I couldn't care less what came back or how much salary we hold onto. Someone took him for us! The Purcell and Nillson trades were meh though. Probably got fair value. Too bad we didn't trade Nillson at the start of the season when he was hot. Woulda been good stuff coming back i bet

My best guess is that they want to basically run 3 fairly even lines, with pretty even TOI distribution. AV has always been big about that, and it at least helps on draws since the Rangers are pretty awful at that outside of Moore. So it's nice having a top 6 guy who can play there. Staal also plays wing. Still, kind of high price for what I assume is a rental. I don't see how NYR fits him next year even at half price.

Im really confused on why the hell the Pens traded for Schulz, doesn't seem very beneficial if they're pushing for a Cup run. If todays Caps/Hawks game was a preview of what the Cup Finals end up being itll probably be the best Cup series in a while.

but then again, I've felt for ages the Pens are a really flawed team that has, for years, relied entirely on Sid, Malkin, and Letang to overcome bad coaching and bad roster creation. They still lack a bottom six, and don't exactly have a good D overall. But basically, Schultz is mobile, young, and has a nose for offense. He's someone who can be productive in the right situation. Kind of like how MDZ is having a career resurgence in Philly. He's never gonna be a shut down dman, but if you use him right, give him lots of OZS, and put better defensive players out for the harder assignments, he's useful.

The three best defensemen this year have been Sekera, Klefbom and Davidson. Of course, Dreamboat has been injured since forever and Davidson is a rookie so yeah, that leaves Sekera. Missing Klefbom for this many games has been terrible. Nurse needs work. He is fun to watch but brings too much chaos to be anything but a 6/7 at this point.
