Even though he's 36 I imagine he still has like 3 world class seasons left in him. And it must be inspirational for the united youngsters to have him to learn from. Great signing for United, and for Ronaldo, he solidifies his legacy, especially if they actually win something this year. Definitely increased their chances now - Cavani has been fine, but Ronaldo is an upgrade in every way.

Yeah it's a great signing, furthermore Cavani is going to miss even more games due to the international break and Ronaldo is a definite upgrade.

Im going a bit further with my tin hat mode and think this is the reason why Mendes and Ronaldo had a massive argument in the past few days. Rumours of a HUGE bust up between Ronaldo and agent Mendes due to the links with City as it was Mendes who went to City with the offer of Ronaldo's services and Man City cuz of no Kane were interested. Then Ronaldo goes off at Mendes and then he contacts Yanited. The Rio Ferdinand interview kinda makes me believe this timeline as well as Rio said he rang Ronaldo and Ronaldo said he "no no no and all the ways of saying no" that he was joining Man City. I think Ronaldo is the missing piece for Yanited to challenge as well. Cavani is not playing a whole season he is the wrong age and is injury prone a bit, add in Ronaldo now and you have two world class finishers to attach to Greenwood/Rashford/Bruno as well (Greenwood goes back to playing outwide)

That's a lot of new pieces in the puzzle and Ronaldo probably wasn't something they planned in advance too much. Yep it is a good signing but also a problem he needs to solve and get the players playing together quickly as they are "already playing catchup" dropping points to Southampton.

It feels like Ronaldo can probably get something dangerous going if you just throw crosses at his general direction, but things like pressing and defending and such are probably very different. You might also have to shuffle things around a bit to fit both Pogba and Ronaldo in the same starting 11, at least if you look at Utd's first two PL formations on paper.
