Do people think Slot should be sacked?

not yet.

but its insane how quiet the media is around slot and liverpool over the last couple months. you never hear the end of it when its about united. where are all the interviews of slot? why is wirtz not getting the pogba treatment? where are all the critics of slots tactics? why is van dijk not getting the maguire treatment?

Isn't Jota's death the main reason Liverpool is being shielded? Would you want to be the first asshole media that criticizes a club that has lost a very important player a few months ago?

Also Wirtz is running like crazy and has no off-field antics like Pogba
And van dijk has proven multiple times that he is world class unlike maguire ^^

using jotas death as an excuse is a cop out. even slot recently said hes not going to use jotas death as an excuse for their poor form. such an excuse would be bullshit anyway; liverpool actually started off the season very well when jotas death was still fresh.

lmao wirtz "running like crazy". they didnt buy him for his distance covered stats. they bought him to create goals and assists. hes done none of that at the moment. pogba was getting massacred for better stats every season he played at united.
as for van dijk, i think hes overrated anyway but even if we accept that he was "world class" in the past, he was meh last season yet the title win gave him a pass. now hes gone from meh to legitimately shit this season. the handball against psv is something youd find in a maguire fails highlight video. its undeniable how easy every other team in the pl has it compared to united.

this isnt even including isak and salah in the conversation.

Its a cop out in some ways, but not in others.
I can totally understand how his best mates would be seriously affected by it. You're looking at probably a couple of people who have the kind of personality that gets overwhelmed by this kind of stuff.
I wouldn't expect the entire team to suffer so much though, especially when there's a massive squad full of expensive players there.
Van Dijk has had some amazing seasons, but he's not that consistent from year to year.
They just look totally jaded and like they don't believe in themselves or in Slot.

i can understand people grieving differently and such but i just dont see how it applies in this case tbh.
liverpool started off with like 5 wins in a row or something. its a complete 180 and that doesnt happen because you remembered suddenly how your mate died a few months ago. also a good chunk of the squad literally hasnt even played with him. whats wirtz and isak grieving about?

id actually argue that its even more disrespectful to jota to keep namedropping him as a reason for why liverpool are so shit right now.

Weird night at the City Ground last night. Forest played Malmo, who we beat in the 1979 final of the European Cup. Both sets of fans seemed to want to celebrate the night together which led to a very odd atmosphere. There were awesome TIFOs, all the surviving players of that night in 1979 were invited along as guests of honour.

The game itself was a total mismatch and Forest dominated Malmo HARD with a second string team of reserves and youngsters. Malmo struggled to even create a single chance or get a single touch in the Forest area for the entire match. Ryan Yates has now scored in the top 5 divisions of English football AND in the Europa League, in a fitting metaphor for his career. What a lad.
Easy win in the end 3-0.

Yep. Totally agree. That signing probably killed the dressing room. So kuch money wasted on the transfer fee and probably on the wages too. On a player who refused to train for weeks.

Which sane player would want such a guy in the dressing room?

Also doesn't help that Salah squanders every grade A chance, shooting from bad positions while his mates are waaaaaay better positioned and refuses to play even the tiniest bit defense

Interesting question now that we've seen what happens without him.

Was Kevin De Bruyne the only reason City were able to win everything for so long?

It helps, but the team was just formidable. Peak City were still running along smoothly even in periods when KDB was out.

If memory serves Foden’s player of the year season was in a campaign where KDB had a few injury layoffs and he got to play a more central role. Or Gundogan would show up with vital goals and turn into Frank Lampard when required. Or you had Bernardo Silva at the peak of his powers doing things.

Or a bit earlier you had Yaya Toure being ridiculous, or David Silva weaving his various webs.

City’s dropoff for me isn’t so much to do with KDB, but they’ve either lost players or had continuing players decline a bit and haven’t replaced them. Or, the replacements might be great but haven’t quite bedded in yet.

I mean KDB is obviously unbelievable, he’s gonna enhance any side. But for my money City are the best European side of the 2020s on average. They’ve got the quality of personnel, they’ve got the coach.

You take KDB out and don’t replace him with any other player, they’ll win less. But they’re still probably good enough to challenge for the Prem and the latter stages of European competition.

I don’t think this is the case with a lot of other sides. I mean Liverpool without Salah last year, what’s that look like?

Interestingly I think City are now in that territory as well. Where earlier this decade KDB was a glorious, glorious cherry on top of a very appetising cake, and I think City would still be a top, top side without him, and capable of challenging for the biggest prizes, now I think you take Haaland out and they aren’t.

Am I going insane or is Florian Wirtz actually playing well since his transfer?

Every time I watch him, he’s passing the eye test, he looks good, he does good things, he breaks lines. He makes subtle, clever passes, or the more obvious but deadly ones.

He also works his fucking arse off running around and gets stuck in.

I don’t watch every Liverpool game, so he probably has had some absolute shockers, but then who doesn’t in this squad?

Szoboszlai would be in the running for player of the year if he wasn’t in such a misfiring team, he’s been a cut above but apart from him I don’t think Wirtz is performing any worse than the rest of the squad really

Wirtz always was a hard worker on the pitch at Leverkusen. Maybe it is better if he plays more without Salah being on the field.

How did the reactions to United's downfall go initially? I think I remember people were a bit disappointed at Moyes not being great and then amused how boring Van Gaal's football was. Mou got them to 2nd place before the usual meltdown on later seasons.

Maybe at somwhere in the Ole era it sunk in that the Utd was no longer an automatic contender every season.

hard to even remember now but i think i got the feeling united were in really deep shit during mourinhos time.

i still rated mou highly then and i thought if mou couldnt get united to come 1st with the name value of the squad he had, united were doomed. also it was during mou and oles time which showed how utterly incompetent woodward and co were. ed woodward was probably the single worst piece of recruitment the club made in the history of football clubs.

also for me personally i really liked oles tenure. he came 2nd and 3rd in his full seasons and was unlucky to win a trophy. also his teams were easily the most enjoyable to watch out of all the post fergie teams. he also had a good record against our top rivals, especially against pep.

I felt Ole had something very good going until they signed Ronaldo. If they had gone for Haaland instead (which he was insisting on,) who knows what would've happened.

As a neutral I don’t feel United fans are as entitled as their reputation.

Moyes was partly on Ferguson. Not just his recommendation to give him the job, but Fergie basically didn’t rebuild the squad so he could have one more shot at the league, which they did. But then left him with the rebuild job.

I think the frustration most United fans have, far as I can tell is that the club is still ambitious. It still spends the money needed to compete for the big prizes. But it’s spent consistently badly and the club is pretty dysfunctional in terms of overall direction

Norway in 9th place!

Spain favorites ahead of France ahead of England - but even Spain only has a 17% chance.

Looks fairly reasonable to me!

agreed. ole was sabotaged by the forced return of a legend. ole was unlucky in many ways. people also memed him about how he lacked tactics or whatever but that was all horseshit tbh. we struggled against teams who sat deep yes, but we completely smashed teams that let us play to our strengths, including teams in the top 4
