As a slightly England leaning neutral who loves Italian football England were great in the first half, to an astonishing degree and Italy asserted themselves in the second. Extra time should be super fascinating

I’ve said that on this thread, others have said this on this thread. Were England better than Denmark on the night? Yes they were, Denmark looked absolutely shattered in extra time and England’s squad depth let them sub a player of the quality of Grealish on and off. Maybe without that Denmark take it to penalties and win, and fair enough, as I said I don’t think it was a penalty. But were they the better team on the night and were robbed? Well no not really. Except for some reason in this thread the framing is ‘England fans don’t give a fuck about a dodgy penalty’ despite evidence very much to the contrary. Intriguing period of extra time inc Maybe because Pandemona literally argued that the English deserved the penalty because predictive statistics said they should have more goals. But frankly, the semi is over. The final is entertaining- especially in extra time where both sides seem to play to win.

They won their last pen shootout vs Columbia during WC2018 ![]() And in general, their resistance to choking in all those games is what really surprised me with England. And cmon, losing to struggling Germany would have been fitting history. And them getting eliminated by some of the more surprising knockout opponents would have been fitting too... Yet they really just didn't do the typical England choke...

It was an impressive wrestling move, but it was obviously a deserved yellow. I'm not anti England. I'm anti Sterling, and anti English hooligans. But I have no love for Italian football in general. I'm pretty neutral and just enjoying the match.

We have Sandro Wagner as co-commentator, who was kinda considered a dumb loud mouth during his active career... But I have to say I'm really intrigued by this commentating, it is really good and insightful. (and way smarter than I had given him credit for)

Even Pande who is by far the most biased English supporter here (no offence meant) said England deserved the win despite the dodgy penalty, not that it was a particularly deserved award. Man so pumped for more of this!

I always thought Wagner was one of the biggest idiots of german football but he has been doing this for a while now and it has been a very positive suprise for me so far.
