And I think in 2013/2014, united fans were just sad in general, definitely not able to appreciate liverpool having success. Now, they're more pissed off - it was okay to have one poor season after SAF quit, but van gaal is frustrating the fuck out of them. I have a united supporting roommate, and two dogs. Couple days ago dog pissed inside, he immediately took out his united towel to clean it up, saying that cleaning dog piss is probably the best thing this logo can do for me now.

You want him to buy hulk and segio but those guys won't be cheap and will want starting Manu money. And things are always more expensive the more money you have.

Van Gaal has been terrible in the transfer market, spent big for short-term success in the first year with Falcao/Di Maria and they flopped. Now he's spent silly money for the future with Memphis/Martial. All that to spend and he doesn't have a single world-class attacking player... United's two best players (De Gea and Smalling) pre-date him. He's been really really disappointing imo but after Moyes' failure he's apparently "rebuilt the club" that won the league 1 year before his appointment, yeah right... Oh and he keeps playing Rooney and will probably go out of the UCL groups...

hes a shit manager though di maria wasnt a short term fix. if di maria didnt turn out to be a fkin whinging pussy then he would still be a key player for the squad. im sure he still thinks manchester is more dangerous than paris though van gaal took a risk with falcao and in hindsight it was a terrible move but lets be honest, when the move first happened no one doubted van gaals ability to revive falcaos form. memphis and martial are good players (martial especially), so no problems there with transfers. honestly transfers arent even the main reason our team plays shit. everyone spews crap about 'lack of world class players', but seriously, has anyone seen what the squad looked like in the last few years for fergie too? the lineup used to beat arsenal 8-2 fking had anderson, cleverley, self destructive evans, welbeck, CHRIS smalling and jones the lineup used to beat arsenal 2-0 in 2011 had oshea, gibson, rafael and fabio in midfield our issue isnt with personnel. all our problems are purely tactical and this is van gaals fault alone. ive never seen more rigid and predictable play from any top team in my life. its no coincidence rooney is going through the worst form of his career. the guys natural instinct is to play like a wild dog. you dont put him on a fking leash, you let him run around like crazy and do his own shit. yeah he might not have the legs like he used to, but when you make him adapt to an extremely rigid organisation he doesnt have the freedom to move around and do what he does best. this goes for every attacking player we have; its not a lack of creativity on the players' part. our system just doesnt allow for it

Martial and memphis are a lot more proven then surplus to requirements de maria and a falcow that never really showed anything but ability. Luke shaw was a good buy and is thunderous this year. The germans he bought for the midfield will keep it good for a few years and weren't that expensive either. The problem is that he has to spend as the club with the most amount of money. best in the world talent isn't cheap and is insanely overpriced on the attack. depay is 27 28 m which isn't bad but where are you going to find a striker with any skill at manu's level for under 80m? Suarez is the type of player that he needs but prying a player away from a club after the last tv deal was annouced is going to cost 90m or so now not to mention the kind of wage +merch deal they'd have to spend. rooney costs somewhere in the 300k a week range I belive?

and I agree Van Gaal's system is a huge part of why United look toothless in attack (he played Di Maria as a wingback wtf), but still can only watch Rooney fail to trap the ball so many times before thinking he's past it just like RVP. SAF saw it coming in his last year when he benched Rooney him vs Real Madrid and kept trying to offload him, then Moyes gave him a huge new contract... it's pretty telling when the tactics turn into hoofing up for Fellaini..

nowadays he almost always receives the ball in a standing position with his back to the goal, or while he is dropping deep. the rare occasions where he actually runs into space and picks up a through ball, hes pushed out all the way into the wings. the last game for example, martial and rooney were so far apart and pretty much always on the sides of the pitch, rather than having someone make a run through the middle. same thing happened when memphis was subbed on when we play with a 1 striker formation theres just no space to run into through the middle because teams just sit deep and have 3 people surrounding rooney, again forcing him out wide into a non-threatening position. so basically yeah, his technical ability isnt the best atm but literally no aspect of the current system suits rooney's style. even if he had mata's technical ability there would be practically no difference in terms of shots or goals

Oh and he keeps playing Rooney and will probably go out of the UCL groups... I know that similar things were posted below, but... Di Maria was excellent in Real's drive to the decima and in the World Cup. He seems to be doing well in Paris. LVG was right to buy Angel Di Maria, but Di Maria just didn't adjust to Manchester which is a shame. Man U had to buy a big name as well and he was probably the biggest they could get with being out of the Champions League. Falcao was a gamble that didn't pay off, just an expensive loan and not a big deal. I think Memphis and Martial are great signings that look like they could play for United for a decade, but... Robin Van Persie and Rooney, who should have been stars to go along with Di Maria and De Gea, just started slowing down at an incredible rate. I think Man U did solid in the transfer market this past season and Schweinsteiger, Memphis, and Martial have really added something to the team. Its a shame, but I think United need two attackers to pair with Memphis/Lingard and Martial. Perhaps players like Marco Reus or Alex Teixeira or someone established, but more Dynamic to than Mata. Another option might be for United to go without 2 holding mids and instead play Mata and Rooney as central midfielders with Memphis, Lingard, and Martial in front of them. Probably not enough defense in that midfield, but I'd think that Rooney and Mata could create more going forward with someone they can pass to within 15 yards of them instead of watching Rooney try so many 40 yard passes. A 4-3-3 works as well as the 4-2-3-1.
