It's not that he minded Calgary, it's that Calgary is about as far away as he can get from 'home' in the NHL. Being closer to home is part of the factor, so are other family concerns. For example, word is his wife's profession is really well served by living in Columbus, specifically. He'd never say that, because NHL fans are mouth breathers who love hating on people's wives, but if he's making a bit of a sacrifice (i.e. vs. NJD or NYI) to accommodate others, then good for him.

Now, we just need Calgary to eventually sign Tkachuk to a gazillion dollars for a million years and then he ends up sucking without Gaudreau.

also the home thing does make sense though. That shaves many hours off of return flights. Coast to coast, you're 6+ hours going to the west. That fuckin blows.

it's also close enough that now family can just show up announced hahaha
