Pretty sure just Liverpool that only comes to mind ^_^ Chelsea came close rofl. But Liverpool did it in 2005. Finished 5th following season to then beg UEFA to let them back into the competition. They did it and made the unseeded, in which they then drew chelsea in the group stages because of it ^_^

Poor Ajax, just saw their group draws for the last 4 years, that sucks.
we just dont pay fifa enough money or something its like with dortmunt getting 2nd place and getting a worse seeding the year after - something's wrong there. guess it'll stop at some point and for now we get nice teams to play against, but it kinda sucks that we finally have a good coach+team but we never can build on because the best players will leave for teams that actually get into the knockout stages so we're stuck atm

From Arsenal forum: "It's like a video game, Fenerbahce is level 1 (easy),Besiktas is level 2 (normal) and Galatasary is level 3 (hard)."
Btw Gala's group is not that hard. BvB and Gunners are clear favourites but we have a chance! All we need is a god damn finisher. Burak Yilmaz clearly can not play at CL level.
Man I am happy Feyenoord finally made Europa league after something like 6 years but I am absolutely furious at the game today. How the bloody hell do you let a 3-0 lead slip to a 3-3 in something like 35 minutes against what is virtually an amateur team for Ukraine that couldn't even play in their hometown because of the fighting there?
Mulder is just a diabolical keeper much of the time and he needs to be replaced. The midfield was drastic in the second half. Clasie is just a cloud of discontent and played a poor game with a lot of loss of possession. Vilhena was even more wasteful. Immers mostly useless. The midfield was poor, but compared to the defense... there are no words there. Van Beek and Mathijsen are just woeful. Honestly, the opponents don't need to attack, they just need to wait till one of these two jokers shits his pants and gifts them a goal. Kongolo and Wilshere didn't cover themselves in glory either. With 100% certainty I know, that if Feyenoord has to defend, they will fail. So what does coach Rutten do? He orders them to defend, substitutes an attacker for a defender... and inevitably, they concede again. Just gutless.
They will be torn apart in Europa league group stages if nothing changes. Kongolo should move to CB, a new CB should be acquired, Mathijsen and van Beek should bury their heads in the sand. Buy a new keeper or at least put in Hahn or something... I would also say get a new striker but at least Te Vrede is scoring goals, though he is like a giant sloth and does little else. With our finances though i'd rather just fix the defense. Mostly though, Rutten is a weakling and needs to go, though I doubt that will happen.
You can hardly blame Rutten for anything. He inherited a team that was bought empty of all its star players except Clasie who is overrated as it is :|. Then again, you can't put it on Clasie to carry the entire team. Rutten looks absolutely terrible in the press as always, but I think he's an ok coach. He just has an absolutely shitty selection to work with.

Absolutely amazing statement. Hope it reaches audiences far and wide.
I can certainly blame him for this game. He reminded me of Dick Advocaat when he substituted Arjen Robben against Tsjechie when they were ahead by 2 goals. Naturally they lost. Feyenoord cannot defend to save it's life so there's no point in trying. His attitude is a big problem, he is simply too cowardly.
The team is not nearly as bad as it has looked this season. The defense was terrible last season and is even more of a shambles now because it has not been adequately replaced, but the midfield is untouched and honestly, Te Vrede has done sort of acceptably as a replacement for Pelle. Rutten has not done well at all. Something like tonight should not happen.
The issue we have had over the last two seasons was not our defense but our midfield, there is no chemistry between Vilhena, Clasie and Immers. It worked better with Vormer in the squad, but Vilhena is the big talent and Immers runs a lot. Pelle was a godsend when we could just skip the midfield entirely. Now we are being forced to use our midfield and it's weaknesses are becoming very apparent, last season we suffered the same problems in big matches. The midfield gets overrun and the defense gets put under insane pressure until it gives away chances, which according to statistics results in a goal every 3 shots on target with Mulder. This year the defense is also poor and the result is that we are bleeding goals.
That said, I agree Rutten is not entirely blameless. He needed to bring an extra midfielder or a fresh attacker to put pressure on the Zorya defense, because honestly their defense was even shittier than ours. But he decides to sub in Nelom, the worst defender we have and thank god the fourth official subbed the wrong player. Kongolo at least has speed which Mathijssen does not.
Yeah especially Vilhena was poor yesterday. I agree that the midfield is not doing well but I actually rate Vilhena, Clasie and even Immers just as a body so I don't understand why they lose control of games so easily. They are incredibly wasteful in possession.
Great draw, really looking forward to away day in Sevilla
Also Jordi Clasie extends contract to 2018! Great news! now hopefully we get El Ahmadi again, should bolster our midfield. We still lack a defender, but at least we can start playing like a team that doesn't need a defense now

Did indeed sign El Ahmadi for 3 years so that's good news. The transfer window doesn't look as bad now from one day to the next. Didn't expect Clasie to extend actually, he looked rather unhappy the last few matches ; Happy that he has however.
I think the draw is quite decent. We'll lose versus Sevilla I imagine but it will be a good experience for the team ; It will be nice to play a proper team in Europe again too. I think versus Liege and the Croatian team we should have a chance. Either way, it should be fun.
