Zidane is a god dam genius, leaves before shit goes south and comes back as their savior. Probably got a huge rise and power to spend in the transfer window as well.

The first time he was a coach without any experience and expectations were low after Benitez got kicked. It's not the same story now, he will have to prove he can do more than be a good leader. He'll have to pick players and make the team play good football all year long. Let's not forget last season would have been a disaster had they not won the CL (which obviously is huge, but "only" needs good performance on 5-7 games).

Yeah for sure their is expectations, but he also clearly "knew" shit was going to go wrong and asked for money / a rebuild type thing and had a disagreement with Perez over it and walked out. That to me puts him a bit higher in my "rankings" of him due to he saw this, because Real Madrid under him were not global force, they just turned up in big games and scored goals at crucially the right time thanks to Ronaldo. Now he has to change it all, Ramos might even be gone let alone just Modric, Bale, Kroos and Marcelo.

It's not about toping what you did before tho, it's about rebuilding a team, a completely different challenge and one supporters must realize too.

Also nobody really cares if you play good football if you win something, also if you win something you are probably playing good football.

Zidane already proved he can do wonders tactically & mentally wise, now we will see how good he is at preparing a season + picking the right players to sign to do the rebuild.

Anyway, despite me being a #1 Real Madrid antifan I wish them all the best. I think I might even change my mind if it comes to this club but I need Ramos to be gone. I just hate this guy so much - as much as I hate Pepe - jesus Christ, those guys are meh.

It's interesting to see how much long term freedom he actually gets though. Some of the starting 11 issues can be fixed with galactico signings, but that doesn't really fix the squad depth that has been degrading for years now.

The problem with getting rid of Ramos is that he is a real leader type and Real dressing room has no other player who could be one. That problem only increases with players like Hazard

Who would the team look up to when a game is not going their way? It has always been Ramos who saved them time and time again. I hate him with a passion but you cannot disregard his importance to the club.

I agree, Ramos falls in that category of go big or go home and hes gone big so many times now that his go homes have certainly been more than accounted for.

It's actually quite impressive how controlled Atletico are playing. Earlier they sacrificed a decent chance of a counter attack by passing the ball around a bit at midfield in order to kill the tempo in the match. Only now that it has calmed down do they go into the last third of the pitch. It's like they refuse to attack if the pace of the game is not completely under control.
