I don't think I have ever seen teams get booed and whistled when they have the ball anywhere else. Even the Danish booed the Belgian despite the fact that they agreed to stop the match at 10 minutes for Erisken and that Danemark was winning.
Almost certainly not but that’s more to do with football being the world’s most popular sport and generally encompassing more of the population, especially during tournament season where even people who don’t really like football get dragged in to the spirit.

I wish all referees would ref the game like this. People would soon stop diving if they weren't getting free kicks for every tiny bit of contact.
Both teams diving alot near the end of the half.

i think nba is getting up there, less fans but they're much closer to the players and they yell some pretty bad shit at the players too.
very happy for shaw to score that goal, hasnt had the smoothest career up to this point with club and injuries

It's football, not fencing. You don't get a foul every time there is a touch. It was pretty much same thing as in the Denmark game -- he just charged into defenders and went down dramatically, hoping that whatever 'contact' on the way down will suffice to earn a penalty.

Maybe if he struggled and fell rather than did his dying swan act the second he felt the lightest touch there'd be a point.

I hate penalties like that though.
Even if there was a foul, he’s never getting on the ball. It should only be a penalty if there’s a potential for the attacker to actually get on the ball, if your first touch is going straight to the keeper or a goal kick and even Usain Bolt wouldn’t get to the ball I’m not sure why it should be a penalty.
