanga is absolutely on fire. 3 assists today.

Yeah the pen call was soft as fuck and that happens all the time. And the corner was going short anyways. There's an argument if the corner comes near post there but it's just a weird call 4-0 and when we see that all the time.

But Forest proving that they're a good team and that their loss to Bournemouth was just a little stumble. Can't believe people thought this was the end for them just cause they lost one game.

LFC winning a HUGE game against Bournemouth. Maybe only the 2nd game this season that has felt like a lucky outcome, Bournemouth deserved more. We were very lucky to not concede and Salah doing Salah things on that 2nd goal locked the game.

Bournemouth have been in absolutely insane form, what a result for Liverpool.
When I look at the season, and Liverpool's slight dip in form around December with a few draws, I reckon this was the game that's won you the league. The gap is huge now, especially if Arsenal don't win today.

Incredibly soft penalty and MacAllister should have been sent off. That said I can’t recall too many games where Liverpool were so fortunate in

On the flipside I mean Arsenal I think have been pretty unlucky. Probably not enough to change the league position, but they could be a bit closer.

They did ultimately win, but Lewis-Skelly getting sent off despite a VAR review for the clearest yellow card you’ll ever see against Wolves was another wonky call IMO.

It’s thin margins at this level, and I don’t think the old cliche that decisions balance out over a season is true. Momentum and mentality are huge components of winning a title. It hits different to have some games run away from you early in the season to open up a big gap to your rival, than it does to drop a game when you’ve had a big lead, and the confidence that goes with it.

Not even an Arsenal fan, and I generally dislike too much refereeing whinging but some calls have frustrated me as a neutral

As far as I can tell, the penalty was Gakpo getting his heels clipped. It doesn't look impactful, but is pretty surefire penalty if the ref sees it. At least reddit seemed pretty confident on that one.

Was Mac Allister just persistent fouling or was there some specific incident?

I guess it’s exacerbated if you consume all the match highlights in a big Saturday evening bonanza

There were two shouts in other games I remember with way more force of contact that weren’t given. In isolation, it’s not an incorrect call, but it’s about as far down the ‘soft’ scale as possible.

There will always be a degree of interpretation, but it still feels to me it varies way too much. Absolutely 100% forgivable from different referees relying on their eyeballs. But aggravating when you’re getting multiple VAR referrals on a weekend with pretty varying outcomes.

MacAllister missed a contested bouncing ball and booted (I think Brooks) in (IIRC) the back of the thigh having missed the ball, while already on a yellow. And the ref didn’t miss the incident he did call a foul like. It wasn’t a horrendous tackle that merited a straight red, but absolutely a nailed on booking. Indeed, Slott took him off very shortly afterwards, I think he conceded they got a little fortunate there!

But hey it was much more the ‘they rode their luck a little today’ than it being outright robbery or anything!

Yeah that is really unfortunate for the lad.

Gotta say I enjoyed today’s action, Arsenal give City a good walloping, and keep the title race as a long shot rather than borderline dead and buried. Lewis Skelly’s taking the piss of Haaland’s celebration was just that right side of enjoyable theatrics rather than outright poor sportsmanship. And man he looks a hell of a player, for his age especially. Nwanieri is perhaps a little less integral to the lineup at this stage, but he’s even more exciting.

Spurs got that kind of gritty, backs to the wall win in a game they suffered in, which they’ve really been lacking this season. A big moral boost but they’ll have to step up the actual performance for the League Cup semi against Liverpool.

I’m of course an insufferable neutral in Prem terms, but I don’t just want Ange to cling on because it makes for a good watch. I think he can make it work, or at least a hell of a lot better than we’re seeing now. People will be snide and say ‘every team gets injuries’ but come on, Spurs’ absence list is absolutely ridiculous.

Archie Gray looks a hell of a player and he’s barely played his best position yet! Along with Bergvall, he was clearly a signing for future promise and depth to blood in, but he’s become a mainstay out of necessity and swam rather than sank. The only real silver lining of this injury crisis is Djed Spence who didn’t get much of a look in even before Ange took over, but has done well, again playing out of position.

Man United, I can’t take pleasure in it given Minibat inherited that support from his stepdad. It’s strange that what was ‘glory hunting’ in my youth is now an exercise in stoic character building for supporters his age.

Interesting (loan) transfer with Rashford to Villa. This could be one of those transfers where it suits everyone involved. Villa are a bit thin with forward options, and I think it’s a pity Duran went to Saudi incidentally.

Your move Marcus. I’m not a betting man, but I think he’ll be good. Perhaps not Earth-shatteringly good, but he’ll show something. Something like Sancho at Dortmund/Chelsea perhaps. Not necessarily his absolute peak, but another in an increasingly long line of players who’ve performed better either before or after the Talent VortexTM that is Man United did its thing.

Jota got a yellow and sent off after brushing against the Spurs player's back leg while chasing him down in that infamous Spurs-LFC game last season, so the Gakpo foul was 100% a penalty.

I think over our season so far, we've been very lucky against Chelsea, and then only this time (aside I guess the United game where Maguire missed the last chance of the game but we still looked better than them throughout). So I'll take a lucky break here considering we were actually unlucky in some moments to drop points (Forest x2 grrr....)
