Group A: PSG & Man City (PSG topping the group) Group B: Atlético & Liverpool (Atlético topping the group) Group C: Lisbon & Dortmund (Dortmund topping the group) Group D: Inter & Real (Real topping the group) Group E: Barca & Bayern (Bayern topping the group) Group F: Villareal & ManU (Villa topping the group) <- most would pick Atalanta, I know, but Villareal can be a perfect underdog amongst those 3 to get through Group G: Sevilla & ? (Sevilla topping the group, the rest is just.. no idea) Group H: Chelsea & Juventus (Chelsea topping the group) Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea wins the CL twice in a row, their weakest link from last season has been fixed in a massive way (Lukaku) and I can really see them winning it again.

Irrespective of Mendy's guilt or innocence, I have no idea what would motivate a super wealthy footballer to do what he's been accused of. You could just about pick any woman/man you wanted for consensual fun times and if you were still horny you could afford as many/as high quality hookers money can buy. I hope the alleged victims are OK.

Yeah, just bench Werner (maybe loan him or sell him) and I can see them winning again. All other teams are having issues right now and I cant see them fixing all in one season. Also as usual, Bayern lucking it out in the groups again!

I'm thinking about following some Atalanta games at least. I've heard they're tactically very flexible and in general they seem like a fresh underdog challenger for the trophies.

Meanwhile I've only got pretty vague knowledge of either league outside the long term UCL regulars and such. Any advice on which teams to pay attention or other interesting tidbits? I generally find Athletic and Betis interesting teams to follow in La Liga. Athletic because of its unique philosophy of only fielding "local" players (and finding success with that), and Betis because they are an interesting underdog.

B: Liverpool ahead of Atletico. Another very strong group, where all 4 teams have the potential to qualify. C: Dortmund ahead of Sporting. Ajax have a very fair shot. Imo the weakest group of all (edging out G as the weakest because G have better third and fourth placed teams.) D: Funny, we had almost an identical group last season - it was Real, Inter, Shakhtar and Borussia Mönchengladbach. It ended up being a real nailbiter, with RM edging out BM, who beat Shakhtar on goal difference, with Inter ending in 4th place. (Shakhtar actually beat Real Madrid in both games - but they lost 0-10 in two games against BM, showing that they are.. a bit inconsistent.) This year, I think we get RM ahead of Inter. I can't picture Sheriff Tiraspol getting far, but a crippled Inter being overtaken by Shakhtar, again, seems plausible.. E: Bayern ahead of Barcelona. Bayern Munich are really consistent during group stage, with a 15-3-0 record from the past 3 seasons of CL. Benfica is good, but Barcelona is still Barcelona. F: United ahead of Atalanta. This is the only group where I think the first seeded team gets knocked out. Not that I think Villareal is bad - but while they won the penalty shootout vs United last season, I definitely thought United looked like the overall better team, and I think they should be better this season. Atalanta are really exciting and fun to watch, and I hope they do well. G: The most open group of all. Wolfsburg is the best fourth seeded team together with Milan, Salzburg are consistently solid, while Sevilla is imo the weakest second tier team (that's not really knocking them - the second tier is just as good as the first), and Lille is one of the weaker first tier teams. Still going with Lille ahead of Sevilla though - but while I think groups A, D, E, F and H will have more than 10 points between team #1 and #4, here I can totally picture something like 10-8-8-6 or whatever. H: Chelsea ahead of Juventus. Zenit and Malmö both drawing kinda dead.

There's Betis-Real Madrid on saturday. That's definitely an underdog game for them ![]() It's a bit unfortunate that some of the La Liga matches - including that one - start at 23:00 Finnish time, but that might be worth checking out anyway. Thanks for the pointers. I'll have to keep an eye on Athetic too.

Also, they're working to get Hazard on loan from RM. Ronaldo to United is a done deal. Just confirmed.
