He always tries to do unexpected things and when it works (Messi false 9 against Madrid for a 6-2), he's a genius, when it fails he's a terrible coach. In my opinion, he should still try new things but he should never abandon his attacking philosophy. He did tonight, the same way he did against Tottenham the first game last season, and both times he lost in similar fashions. Kinda reminded me alot on how we in munich always went out of CL with pep as a coach in the semis. When he is playing a team that is defending with alot of discipline, there seems to be no creativity in his game plan to overcome this. He is always trying to carry the ball into the net and is running against a concrete wall every time. And it then just depends entirely on individual class or lucky crosses to even create goal chances. And then he is always kind of vulnerable to counters since his defenders are so far up front. Reminded me especially of our loss against Athletico in the semis. We had the ball & stuff but didnt really do any good with it. The years before vs Madrid & barca he just completly threw it.

Well, he is an Espanyol player which is Barca rivals and said before in an interview somewhere that he wouldn't do it because it wouldn't be right because of being player for Espanyol. I think he is the best fit for them now though, but i just don't see it because of that stuff. Maybe Sarri? xD

But it's not like a new thing that Sterling miss open chance, so my counter point is that if Pep keep picking Sterling the arrow starts to point on Pep, also keep in mind the insane amount of money he had to buy other players that can actually finish.

Lippi’s great Juventus team and the team Fergie measured United’s progress against in that era only managed to win one. Arguably Mourinho’s best sides in his first stint didn’t manage to win it. Should absolutely be a goal and an aspiration, it seems silly to be an expectation. However with Pep it’s that he isn’t even really putting City in the conversation. And yet again we’ve had him seemingly outthink himself and set up his team in a way that just didn’t work.

Lol just fold the club if that happens this summer... let's just combine this with the Ronaldo rumour and have PSG buy both for the ultimate superteam.

I'm watching on BT sport 1 and there are crowd noises, even though at the beginning of the game there was a game which said "no added crowd noises"...

Might make it easier, as heretical as that sounds. Barca’s saleable assets are the players they need to rebuild around. Scenario A - Barca sell half their promising players to rebuild the other half of a team, and with 1-2 seasons of regular revenue have enough in the kitty to assemble a good team. Which may be enough to give Messi a final shot or two at another Champions League once the rebuild’s done, provided he’s still close to his current level 2-3 years down the line. Scenario B - Barca sell Messi and fill 3-4 holes with the money. Barcelona are the only club with a player of Messi’s ability in the world, but hey there are far, far better teams in European football right now. The sad part is that the board has pissed away money so badly that to build another team worthy of Messi’s talents they almost have to sell Messi unless they get some external cash injection.

Tsk, Ronaldo’s a poor man’s Mauro Icardi. In more contemporary news this match tonight is looking promising. United don’t look as physically lacking as they did last round.
