Well Pep is committed next season at least, then Haaland gets paid a lot of money to be in a competitive team with a lot of money, they are signing a few players now.

My guess is the case has gone well in there opinion and will only be points deduction this season which is a right off anyway, so next season City be playing once a week football in premier league with a very new squad. Haaland be at the forefront, probs promised him captains armband or something.

For those unaware btw Haaland had a release clause in his previous contract which has apparently been removed with this deal.

There’s the spectre of this case hanging over things, so it does become eyecatching, especially the length of it. Haaland realistically doesn’t have many upward or even sideways moves open to him, and there’s a hell of a lot of job security there. He could have a career ending injury and he’s still set for near a decade, and remember his father had to retire prematurely for just that reason and he’s had a lot of influence on his career.

If I was to guess, based on Pep extending, this, City making a few signings, as per the ongoing case. I reckon they will be punished, perhaps meaningfully, but it’ll not really matter all that much in the longer term.

My intuition atm:
1. They’ll have some kind of transfer ban for a few windows
2. They’ll get a points sanction, and it’ll be this season. Conveniently a season where they’re having a historically bad one by recent standards.

So basically the Premier League gets to say they’ve thrown the hammer down, but it won’t really derail the City project meaningfully. City won’t like it but secretly they’ll be alright versus alternatives, and the Premier League can save a bit of face and accusations of unfair and inequitable treatment.

It would take some serious balls to throw a points deduction at a City who were right in a title race, and frankly I’m not sure the Premier League has those balls.

If that’s the case, and I was managing the City project I’d be signing players, tying the likes of Pep and Haaland down.

Worst case for them they’ll get a deduction and if they really hit form they might still make Europe, and if they don’t it’s only a year out of it and they’ll expect themselves to make a big tilt at winning the Prem and domestic cups next season.

A transfer ban could hit them pretty hard. Almost all the key midfielders are 30+ and Rodri is coming back from a nasty knee injury. Even if they get the summer window, it's hard to get all the pieces together on one try. I'm looking at the current roster and only Foden looks like a surefire building block for the next 2 seasons.

Realistically aye. I think it’d be a pity not just as a neutral and enjoying their games, but I do think he can make it work with a little more time, and a less brutal injury list.

Bergvall and Gray fit his style, are clearly very good but they’ve clearly been bought for a future Ange mightn’t see.

The way Tottenham do business at times over this past decade rather confuses me. When they’re clearly in need of quality players closed to the finished article, they invest in promising youngsters. When say, under Pochettino the squad was in need of an injection of youth to replace some ageing players they didn’t do it.

If they were consistently shit, instead of bouncing between that and looking excellent, that’s one thing.

Outside of a massive upsurge in league form when the likes of van der Ven return, I guess a lot will depend on how they go in the cups. If they win the Carabao and/or go deep in the FA/Europa will probably determine his future Id imagine

Do you think Postecoglou could actually do something with healthy roster and one more transfer window? This season is probably written off anyway, so he could have surprising patience from the board if there's some glimmer of hope and he doesn't lose the dressing room and/or fanbase completely. I guess it also depends on the available candidates.

Of course if he stays and then fumbles the season start, it's a terrible look on everyone involved.

Looks like at least Telegraph (reliability tier low probably) thinks Postecoglou is still safe. I guess it's kind of expected that it's a disaster of a season if you try to play the suicidally high defensive line with half of your squad injured.

Apparently there are also some younger guys suited for his style in the roster, they're just not at the required level yet. If the internal stuff holds together, maybe it is worth giving him another shot next season.

This coming from me with very little idea what's going in the actual matches. I'm mostly piecing this together from some random reddit threads and this forum.

Barca vs Benfica was like a fever dream of a match.

Also damn you Raphinha for scoring that last minute goal, we could've been guaranteed first now need a draw against PSV away to secure it. I wanted to fully rotate but not Slot might go for the win and field a stronger lineup.

I don't think Slot will FULLY rotate, since at worst he'll still be using players who would normally play for us like Bradley/Tsimi at the FBs, with Jones/Elliott starting in the midfield and at least 1-2 normal starting attackers up top. But rotating out players like VVD, Salah, and Gravy is important to maintain their fitness. So far, Gravy has almost played every single minute of every single game and I'm really worried he's going to turn into another Fabinho where he runs his legs into the ground.

Yep a draw means they're out. However PSG and Stuttgart are facing off in the final round, they have 10 points to City's 8, and GD is equal/worse than City's, meaning that as long as City wins they will end up passing one or both of them. City is playing home vs Brugge so on paper that's an extremely managable opponent but who knows.
