Yeah im more a fan of away goal counts AFTER extra time, like how the Chelsea game went is fair use of the system imo. Because surely away goals > penalties at least? In the times of continuous midweek games (Wolfsburg had it's first free week after 8 consecutive midweek games apparently) more extra time games means more tired players, worse games and more injuries. I get the criticism but that's not really a better alternative Wolfsburg played 8 weeks of 2 games in a week? Thats insane but doesnt happen often, even in England who have more games than Bundesliga and La Liga we dont have 8 weeks of that xD But without that surely its a nice alternative? I mean would you rather penalties in which for example Chelsea could have beaten PSG that way and the whole world explode and call us lucky xD Wolfsburg schedule, only time off was between the 22.03 and 04.04 and that was international week I believe. Granted we all know that the europa league is shit, but everytime there is a extra time game in the german cup, the next weekend there are bad games. And you have to remember how many games they have played at this point in the season. Bayern 50 and Barca 55?
I prefer the system as it is now, same with penalties really, they also suck but they're stil better than the alternative.

Barcelona play Atletico this weekend, so It was a normal desicion.

I guess barcelona was not fully motivated for this second half, can't really blame them and I dunno how it would have played out if they actually had to try.. But still, I don't think I've seen them be this dominated on the pitch, like, ever? Not even in the 7-0 trouncing did you have a single half that looked this one-sided.

Messi had his cardio for today, lol.

Second half was awful by Barça but... Berlin here we go!!! FUCK YEAH :D

Müller MVP of Bayern/Germany since 2010.
Remember how Maradona didn't recognise Müller? what a joke

Props to Bayern for showing good spirit after being down 1-4. Barcelona will be a well deserved CL winner this year. They Patienten er built up a new team around their new players Neymar, Suarez and Rakitic. Bayern just had too many recently or still injured Players to be alble to compete on an equal level als Barcelona. With a routined defence line consisting of Lahm, Boateng, Benatia and Alaba as well as Martínez as defensive midfielder there would have been a slightly better chance to match the terror of Messi/Suarez/Neymar. Also, equally important, Bayerns counterattacking is too harmless without Robben or Ribéry. I think the peak of German teams in the Champions League in the Last 4-5 years will be over for now. Bayern will have to regenerate their team with new, younger players, as Barcelona did recently, because the oder players like Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Alonso and Ribéry are beginning to struggle. The other teams of Bundesliga, Wolfsburg and Gladbach, are going to get eliminated in the group stages. Maybe Leverkusen could produce a little upset by reaching the knock-out stage. The other two bis german Clubs Schalke and Dortmund are currently going through a mutual crisis and will need at least 2 seasons of build up to be to compete in the CL again.

I actually think that Wolfsburg has a great chance of getting out of the group stages. They're going to keep De Bruyne, have already signed Max Kruse, and will probably spend more cash. I agree that Gladbach will probably be knocked out in the group stages, but I do think they could possibly cause an upset, depending on the draw. As for Dortmund, I have quite a bit of faith in them getting back to the CL next year and potentially winning the EL as long as they get in. Schalke's just a fucking dumpster fire, so no clue where they'll be.

That was a fun game today. I thought the result was ultimately very fair in regards to the display on the field over two legs. It was clear that Barcelona was clearly a class above Bayern in this tie, most specifically in attack where they were devastating, where Bayern was flat. With that said, I don't think a complete mauling was indicative of the tie. In the first leg Barcelona struggled to break Bayern down outside of the first 15 minutes of Pep's suicide experience. In the second leg it was a matter of circumstance and work ethic. Bayern had to go for it and left themselves open at the back which Barcelona profited from, but Bayern fought much harder then them (understandably to save face at home) and got a deserved win. Barcelona were never in trouble however. The 5-3 score line was fair result.
If Bayern had their full complement of players available for the tie in sure it would have been closer, but nonetheless I think Barcelona would have come out on top. To me this is a once in a lifetime (second in a lifetime for Barcelona fans if you consider this another team to Pep's team) squad that will be remembered 100 years from now with nostalgia to boot. I feel privelaged to watch this particular team, and to watch Messi in this form and I know I will never see his equal in my lifetime.
Whoever emerges from the Real - Juventus tie, I fully expect them to be brutalized in similar fashion to Barcelona's previous opponents. But you never know. That's what keeps football interesting.

Couldnt have put it better.
Although I have serious reservations that Barca would have beaten a full strength Bayern Squad. Their was a massive disconnect in Bayerns attacking play and they would have caused Barca plenty of grief with more substantial posession.
And the final. Juve is not at that level but Real Madrid defending a title would be a massive battle one that would be totally contingent on some sort of individual brilliance or even mistakes for that matter.

I disagree with the "remembered 100 years from now" statement. You seem to forget that human memory is very very short lived. Most people don't even know Di Stefano, Gerd Müller and that is how many years ago?
Also Real has the squad to fight 1:1 vs Barcelona if they manage to advance to the final. The last El Clasicos have all been joys to watch and I don't expect this to change.

I think its going to be either 3-1 or 3-2

The Juve team is really underrated. Individually they aren't that far off, and when it comes to tactics and team play they are on another level compared to Madrid.
|
That's crazy and it's about all the teams, not just barca-real or cl teams.
