Because they play against no one in Serie A, no opponents (they even bought best players of those teams who could give them some troubles, Higuain from Naples and Pjanic for Rome), favorable referees, for what happened in 2006, and much more. Couldn't stand how they were pumping this team as one of the best ever when the reality is that the first real team they faced, crushed them HARD.

I wouldn't undermine the achievement too much. English teams are pumping stupid money into their teams and can't seem to even get close to a Champions League final. But Italian football could definitely benefit from a more competitive Milan, Rome or Naples team. The same could be said about French or German football. I'm still not sure if I like or hate Monaco been competitive. It's great there's a team competing with PSG. But I wish it was any literally any other team in the league.
Congrats Real.

Congrats Real. This year, there's no excuse, they had to play top teams to get to the final. A bit disappointed by Juventus in the second half...
What a sad year of football for me. Madrid's CL, Portugal winning the Euro, Messi losing yet another final, then Madrid winning ANOTHER CL. And Ronaldo getting another Ballon d'Or for playing 5 good games the whole year... Now he'll have the same amount as Messi. Just shocking x)
Real was weirdly good this season. Usually they turn up in the CL where their playstyle shines, but they suck in the league. But this year, they were super consistent. Lots of comebacks, lots of clutch last minute goals, and great physical shape for the last part of the season despite all the games.

Messi needs to take a page out of ronaldos book. He needs to stop wanting to play every game. Funny how it seems that Messi has a bigger ego than Ronaldo.
|
Well, imo, Messi still had a better season than Ronaldo. Even playing all the games x) Just watch the Copa del Rey final or the last Clasico. I think Ronaldo is doing a great job converting to a pure striker but his influence on Real's game is much less important than before.

Nice butthurt, france getting owned by portugal really broke your senses.

Congrats Real. There was a big rob against PSG.the french team was looking really good but barcelona team is pretty good at acting.

Yes, Ronaldo was very poor this season until the decisive CL games. I'm not saying this isn't already an achievement, but if you measure his season's performance, you can't limit it to 5 games. This year, Real's whole team was the best, not him.

id understand if you saying 5 good games was meant to be an exaggeration, but if you legitimately think that then you have no idea what youre talking about.

Cmon, dont nitpick on willywanker just because he said 5. Its clear what he means and 5 is just an arbitrary number. We all know he was out of form most of the season. But still that makes him being top scorer in CL even more impressive imo
|
Of course it's an exaggeration. I'm talking for his 'standards'. He used to win important Liga games by himself during the whole year. But this year he 'only' turned up for these last CL games.

First real team they faced? You do realize they faced Barca - the team which is heavily favored by crooked La Liga refs?

Doesnt matter, ronaldo scored more than 40 goals this season,he was the second best assistant after neymar,he also changed his game and is defending more and more,in the begin of the season he comeback from injury and took in early games the spot of 9 something that didnt work out for him.in general maybe no the season he scored the most but is the season where i see ronaldo trying new things.at 32 years in football well.is amazing to watch for his fans.
Evertything is about messi blablabla.messi apart from the clasico victory with one man less and la copa del rey trophy + the inflated goal numbers in the group.stage i didnt see messi at all.eye messi is a fantastic player.but the hate for ronaldo makes people love messi even more.

This year Barcellona was a team in disarray, they already know Enrique was leaving, Iniesta has started his sunset boulevard, they need to rebuild to start a new cycle.

guy scores 10 goals in the final 5 CL games vs bayern, atletico and juventus - the teams that conceded the least goals in germany, spain and italy respectively. The rest of the season wasn't great (well, by non-messi/ronaldo standards it totally was), but that final run is absolutely spectacular. Messi gotta get his groove back for next season, or Ronaldo will end up with the most ballon d'ors of the two.

Who would have thought Luka Modric would be a 2 time CL winner lol
He looks so out of place in that team also, like he is so low perfil lol
Edit: just to be clear, talking about his personality, his skills are well proven

I know what you mean, his personality is like that of a player who would be fine playing for sub-top European team and not actually be the best midfielder in the world.

Yeah, some of his games earlier in the season were just outright bad. We saw some of it during the last Classico as well. Constantly losing the ball, hardly involved in play and kinda useless if he doesn't score. During the Champions League and towards the end of La Liga Ronaldo just took off. That game against Atletico especially was really fucking good. I had my doubts about Ronaldo and he proved me wrong. Willing to admit that.

It was a nice game. I would have prefered a different champion but Real deserved to win this game.
Ronaldo's season reminds me of Zidane's 2006 one when he planned his entire season to peak at the world cup. He still has the confederation cup to play which is a worthless trophy, he should have been rested.
