LOL, these landing mechanics i'm discussing are basic. and i said they were basic in my previous posts. as far as the 1 leg landings go... anyone who watched Kobe's career noticed it. if u didn't notice it u weren't paying attention.

go outside and find a patch of concrete. Jump 12 inches in the air and land on 1 leg heel first. Do that 10 times fast on the same leg. Then for added fun do 10 more with your knee locked. Lemme know how that goes. its pretty funny how you've tried to claim i've never played sports and you think basic stuff like this is some kind of advanced science.

It is also EXTREMELY clear that you watched this video then "came up" or wanted us to think you "came up" with the whole landing mechanics causing Kobe's injury shit.

this is me acknowledging i'm not the only guy to notice this...
so guy ... quit misquoting me and making up bullshit... i made this quote shortly before a more detailed discussion began.

notice how he lands on his fade-aways and many other shots on his left foot only and often heel first. some say this was the catalyst for his left knee problems.
bad landing mechanics are a good predictor of future injuries.

Oh my bad it's just a complete coincidence that you found this video right after you noticed (a year after his retirement) that his landing pattern changed after the injury. You noticed this the one time a year he came to toronto with your eagle eyes that have missed entire people playing. You then know that this cause his last injury even though this video just theorizes.

Odd how you chose to wait too bring this to our attention till now and now when he was getting injured and how you just happened to come across this video after you started "yapping" about Kobe....

LoL, LMAO.... this is honestly the story you are sticking too and you expect people to believe? Really?
come on man.

i never stated it was my theory. your point of attack is invalid. your point is moot.

i noticed him landing on his left leg years ago. me and some friends bounced around ideas 2+ years ago about how he could blow out his achilles. after that convo it was clear plenty of fans noticed he lands hard on his left leg. the guy takes 87 bazillion shots a year. that's 87 bazillion chances to watch how he lands on 1 leg. this isn't an egyptian pyramid mystery...

but u do have to watch the games and not read boxscores to see it.

The video brought greater depth and detail so i added it. i never thought about the issue as deeply or in as much detail as that video. and again, i never said it was "my theory". so i don't know why u continue to blab on.

back to basketball, Korver is getting torched... Denver is going right at him.

Korver is playing Wiggins level defense tonight

i don't watch Korver play that much... i remember him as bad...i don't remember him being extremely bad though. LBJ issued a coded messsage to him after the game.. LBJ said guys are relying on help defense too much.

Kobe!!!!! i love Kobe: if you want to keep yapping about him go ahead.. i'm not stopping you. if you want to talk about me.. PM me and keep it out of the NBA thread.

Whiteside will try to play tonight's game with 16 stitches in his right hand and he practiced shooting with his left hand today.

you are constantly misquoting, claiming stuff i'm doing when i'm not. its been proven in the previous page. i am not continuing to go over it. i never said it was my theory. if u want to make up paranoid theories about me ... take it to PM. there is nothing else to discuss.

you claimed i was trying to say it was my theory. before the convo began i stated it was not. done. you don't fully read my posts and create theories about me based on half reading my stuff.

i've probably watched Korver play in 10 games over the last 5 years. my impression is his defense is bad. i don't run around looking up articles on guys. i prefer to watch the games. and he looked horrible last night.

Miami is really missing Dion Waiters tonight.
coming out party for Delon Wright.
i'm actually watching basketball tonight

Thats a stupid idea by Nick Wright.

Well if it is, it's not because of that...I still can really only think of one flaw with it that might/might not be fixable.

And it seems like you are more against the fan's reactions than anything? To me that just is what it is...if players have the right to sit games for rest, fans have the right to complain about it. It's a two-way street. It's more about why the league had/has taken so long to do something about it.

When fans and dumb media members started making RINGZZZZ a major part of player legacy, resting during the regular season in an era that has players doing so much on the court relative to older eras was an obvious result.
I mean even if that is true and players do that much more on the court than before, the resting has more to do with a better understanding by scientists/doctors on the effects the schedule has on the body than anything else. ofc it also doesn't take a scientist to see how tough schedules have affected a team's w-l record throughout past and current seasons.

I do agree with your other stuff on the league and about the informing of absences by the teams (minus the soccer thing which I don't really get).

@andrewlt don't disagree with anything really...the scheduling of games is finally going to be changed and is late to do so in the minds of many. Will be interesting to see if/how they adjust for the "little things" like that in their scheduling system/software. I also agree with the media/fan obsession with rings and actually heard Gottlieb bring that up on Cowherd earlier(yes I drove a grip today).

Bringing up Duncan leads us to the real problem, which is that the league took too long to do something when this has been happening for years. More teams are only doing it now b/c they have seen it works with Pop. The only logical solution is to follow suit of a successful formula. And it's on the superintendent and his crew to do something about it (suhh clutz), which I do think everyone here agrees on.

It's not just the fans' anger, its that its directed at the players. These are decisions from the teams and ownership being handed down. Hence why Adam Silver is talking to them and not the NBAPA. Many ppl are using this as an excuse to bash the players for other reasons that largely have to do with their perception of laziness. It's also not a two way street with players and fans(more so owners/fans). The fans dont have a right to do anything. If you dont like it - vote with your wallet and stop paying. Saying someone has the right to do something that concerns another persons well being when they arent even informed about what players and teams do on a day to day basis is ignorant and dangerous.

The league in general never gave a shit because no one else did: until marquee players and teams did it one too many times.

The soccer thing was a reference to soccer teams sitting players which seems to be widely accepted in Europe.

And yes I think we can all agree something needed to be done. Quality of prime time games is as important as having them anyway. But if Lebron gets injured playing a game in late March you can bet fans and dumb media guys will turn around and blame the league for pressuring guys to play.

I can agree with most of this actually. Except about fans not having a right to do anything, which I think they do as paying customers. If the league ever let it get to the point where fans stop paying with their wallet, then they will have really mest up. Sound business strategy would be to squash this before the fans get organized enough to do something like that.

Adding to the "no one giving a shit until the marquee players and teams did it" comment(I agree), is that many more teams are resting players now, not just the marquee ones. All teams seem to have come to accept the act as a benefit. A supplementary driving force that also can't be overlooked is that of ESPN/ABC. They can really fuel a narrative in the sports-world if they want to. The company has obvious interests in doing so in this case, and they haven't held back on the league.

The soccer thing is not totally comparable, since soccer is played year-round (clubs, champions league, international, etc). They don't have 4-6 months off like the NBA.

@ the jimmies: that back and forth was great 8D

So offense is better than defense because you can't be worse than a zero on defense?

Minnesota's defense took another beating tonight. the Laker//Minnesota game was fun to watch and i have to hand it to the Lakers fans for being so enthusiastic given their season's ugly ending. Great fun to watch... cool seeing Nicholson in the crowd.
Its 130,100,123,123,117 since Bjelica got hurt. ouch.

if LA and Phoenix have the same # of losses who gets the better lottery probability thing? i guess the loser of the tiebreaker is really the winner.

According to Wikipedia:

In the event that teams finish with the same record, each tied team receives the average of the total number of combinations for the positions that they occupy…Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination. The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery.

Fair enough, I guess.

Kobe!!!! ( more Kobe Landing Mechanics Talk and the Debunking of what i watched when i watched it.. what i knew.. and when i knew it )

+ Show Spoiler +

the guy counting Kobe's landings only watched a small sample of his landings in 2007. Furthermore, as per the video i posted, he relied more, and more on his left leg in 2008,2009, and 2010 as the right knee/leg surgeries added up. I'm a big Kobe fan ... but this was a long time ago and precisely WHEN Kobe began predominately relying way too much on his left leg i'm unsure of. but, i'm 100% sure he overly relied on his left leg for landings for years before his left knee and left achilles were blown out.

so if he didn't rely on his left leg too much in 2007 then good catch by you. my impressionistic memory of when his shot landings changed could be off.

this of course blows your theory that i watched the video first and then posted later. because my years are off. again, me and my kobe fan-boy buddies were lamenting Kobe's blown achilles and asking "how could this happen?" and we talked about how much he relies on his left left in shot landings. we never took things into the level of detail outlined in that video. also, this was a donutshop convo that took place like 3+ years ago. Country Style > Tim Hortons. Fuck Tim Hortons.

i bet if you were to watch some Kobe from 2010, 2011, and 2012 you'd see predominately left leg only landings. if you'd like to research that and report back to us.. that'd be awesome man!

i thought they'd use the same rules as a playoff tie-breaker. although this method of "tie break" sounds weird... its probably a better method. you don't want teams intentionally losing to "win" a tie-breaker.
