Gotta dust themselves down quickly though, Spurs this weekend and Friday is champions league draw. They are going to be in pot 3 and could find themselves in a group with Barcelona and PSG or something.

Only good thing is Johnson is injured, now they get to play Manquilo or something whatever his name is. He is much better than Johnson who is terrible. Obviously having Suarez makes Liverpool a lot better but its nonsense to say he would have won them this game when its simply poor defending that has cost them. I wouldn't go that far, City beat Pool at home last season as well. But with Suarez they would have at least stood a chance.

I thought they had a chance this game too. They were the better side in the first half but just like last season, defensive frailties cost them. I think losing Suarez hurts Liverpool but they have done a decent job trying to replace him (you never can replace him 1 for 1). I suspect Liverpool will end in the top 4 again but not challenge for the title this season as closely as last.

If they revert to a 4-3-3 then I think Di Maria should start on the wing with Januzaj on the opposite wing, RvP or Rooney as center forward. Then I'd play Mata/Kagawa as the furthest forward of the midfield 3 with Herrera acting as a box to box type player (United really need to buy a proper box to box like Vidal next season) and then I'd buy a holding player like de Jong (he can be had for cheap as he's on the last year of his contract) to shield the atrocious backline which would be Rafael and Shaw as fullbacks and Rojo and probably Jones at CB. I think de Jong could be a really smart signing for United because he adds some serious steel into a lightweight midfield, can help out the shaky defense enormously and maybe just as important he is a great leader who can organize and instill confidence in a youngish defense.

Should Wenger not buy a new striker how much do you think Sanogo will play lichter? With Özil coming back Sanchez moves to the striker position full time, no?

It will depend on the stuborness of AW, without change to the system he is likely to play quite a lot, the way Arsenal play requires striker to spend fair amount of time with the back to the goal and Alexis wasn't looking too good at it, Podolski and Walcott are terrible at it too, I'm not sure about Campbell I haven't really seen him in such role.

To me that is Arsenal will sign Cavani as long as they reach the group stages, if not Cavani will not join them. Is my view of that saga.
