If something works, do it again. Southampton had absolutely no answer to Son's pace. So Kane just started smashing it forward without even looking. That won't work against everyone.

Liverpool definitely need to sign Kabak or another CB imo. Can't win the league with just three CBs.

Yup, pretty dumb move. Before that, the game went pretty much like you'd expect. Chelsea looked closer to scoring than Liverpool did actually. They defended well and Werner's runs look deadly. Havertz looking slightly better this game, I guess he needs a few more games to adjust.
Recent interview seems to indicate that it was actually Werner who decided against Liverpool out of fear of not starting enough.

In the Christensen red, there's a bit of clip with their legs right before the called foul. I don't think Christensen was planning to go for the hug, but got tripped and kind of paniced and went for the hug. I'm not sure if it was intentional by Mane (he's got Kepa, the ball and Christensen to manage there), but it definitely helped in drawing the foul.

Well that was annoying. Christensen with a complete utter idiotic moment causing us to be 10men down. If he makes a genuine attempt to play the ball he does not get a red, he only got the red because he made not play for the ball as the ref deemed Kepa getting the ball, but when he looked at the replay and show Christensen made no tackle he just grabbed him down then it was a professional foul. Such a shame because up to that point while we weren't amazing offensively i did think we were pretty good defensively and Liverpool were kept at arms length.

Oh well, that was by far not our best team as we have 4 players out injured and a new keeper on its way.

still pretty impressive tho because Chelsea wasn't the first team to play with 10 men in the history of the Premier League for at least one half of the game

Tough luck for Chelsea playing this early vs Liverpool. They have a pretty new team overall and Pool was just too big for now. I think they have a shot at top 3 this year if they learn to defend a bit

I'm very curious to see how the Chelsea team gels together. It's pretty rare that someone brings in so much talent in short time span, especially with such a short preseason.
